"Sir, your daughter has punched another boy that sits beside her in the classroom. What else do you need to hear?" The teacher complained in frustration.
Veer gave his daughter an impressed look while Shreya showered her with her famous glare.
"Mr. and Mrs. Shekhawat, Roohi has punched a boy directly in his face. He is bruised by it and continuously crying. His parents are highly against this action of hers and wants us to take an action regarding this. They want us to rusticate her from attending the school." The principal said, looking at the set of parents with a straight face.
The 6 year old girl named Roohi knew how to act in such a situation. Her head was lowered down on the level of her lap, a big pout on her face and eyes glistening with tears just for someone to not scold her.
In reality, she was anything but innocent being the Daddy's princess she has always been.
Sitting on the chair between her parents, she let out a small sniffle making Shreya give her another glare while Veer looked at his princess all worriedly.
Lifting her up from the chair, he made her sit on his lap to which she buried her face in his chest just so Shreya or the teacher and principal couldn't do anything to her. She knew no one could dare to say a word to her when she has her father right beside her. Well, it was an exception with Shreya as nothing could stop Shreya for giving her daughter a piece of advice.
And even if she doesn't has her father, she definitely has the training by her mother of how to handle herself in any situation.
"My sincere apologies for this action of Roohi, Ma'am. I didn't have any idea that she would do anything like this in school, but I will make sure that anything like this won't be happening ahead. If it's possible, can I please know the name of the boy so I can make Roohi apologize to him as well?" Shreya said politely.
"Of course Mrs. Shekhawat. I know you'll be able to handle her and that was the same reason we didn't bother you informing all the previous times." The principal said nodding her head.
"What do you mean by previous times, Ma'am?" Shreya asked with a confused expression.
"This isn't the first time our Roohi has gotten into a fight and that too specially with Krish. They have this war going since the very first day of their school." The principal responded with a big sigh.
"I am sorry Ma'am, but I really didn't have any idea about this. I am sure you won't be hearing any complaint ahead because of Roohi." Shreya said with a small smile, just to cover up her anger.
"Apologize to everyone Roohi. Now." Shreya said in a stern voice, turning towards her daughter who was busy having the best time of her life in her father's arms.
"I am sorry Ma'am." Roohi said timidly and the principal responded her with a big smile, now giving her a chocolate just to brighten up the little girl's mood.
"Thank you!" She said cheerfully, forgetting all about that happened earlier.
"Where can I meet the boy and his parents Ma'am?" Shreya asked, clutching her stomach as Veer helped her to get up from the chair.
"They are at the reception Mr. and Mrs. Shekhawat." Roohi's class teacher replied.
"Thank you." The nodded as they proceeded to get outside of the principal's office.
Even in the anger state, Shreya could never resist her daughter Roohi. The little one was helping her 6 months pregnant mother to walk by holding her hand while Veer was supporting Shreya as well. In every sense, they were really a perfect family.
The little girl kept on apologizing while they walked towards the reception and as always her parents could never stay angry at such a pure soul. They happily forgave her, but not forgetting to give her a piece of advice about this action of hers and how she needed to apologize to the boy.
Apologize to the boy? Why in the world would I apologize to my enemy? The 6 year old Roohi whined internally.
As soon as they reached the reception, their eyes landed on the small family sitting on one of the couches on the reception. The father of the boy was holding him in his arms while the mother looked like she was explaining some things to him as he was crying.
"Excuse me?" Shreya butted in politely, making three heads snap in her direction.
And as soon as the boy's eyes landed on the little firecracker, he started crying even louder.
"You're such a crybaby Krish." Roohi commented, giving him a scoff.
"Roohi Shekhawat! You better shut your mouth if you don't want me to send your Mylo away." Shreya snapped at her daughter who immediately pursed her lips at the thought of her pet dog, a Golden Retriever going anywhere away from her.
"Mumma!" The boy cried, looking at his mother for any help.
"Monica? Is that really you?" Shreya asked with a bewildered look making the other woman's head snap towards her in an instant.
"Uhh- yeah. Oh my god! Is that you Shreya?" She replied sounding surprised.
"Hell yeah, it's me." Shreya clapped her hands, hormones taking up everything of hers.
"Do you guys know each other?" Veer asked, and the other man nodded his head too for knowing the answer.
