The effect of beard prickling on her soft skin, someone's breath fanning over her face and the warmth radiating from the same made a small moan come out of Kaeya's mouth as she turned to his side even more and snuggling in his frame, almost like burying herself in.
He wrapped his arms around her frame that was hidden with the quilt, his fingertips finding the bare skin as her camisole had ridden up.
"I am sorry..." Came his deep morning voice as she sighed in response.
Because this was the beginning of the countless of apologies he would give till she doesn't wake up.
The had been his norm since almost 2.5 years. Waking her up this way.
Her brown eyes opened in the slowest of pace, them blinking to adjust with the morning sunlight falling in the room giving it a natural look.
"KayKay, please wake up. We need to go for your regular checkup today." His deep voice reached her ears as she fluttered her eyes, the lashes clashing with her puffed out cheeks.
"I didn't sleep the whole night." She complained with a huff.
"I know baby. I am sorry. Just a month more please. You can do it right?" He whispered softly, grazing his hands on her swollen belly.
"Mhm. That's my only hope." She muttered tracing the almost invisible scar on the side of his forehead.
"I love you." He voiced out.
"I do too." Was her response, barely audible.
Every single time her response to his 'I love you' had been the same.
The harsh reality which both of them knew was that she isn't in love with him. She just loved him. She didn't fall in love with him. She only loved Yuvaan as her husband. Nothing else.
And it was a fact he had accepted as his fate. Because what they're now, both of them were satisfied with it.
Kissing her forehead ever so softly, followed by him murmuring a 'Good Morning my baby' to Kaeya's swollen belly, Yuvaan got up from the bed, helping Kaeya in the process as well and proceeded to get into the bathroom to prepare Kaeya's usual hot bath.
With difficulty, Kaeya walked towards the balcony of the room and breathed in the freshness of morning. The cool breeze caused goosebumps appear her skin, a small kick inside her belly that made her hiss a little and then giggle as she realized that baby appreciated the new and fresh surroundings.
3 months.
It was 3 months of loneliness for Kaeya after the doctor had given the statement which she dreads even now.
"I am sorry Mrs. Shah, but you husband has slipped into coma."
This statement felt like everything inside of her had been ripped. She couldn't breathe properly and mind had gone numb to her surroundings.
The sacred bond of marriage had done it's magic on Kaeya. The mere thought of Yuvaan leaving her for forever was nothing but heart shattering and horrendous.
She realized that no matter she didn't have romantic feelings for him or that being deeply in love with him, she definitely loved him as a person. She loved Yuvaan as himself. The one who listened to her taunts without saying a word back.
Visiting him every single day and staying there for hours and hours, begging him to wake up and crying at her loneliness, she realized that he was a big part of her life and his absence created an unwanted silence too.
The whole family was devastated with the sudden news and they tried supporting Kaeya at level best. But the only thing she needed was for Yuvaan to wake up and take all her worries.
When he had waken up after 3 long months of agony, Kaeya had again showered him with her shouts and yelling, the only difference this time being that she had tears flowing out of her eyes.
How could he even think of leaving her alone in a world like this?
And as soon as Yuvaan had heard Kaeya saying that this is the last time I am forgiving you for thinking this nonsense, a painful yet heart touching smile had reached his face who gestured for her to bend down just so he could kiss her forehead.
This gesture of his had only made tears appear in everyone's eyes and he himself had his eyes glistening with the fact of Kaeya now being with him like he'd always dreamt of.
And she accepted him.
She accepted her fate.
She accepted that he was meant to be a part of her life.
Life isn't always colorful for everyone. There are those grey times as well. But Kaeya was someone who had learnt to cherish the colorful ones and even accept Yuvaan's changed form. More like a loving one who took every chance to prove that he too can be a good husband.
All of a sudden, she felt a pair of strong arms wrapping around her form, them reaching her swollen belly and as he rubbed it softly, she couldn't help but to lean back in his face, taking his support.
His head was dipped in the side of her neck, her back touching his chest and still she could feel his body heat.
"I am so proud of you." He mumbled against her ear, grazing his fingertips on her stomach.
Pregnancy is never easy. Being at every step of it with Kaeya, Yuvaan has only realized how more strong of a person she is. Being strong and depicting yourself strong are two different things and she was strong. All women are strong.
No matter how much he helps her or anything, at the end it was Kaeya who had to go through everything whether it was the body changes, hormonal stage or sleepless nights.
"Your bath is ready." He pointed out in between, as he kissed her sweet spot making a guttural sound appear from the back of her throat.
