Chapter 9 - I Don't Like You

Enjoy ❤️

~ Luciana's POV ~

The doors swung open revealing a small game type of room. I didn't really know what to call it. On one side of the room there were black leather couches and on the other side there was a pool table and a few other arcade type machines. At the far end of the room there was a bar with a few stools in front.

My eyes roamed the room until they landed on the figures dotted around on the couches. I took in the two gorgeous blondes sitting next to Tomasso before my eyes then shifted to the other couch where Rafael was sitting with Daliah. She was dressed in a tight black dress and high heels, her hair up in a ponytail while her face was caked in make up.

Although all three of the girls were dressed similarly, with the same amount of make up, I couldn't deny that they were beautiful. I was nothing compared to them, and that was enough to knock my confidence as soon as they turned to look at Alessio and I.

The sound of the door opening caught their attention and everyone in the room, apart from Daliah and Rafael who were busy talking, looked over in our direction as we stepped inside, although I knew it was me who they were really staring at.

I was focusing more on the two girls who took me in carefully as if they were sizing me up, before coming to the conclusion that I was no threat to them. Which I definitely wasn't.

"Chi è questa cagna?" (Who's this bitch.) I didn't understand what she was saying but by the way she said it, I knew it wasn't something nice. Her words seemed to catch the attention of both Daliah and Rafael who were now staring at us too.

"Zitto, Irena." (Shut up Irena.)

The girl's eyes narrowed at Alessio before she turned her annoyance to me, frowning at me with disgust.

"Deve essere un'altra delle tue puttane." (Must be another one of your whores.) Her words caused a few of the others to laugh while once again sending me looks of disgust. I stepped backwards suddenly realising this wasn't the best idea, but when I did, I felt Alessio's hand on my waist. His hand brushed over my bare skin under my cropped sweatshirt as he pulled me in a little closer to him.

The movement was almost in a protective manner, but I was probably just reading into it too much.

"Ti ho detto di stare zitto, di parlare ancora e non avresti niente da ridere." (I told you to shut up, speak again and you won't have anything to laugh about.) Alessio's words came out strong and confident, the complete opposite of how I was feeling and the girl instantly looked away from him, instead focusing on the drink in her hand.

The room fell silent finally giving me the chance to do what I came for. I felt Alessio's hand squeeze my waist lightly in encouragement and I finally took a deep breath before speaking.

"Daliah do you have my purse from last night?" I know you're probably wondering why I decided to start with that, but I have perfectly good explanation. If Daliah did hold onto my purse last night, any chance I had of getting that back would go out the beautifully stained glass window as soon as I confronted her about setting me up.

"Y-yeah, I was going to come by your place later to drop it off." She seemed to finally get over the shock of seeing me in front of her in a place she clearly thought I would never find her. Daliah stood to her feet and made her way over to her purse where she pulled out my clutch from last night bringing it over to me. All eyes were on us when she finally gave me my purse. She stood in front of me clearly unsure of what to say, so I decided to do the one thing I've felt like doing since I found out what she did to me.

I slapped her.

My hand suddenly made contact with her cheek, causing a loud sound to echo through the room while her head snapped to the side.

As soon as I did it everyone stood to their feet, but I didn't care. She deserved it, and if she did what she did to me, to any of them, they would have done the same thing - or much worse.

I felt Alessio freeze out of shock next to me when I slapped her but he finally seemed to comprehend what happened because he suddenly stepped back from her, pulling me with him. I turned to look at him in confusion but when I turned back to Daliah I understood why. It wasn't Daliah he was worried about.

It was a furious Rafael coming up behind her.

"You bitch what was that for?!" Daliah had her hand on her reddening cheek while glaring at me. I was just standing there wondering how the hell the redness on her skin was showing through the amount of foundation she had on. I must have hit her harder than I thought.

Ha.

"You know what it was for Daliah." This time my voice came out a lot stronger than before which came as a surprise to me.

"You're gonna pay for that puttana." Rafael came and stood next to Daliah, placing a hand on her waist protectively. When he turned to look at her, the sudden tears in her eyes made him even more angry than he was thirty seconds ago.

And it made me even more angrier too.

Because Daliah doesn't cry, ever. When she broke her arm she didn't cry, when she fell and twisted her ankle a few months ago she didn't cry. She doesn't even cry when she gets cramps. Yet apparently, my slap was worse than all of those things.

"Stay out of this Rafael. It doesn't concern you." Alessio once again pulled me closer to him, away from the fuming Italian in front of me.

"Of course it does Alessio! Your puttana just slapped my girlfriend. Why the hell did you even bring her here? She's caused us enough problems as it is." I rolled my eyes at his words catching his attention and suddenly he was glaring at me instead of Alessio. He was exaggerating, I hadn't caused them anything. In fact they were the ones who single handedly destroyed my life in the past few months.

"You set me up Daliah. We've been bestfriends for ten years and you set me up." When I finally said those words to her, her eyes widened as she turned to look at me. Obviously she didn't expect me to ever find out, since she's been pretending to be fine with me over the past couple of months whenever we spoke.

"Lucy-"

"You helped the freaking mafia kidnap me! Don't try and explain yourself to me. I don't want to hear it, you're not worth it." I turned my attention away from a glassy eyed Daliah back to Rafael who was glaring at me while I spoke. "And as for you, I didn't cause anyone any problems. It's you guys who have single handedly ripped my life apart, so I suggest you leave me the hell alone."

The room was once again silent when I finally turned around to leave. Alessio took my hand and walked towards the door with me, but as soon as I heard Rafael's voice I stopped in my tracks.

"Says the whore who screwed the leader of the mafia and then a cop." Alessio also froze next to me as soon as Rafael said those words and suddenly once again all the confidence I had shattered.