"Yeah. That's Monica and this is her husband and son. They live in the next tower to us. We'd talked a few times in the evenings when Roohi and Krish used to play in the park of our society." Shreya explained to him.
"More like fight than play." Monica commented making Shreya laugh in agreement.
"Veer Shekhawat, nice to meet you." Veer introduced himself to the other man, shaking his hand politely.
"Dev Dixit. Nice meeting you too." He replied with a small smile.
"Krish...I am sorry." Roohi said in between, in her small and adorable voice.
"You always make fun of me and beat me too." Krish huffed, getting down from the arms of his father, now standing beside Roohi.
"Because you're the only one I talk to and you're my bench partner too. How can I hit someone who I don't know?" She pouted.
"So that means I am special?" He asked with a hopeful glee in his eyes.
"Of course crybaby." Roohi giggled, giving him a weird type of hug which he returned in his own way.
"Mom, Dad, look! I finally made Roohi my friend." Krish said to his parents with bright pink cheeks.
"When did I say that I will be your friend?" Roohi asked with a frown.
"Roohi, stop teasing him!" Shreya scolded her who giggled again.
"Oops, sorry." She pouted.
"I am really sorry from Roohi's side that she punched Krish. I am sure this won't be happening again." Shreya said, looking at the husband-wife duo all apologizingly.
"That's fine Shreya. Children tend to do such things and you don't need to be sorry for this. I am sure these two will be great friends if this continues." Monica said, chuckling lightly.
"Well, we would definitely love that." Shreya responded with a smile looking at the two children where her daughter was pulling Krish's hair making him whine again.
"You bully." Krish shouted.
"Yes buddy, she definitely is one. Just like her mother." Veer sighed lifting the little boy in his arms, this time making Shreya glare at him secretly.
"Why don't we meet sometime over dinner and have a good chat?" Shreya asked politely.
"Of course, we would love that." They agreed.
Soon, both the couples bid their byes to each other and left the school, not before the little firecracker sticking out her tongue at Krish who went back to the car crying and all Shreya could do was sigh at her daughter's antics.
Some say we cannot be sure about the decisions we take in present that how will they come our in future. But for Shreya and Veer, this one decision of them has kept them smiling all these 6 years.
The though of adopting a child felt weird to Shreya. She was highly confused about it whether it would be a good decision from their side to give their name to a child. That too when they'd went through such things not long ago.
But she did take chance.
The very next day of their discussion about adoption, she asked Veer to take her to the adoption center where her heart filled with immense happiness and warmth seeing the little bundles of joy.
But one child that caught her eyes was the 3 months old girl, laying down in the cot looking up at the ceiling with her big-doe eyes. She had captured Shreya's heart as soon as she saw her told Veer the same who as always listened and did what she wanted.
No matter Shreya had chosen the child, it was the best decision of their life. She was Daddy's little girl not many days later and it felt as if their life was complete. Veer didn't forget to give her everything needed or even more than that.
They felt as if they were complete. Their family was the small and cute one. But, without trying Shreya got pregnant again and the time when they heard from the doctor that this pregnancy was completely normal, without any complications, their happiness was no bounds.
Roohi had been ecstatic these months knowing she would soon have either a little brother or a sister.
This time, Veer and Shreya weren't doubtful. They had embraced the art of parenting in the best of ways and they believed in themselves that they won't let any problems come to their unborn child or their little princess, Roohi. She was their precious piece of heart.
She was the one who gave Shreya and Veer the privilege of being a Mother and Father. She was the one who addressed them as Mom and Dad making their eyes glisten with tears.
"So, how about an icecream treat from my side to my Queen and Princess?" Veer asked, buckling the seatbelt of driver's seat, while Shreya helped Roohi to climb up the car's seat.
"Yay!" Roohi giggled, clapping her hands.
"Hell yeah!" Shreya said, drool almost falling out of her mouth at the newfound craving for icecream.
"What are we waiting for then? Let's get going Shekhawat fam." Veer announced making the other two cheer and soon they were on the roads, their car manoeuvring its way fastest to their destination.
At times, we see things from different perspective and it comes out good. Sometimes we do feel that nothing is right in our lives, although what we fail to understand is if bad comes then so does good. And that's what happened with Shreya and Veer too. Surely they have spent days mourning about the biggest of loss, but now they've accepted the reality in the best of ways, also blessed with these little joys in their lives.
This is how Shreya and Veer found love in each other's enemies. Enemies that turned to lovers.