Fortunately, intimacy between the couple had been amazing. Sometimes, the physical closeness between a couple can be more appreciating than emotional. Though it wasn't like that Yuvaan and Kaeya lived like strangers or that they bear each other, an emotional pull was lacking between them than the physical one.
Unlike Yuvaan, Kaeya wasn't a virgin. Afer gaining success in the career field of her life, she had lived her life to the fullest, including her sleeping with a guy who she met through Tanishq. But it just didn't work out between them.
And no matter what, Yuvaan had to accept this fact just like Kaeya did with many others.
Eight months ago when Kaeya was pregnant, it wasn't a shock for her. It was planned. Though, no one was ecstatic more than Yuvaan. He had this permanent grin on his face, bragging about the same to Kaeya herself who was pregnant.
"Let me help you." Yuvaan voiced out as Kaeya proceeded to get back inside the room.
And she let him.
It was way difficult for her to manage and she had to take Yuvaan's help for the same. Comfortable in his proximity, she had accepted him being near resulting in him doing all her tasks.
And that's why she wouldn't hesitate accepting the fact that no matter he wasn't exactly a good bestfriend, he was perfect as a husband. Just perfect.
//////////
The regular checkup went amazing for Kaeya and the baby was perfectly fine. Yuvaan was at every step and she was glad of the support. There are some things that can't be done alone.
Currently she was resting on their bed, her favourite movie playing on the big screen in front of her with a bowl of popcorn that Yuvaan had prepared kept on her swollen belly from which she kept on eating.
It was around 8 in the night and Yuvaan usually comes around 7 because of Kaeya's health. She was basically banned by him from stepping her foot down.
Finally having enough of watching this movie the 100th time, she paddled out of the bedroom, to the lounge where her eyes instantly widened.
In front of her was a beautiful setup which seemed as of a date's.
The lights were dimmed, a warm illumination around the expanse. A table was in the open space with two chairs on either side of it. The table was filled with juice, this time instead of champagne and her favourite, steaming hot red pasta was kept in the middle with a beautiful bouquet of her favourite flowers in one corner.
Several candles were gleaming in different directions, giving the scene a sort of warmth, a rose scent lingering in the air that she couldn't help but to breathe in.
All of a sudden her hand was entwined with someone else's. Her gaze moved towards the same direction and they landed on him who was dressed in a pair of navy blue dress shirt and pair of black pants that was so unlike hers as all she was in was Yuvaan's tshirt and a pair of her shorts.
"So, what do you think?" He rasped out, gesturing towards the date setup.
"It's so.....perfect." Kaeya breathed out, nodding her head with a gleam in her eyes.
"I am glad you liked it." He replied with a dazzling smile making a small smile appear on hers.
Leading her towards the table, he made her sit carefully on one of the chair while sat himself on opposite to her.
"Is this a date?" She asked, raising her eyebrows.
"Of course it is. What did you assume anyways?" He questioned back with a teasing smile.
Pouring down the juice in her glass, Yuvaan gestured for her to drink it which she gladly did.
"I never thought that our 90th date would be with me in your tshirt while you being properly dressed." She replied, shrugging a little with a teasing look herself.
"Well according to me this is the best outfit you could be in." This time he winked.
And a chuckle escaped Kaeya's lips at his response. This was something she couldn't get enough of. And this was one of their rainbow times.
A day she definitely has to mark in her diary.
"KayKay, you know that you're the best part of my life and will always be. I know I am not special. I know I am not important for you. I know you will never be able to love me like I do, but I am more than fine by it since you're beside me. Nobody knows how many times I'd cried over my mistakes in the past. Nobody knows what I felt when I realized that I've let down my people. But, I feel out of the world knowing the fact that you accepted me again. You literally mean the world to me Kaeya. I love you beyond belief because you keep me happy unknowingly. I still can't believe we have come this far and about to have a baby of our own. You are the sweetest, most understanding woman I have ever come across and I know I can always trust you." He said in a go.
All the while there was a smile forming on Kaeya's lips, getting bigger each passing line but he still wasn't done.
"I- I would do anything just to be with you and make you happy like you deserve to be. Just p-please do not ever leave the hold of my hand." He breathed out, his eyes shining with sincerity and love as he spoke every word.
Kaeya now knew she didn't want anything more.
"You are important Yuvaan." Was her only response and he was the happiest.
And following this was them getting back to their date, forgetting about all tension or missing ties between them. Because this moment was just perfect.
