follow (brightwin)
All hell broke loose.
Win's feet stood, gluing themselves to the cemented parking lot and his hands suspended in the air. His eyes burned, his heart screamed and blood rushed to his ears.
The backpack on his shoulder slide down and fell on the ground with a 'thud' making the two people kissing each other break free, jolting further away from the latter.
"Bright...?" Win mumbled, as his eyes watered up.
Bright got pale as if he had seen a ghost; multiple expressions changed in the next few seconds.
"Win. Wait, it's not what you think-", Bright panicked and walked towards the latter. But it was too late.
The boy has already started running away after swiftly picking up his backpack.
"Win! Win, wait!" Bright's voice boomed into the, now empty, parking lot.
Win was gone.
All Win wanted to do was spend few hours with Bright before leaving for Hokkaido. But all he got to see was him kissing Fern, one of his partners in the new MV he was shooting.
He is tired! He is tired of carrying on a low-key relationship. Sometimes his frustration level blows up making him cry or snap at every random person he meets. Why does his boyfriend have to this good-looking?
He bore up all those perks of having a low-key relation and convinced himself that this was for their own good and that if they come out all of a sudden, people might bash them for who they are. And that was until today when his last thread of patience tore down and he left the place as soon as he possibly could.
He was currently at P'Eed's house with his well-packed luggage ready to go to the airport.
"Are you sure you don't want to meet B1?" P'Eed asked with a concerned expression. She had lost count of the times when the two would have a row and one of them would be there at her house refusing to meet the other.
Win feels so empty. He feels like all his soul was sucked out by an invisible someone or something, leaving him a walking dead man.
"No", he answered, coldly.
"But, he's here banging my door. Why don't you two talk it out?" P'Eed asked again, praying this time the younger might oblige to her request.
"I am sorry, P'Eed. It's over between us", he answered emotionlessly. His heart shattered into million pieces, and lumps of sourness formed into his throat- something he couldn't get rid of after swallowing million times.
"It's all over", he mumbled again. This time he repeated the words more to himself as he broke down, hugging his carrot plushie on his lap— letting out every bottled-up emotion. The surge of intensified heart-aching pain made him wail, whimper and sob.
And that didn't stop him from mumbling and repeating, "it's all over", in a loop.
Win watched the glowing, minuscular city amidst the clouds, feet down below him
He had his earpods on as he listened to Bright's call records on shuffle. He have an odd obsession with recording calls, especially that of Bright's, and keeping them all with him.
He had a series of contemplation and dilemma to listen or not to listen to them and eventually, the latter won.
" I want to buy a new refrigerator for our house", Bright's melodic voice flowed into his ears, making his heart quiver.
"A fridge? Why? Is the old one not working anymore?" It was Win's raspy voice. Win would have cringed inwardly if currently, he was not on the verge of tearing down.
He wanted to go back to that time when the older was still in love with him. When he would still have made love to him and kissed him with those 'drowning in love' eyes and expressions— something that would make his heart flutter.
He sobbed, his heart screamed, his heart thumbed out loud, yet there was no sign of his tears. Probably, he was too hurt to even cry anymore, or maybe not?
Words went on inside his earpods. Conversations, touches of laughter, futile promises, and vague confessions. He kept his strained gaze over the half-closed window and visible blurred city lights.
His thoughts were soon broke down with his voice.
"P'Bai?"
Bright's raspy voice followed shortly, "Yes baby."
"I can't sleep".
There was shuffling of sheets and low grunts.
Win remembered those days when they have had their rehearsals for the Fanatopia and classes and shootings nonstop the whole day making both of them super weak and exhausted.
"P'Bai? You there? Did I disturb your sleep?"
"Nope! Wait let me sing you a song, hm?"
"Sing a song? But weren't you sleeping?"
"I was. Now, shush". Brights mellow warm voice flowed in. The raspy, hushed tones oddly calmed his senses, even now.
It took Win a whole minute to understand it was 'Easy', by Mac Ayres. His heart quivered and his stomach knotted horribly as he remembered how Bright says the specific song reminds him of Win.
"Mornin' sun, mornin' high
Oh, I think this haze is, for now, my best disguise
No need to think about why
What'cha say, starry-eyed
How you love to smile
And watch the clouds reside
Just tryin' to give it some time"
When the disembodied mellow voice sang the part, Win's heart quiver once more before having a single drop of tear rolled down his left eye.
Win heaved a long sigh before letting his duffle bag fall on the floor of his room. It was only yesterday he landed in the prefecture of Japan and here he is already on his second day. His shootings have been too tiring for he had to run locations after locations to get a perfect romantic view. He was glad that his Aunt used to stay at Hokkaido, now that she's back in Thailand, he can have the cottage to himself and P'Eed.
His thoughts these days couldn't be on venturing into the city further and explore it as he had already planned earlier, with his boyfriend. Now after the fresh wounds have been planted in his heart, it was as if he had lost a part of himself with Bright— he has suddenly lost his gleaming eyes as he would have shown while watching a 'uni' (sea urchin) on his plate a few days ago and have lost all his overflowing energy to do anything altogether.
He stared at the blank fancy ceiling with his blank eyes, hearing the pitter-patter of the rain outside. He let out a groan before taking out his phone and scrolling through his Twitter feed.
A notification lighted up on his notification bar with 48 missed calls and 5000 messages from Bright. He ignored it and scrolled absent-mindedly until he stops at a video with him a Bright. The caption said, 'Gonna follow you to Hokkaido as well.' P'Bright is so cuteee~!
It was the video of the interview they had last year where they were asked if they wanted to travel somewhere, where would it be. His answer was Japan, Hokkaido. He concentrated on Bright's answer. He changed his answer to Hokkaido as well saying he's to going to follow him too.
Win would have blushed if it were earlier. For now, he was busy asking himself -Why didn't he noticed it before?
He quickly opened the messages to see a swarm of "I am sorry, Win"s and "Talk to me, baby"s, and "Let me explain"s and "Don't misunderstand me, bun"s flowed in.
He locked the phone, his eyes burning.
Where exactly did it all go wrong?
It was most possibly midnight when Win's eyes fluttered open.
His eyes adjusted to the darkness around him, which most perfectly resonated the blankness in his heart. The speed of the downpour has increased considerably since the time he dozed off to sleep.
He shook his head before trying to sit up.
"WIN! ARE YOU IN THERE?! BABY PLEASE!" A familiar voice boomed in his room from the outside.
He jumped and stumbled out of his bed to find a familiar figure standing amidst the pouring rain.
He blinked once.
Nope. He was still there.
Was he dreaming?
Blink twice.
Still there?
Blink. Blink. Blink. Blink.
STILL THERE!
HE WASN'T DREAMING!
"What the hell are you here for?" Win screamed out.
"Baby! Baby please, listen to me. It was a horrible misunderstanding. Please, let me explain, bun-" Bright whimpered, rubbing off the running water from his face.
All these days he has been staying away from the younger thinking he might give him a chance to explain. But no. It was getting too late and his longing for the latter was increasing every passing second, terribly.
He wanted him back.
He did what he promised. He followed him to Hokkaido. Only if the circumstances were a bit different! He had wished.
"I DON'T WANT YOUR FUCKING EXPLANATIONS!" All the stuffed-up emotions vented out, shaking Win. He was frustrated, angry, sad, and happy, somewhat to see him here. Yet, Bright kissing the girl in the empty parking lot seemed to be too much to take.
"Bun, this once! Please! Baby? Please?" Bright panted. His jet lag seems to kick in, making him feel dizzy while his head throbbed in pain. But no pain was near in comparison to his heartache.
"GO AWAY!" Win's heart broke even further. Without further ado, he turned around closing the window and falling on the floor sobbing painfully.
"Nong, I think I have heard B1 outside?" P'Eed entered the room and she gasped audibly, "What happened?"
Win let his head rest on P'Eed's shoulder without answering her. Bright was so close to him, yet he couldn't go. The scene replays in front of his eyes as clear as crystal, stabbing his heart each time.
"BUN! I WON'T GO AWAY UNTIL YOU GIVE ME A CHANCE TO EXPLAIN! I DIDN'T COME HERE TO GO BACK WITHOUT COMPLETING WHAT I MUST DO!"
"B1 is here? So he wasn't lying!" P'Eed gasped again, muttering to herself, "Nong! You'll go down to him right now or I'll kick you out!"
Win looked at her, gaping at the words she said, "What? How could you do this, mae!?"
"B1 literally ran here after booking a flight. Do you think this is funny? If he was cheating on you, don't you think he needn't come here? He could've abandoned you. Use your brains, Nong!"
"I... I am hurt, Mae Eed!" Win whispered.
"It's common to get hurt in a relationship, luuk", She rubbed his back, "we should learn to forgive and let go of what hurts us, especially when the other person is accepting his fault".
He chose to stay silent.
He sniffed before getting up and walking up to the window. He sobbed occasionally as his eyes burnt with the pain.
Whatever happens, he can never watch his Bright in pain. He was always the one to go back to that square one, back to Bright.
His sulking heart melted and evaporated at the sight of Bright's white drenched shirt and shivering demeanor. His jaw clenched as he watched the latter squeezed his eyes shut standing in the cold and heavy downpour. He wanted to go kiss him, hug him and hear him out.
"There's no point in hurting both of you na luuk! I think you should give a chance for him to explain?"
Should he or should he not?
His phone pinged with a message.
It was Fern, the girl whom he caught kissing Bright.
I am sorry, Nong. I didn't know you and Bright were already dating. After you ran away from there Bright broke the news to me and I am feeling guilty ever since. Please hear Bright out, he loves you, a lot. And I am sorry once again.
Win read the message again and again. Several times.
The words were the same. It wasn't a hallucination or vague veil of misconceptions. There had been a bigger misunderstanding.
Is that true? Should he let him explain?
His phone slipped from his trembling fingers as an overwhelming feeling enveloped him.
He didn't bother to wear a shoe and ran out in his T-shirt, faded track pants, and socks. His love was waiting to be mended.
He needs answers.
Bright shivered violently. First of all, the temperature outside was lower than that in Bangkok and second of all, it was raining heavily here.
He opened his eyes in silts to find if the person he wanted to see was in front of him. But no. It was still him alone on the driveway.
He messed up a big-time, he thought. He shouldn't have gone to the parking lot alone with Fern that day. He should've dodged the action and asked Win to accompany him instead.
It was all his fault. He whimpered letting warm angry tears flow down his cheeks with a contrast to the cold environment he was standing in.
He opened his eyes again.
But this time a drenched someone stood before him.
He wide opened his eyes to find Win there. He had his bottom lip in between his bunny teeth and looking at him with a frown.
His heartbeat erratically resonating with the rhythm of the pouring rain. He felt alive and gleeful to find that the younger did give him a chance to explain everything out.
But before he could say something, he froze as Win's warm fingertips landed on his cheeks, caressing the smooth skin with utter delicacy— probably afraid, the person might disappear from under this touch.
The gesture made his heart quiver in anticipation and he holds his hand on the place, leaning down in his warmth, feeling home.
Win's hands were soon retracted from the position. Bright looked up at him to find the latter looking at him with blank eyes.
"Win, I—" Bright began but soon got cut off.
Win held up his phone with Fern's message illuminated on the screen, "Is this a part of a plan? Or this the truth? You're not deceiving me from the whole different topic, are you?" Win made sure he was as cold as ice. While his empty, broken heart broke some more.
"Fern messaged you? Why?" Bright asked taking the phone from the latter. After reading the text several times, he looked up with teary eyes, "It's the truth, Metawin."
"Why is she telling me this and not you?!"Win's voice quivered.
"Win I came here all the way to tell this to you... I have literally no fucking idea why the hell is she writing it to you!" Bright let out the words, desperately. The whole explanation thing was making him more frustrated, especially when someone like, Win was not trusting him.
"Liar!" Win spat out, "WEREN'T YOU THE ONE ASKED HER TO?" Win has had enough of lies. His head was screaming to accept every word from his boyfriend as lies while his heart was simultaneously fighting to tell him they were the truths and that he should at least try to believe him a bit.
"FOR A HUNDRED TIMES, NO!!"Bright clasped Win's shoulders and shook him, "WHAT HAPPENED TO YOU? HOW COULD YOU NOT TRUST ME, BUN? AFTER ALL MOMENTS WE MADE, ALL DREAMS WE SHARED?" Bright's voice cracked with every word. His was getting too weak to even stand anymore.
Win went silent looking at Bright panting still clutching his shoulders. His hands cold and the coldness seeps through his wet shoulders, making him shiver.
Should he trust him? Is it worth it?
"They were lies after all, weren't they?" Win mumbled out, stony cold, quavering voice.
Bright snapped his head up, staring at his boyfriend with an unreadable expression. Win couldn't figure out if the latter was too heartbroken or too shocked to hear them.
Bright slowly let go of Win's shoulders, letting the wobbly hands fall themselves beside him.
Win wanted to hear what Bright has to say. Win wanted to hear him explain his part. He wanted to hug him and say sorry and kiss him till the morning. But probably, he messed it all up with that one sentence. And he regretted speaking it immediately as he saw Bright took a step back.
Win felt cold as if the raindrops were suddenly too cold to bear.
His heart broke further as he saw Bright rub his eyes. He was crying! Whatever happens, he cannot see him this vulnerable! Never!
"Then, that's... that'll be, be it", Bright mumbled, shuttering, letting a tear fall, and finally break the dams holding them intact. He turned around no longer having the strength to persuade him. He lost. All so lost— because of a sudden incident in which he had little or no control. Or perhaps he had, he was just too dumb to get it.
"It was all, all my f–fault." Bright accepted it. Telling it deep down to his heart more than everything.
Win sobbed. Where's the explanation? Why was he giving up so easily?!
Before Bright could even walk out of the driveway, Win shouted out.
"Don't go yet, P'Bai". Call him a coward if you will, but can no longer see Bright this pathetic.
Bright didn't turn around albeit he stopped in his tracks. Who is he not to oblige to the request of the love of his life? The one who has weaved heaven out of hell and the one with whom he'd dreamed of happily ever after, even though the concept is too fairy tail–ish and they were too older to believe it.
"Why aren't you telling me to believe you? Why aren't you telling me to hear you out again and again until I change my mind", Win wailed, "Is it so easy to leave me like that? Why couldn't you get it how devastated I am after seeing you two kiss?!"
"I BEGGED YOU WIN! HOW COULD YOU SAY I DIDN'T ASK YOU TO HEAR ME OUT? DO YOU THINK I BOARDED THE FIRST PLANE AVAILABLE TO HOKKAIDO AND CAME ALL OVER THE PLACE TO SAY 'HELLO' TO YOU?! IF YOU WEREN'T THAT IMPORTANT TO ME, DO YOU THINK I WOULD COME?" He sobbed harder and harder, choking in his own saliva, "I KNOW IT'S ALL MY FAULT! I SHOULD'VE BEEN CAREFUL! AND I AM SO FUCKING SORRY FOR THAT, OKAY?"
Win stood sobbing, still looking at the older, searching if this were all true, if what P'Eed said was all true, and if his overthought thoughts didn't make sense anymore, then he should be utterly giddy.
The sincerity and hurtful expressions shot from Bright's teary eyes, piercing Win's heart, making him bleed. The three words came near his throat, bubbling and fighting to come out.
"I am sorry, P'Bai", Win whispered yelled, finally.
And that was the cue for the older as he leaned down and pressed his lips on Win's, forgetting everything for now. It felt like years since Bright got his 'daily dose of Win Metawin'. He was drowning in warmth, love, and pure bliss. He did not doubt that at this rate he might fall into the River of Oblivion where the younger might help him cross it to the afterlife.
He moved his lips expertly, tears mingling with saliva, pulling Win closer to himself, drinking the Elixir of Love. He was falling nonstop, but he knew the younger will be there to save him from all the pain he was to experience next. They sobbed while kissing each like there's no tomorrow.
Win moaned when he slid his tongue in Win's mouth. The music awoke all sorts of unknown feelings in him. It made him greedy to such an extent that he feared, he might go insane.
Win. Win. Win. It was always him that can make him feel so many overwhelming emotions at once.
When they let go of each other, Win panted, sticking his forehead with the older. "I am sorry, P'Bai. Forgive me.", Win whispered hearing the deafening sound of heartbeats and rain.
"I am sorry, too," Bright asked caressing Win's jaw. He is ever ready to forgive Win and ever ready to accept him, no matter what.
Win hummed, subtly nodding his head carefully trying not to break that intimate connection.
"Then will you come back to me again?" Bright cooed, hiccuping.
"I will", Win answered grinning for the first time in these two days, still teary-eyed, "don't be an ass and hurt me again."
"I am sorry, but I'll hurt you on the bed", Bright whispered, grinning widely and soring his cheeks.
"Ai' Pervert!" Win giggled, blushing and letting tears fall over his red cheeks.
No words were exchanged next. It was like a silent mutual agreement that they were okay now.
________
It was the most I've written hahahaha.
This prompt was inspired by the interview where Bright says he'll follow Win to Hokkaido.🤭
Don't forget to check out ssouriantt 's one shot on the same prompt.
I have republished it because I thought some actions were too fast to take place and I haven't explained them enough. I hope this version is better and more acceptable than the previous one.