"You're a freaking whore Luciana. Alessio might be too clouded by lust or whatever it is, to see it. But Tomasso and I aren't. You brought the cops to us, because you were giving it out to everyone you met. You better watch your freaking back puttana." Before anyone could say another word I stormed out of the room without looking back at anyone.

Usually I would have just been angry about what he said and maybe said a few words back to him, but this time his words hurt me instead. Because it was true. As much as I wanted to believe it wasn't, it was.

I led the cops to Alessio by sleeping with him in the first place, and then I was the reason my own heart got broken the way it did. I should have opened my eyes, I probably missed all the signs that Jake wasn't who he said he was from day one.

I heard someone call my name behind me among the sounds of screaming and shouting but I ignored it and carried on trying to find my way back to the front door through my blurry vision.

A few minutes later I wiped my eyes as another wave of tears made it's way down my face when I realised I was completely lost. I had no clue where I was.

I let out a small sob but quickly covered my mouth when I heard footsteps coming down the dark hallway where I somehow managed to find myself. I leaned against the wall trying to calm my racing heart and heavy breathing when the person said my name.

"Luciana?" I turned towards the sound of the voice and soon enough Alessio's father came into my view. I hurriedly wiped my eyes trying to appear as normal as I could for a sobbing girl completely lost in the building where the Italian Mafia operate from.

"Hi." My words came out quiet as I tried to stop the tears which were never ending. He let out a small chuckle at my greeting and came closer to me, however he suddenly stopped when noticed my worry when I pressed myself tighter against the wall.

"I'm not going to hurt you, don't worry. I just want to make sure you're okay." He held his hand out for me to take and I warily stared at it for a moment before taking it. He pulled me in the opposite direction to where I was originally coming from before letting go of my hand.

I followed him through a number of hallways before we finally came to a door. Ricardo went inside first and held the door open for me while I went inside into what I'm assuming was his office. He closed the door behind while I looked around the old office I was standing in, it gave me shivers just imagining the number of dangerous people who have come in here over the years while he was in charge.

"Luciana take a seat." He sent me a smile while gesturing to the couch across the room from his desk. I sat down and he sat on the couch opposite from me. "What happened?"

"It was just a disagreement...that's all." Ricardo rose and eyebrow and gave me the same smile Alessio does when he knows I'm lying to him. "Well that was hardly a disagreement judging by the tears and the way you ran away. You don't have to tell me everything, just tell me what got you upset. Alessio can fill me in on the rest later."

I nodded and wrung my hands together on my lap unsure of how to phrase my sentence properly without getting shot for saying something wrong or offensive.

"I'm sure you know what happened with the cops the other day..." Ricardo just nodded gesturing for me to continue speaking although he wasn't rushing me in any way. "The cop that arrested me was my boyfriend, but he was undercover. He broke my heart...and he didn't even really exist." I wiped a few tears away from my eyes and took a deep breath before continuing. "Then Rafael threw it back in my face just now. And his girlfriend Daliah was my bestfriend, but Alessio told me she was the one who helped them kidnap me. Oh and I was fired from my job yesterday." I quickly added the last part in when he opened his mouth to speak, but when I did, he just gave me a look of sympathy and something else which I couldn't really understand.

"Luciana, I know your father wasn't very good to you when you were younger and that's a conversation I'll have with you another time. But I did once make him a promise that I would take care of you and your brother if you ever needed anything. I don't break my promises Luciana, I'm a man of my word."

A small smile tugged at my lips when he said the last sentence causing him to frown. "What?"

"Nothing, it's just that Alessio always says that to me. He must have learnt it from you." His frown soon turned into a smile full of pride when I told him that.
"Alessio is very fond of you Luciana. He's twenty six years old and he's never brought a girl here before."

"But we're not together...we're not even friends." He let out a small laugh when I said this and shook his head. I frowned at his reaction but before I could ask what was so funny with a snarky tone, Alessio came storming into the office.

And he was pissed.

"Luciana get up."

Pissed was an understatement.

He was double pissed.

Triple pissed.

More pissed than I ever thought someone could be.

"Luciana." Alessio said my name again with a warning tone and I realised I was still sitting on the couch staring at him. I stood to my feet at the same time as his father. "Alessio calm down, she's upset."

"I don't care. Hurry up Luciana." I flinched at the harsh tone in his voice and made my way towards him not wanting to make him any more angry than he already was.

"Alessio." Alessio just ignored the warning tone in his father's voice and took my hand pulling me out of the office. I struggled to keep up with his furious steps while he dragged me through the hallways until we ended up at a similar door. He pushed the door open before dragging me inside slamming the door behind us.

As soon as he let go of my hand I moved away from him, while he just glared at me, pure rage in his eyes.

"Alessio I know it got out of hand and I probably shouldn't have spoken to Rafael like that but-"

"I don't give a damn about that Luciana." I frowned at his interruption but inside I was swooning at the way he said that. It's just his accent, it gets me everytime and it's thicker when he's angry.

"You don't?" He shook his head and stepped towards me but this time I didn't step back from him. "I'm angry because you ran away. Why do you keep insisting on putting yourself in danger Luciana? First the drinking now this."

He didn't give me a chance to come up with any responses and instead just carried on with his rant. I've realised now that sometimes it's better to just let him finish first before I say anything.

"Do you know what goes on here? Do you?! Because I'm pretty sure you've got a good idea, yet you still think it's a good idea to run away from me. You're not a freaking child Luciana so stop acting like one! One day it's not going to be someone that cares about you that finds you Luciana. It won't be me and it won't be my father."

With each word Alessio was getting himself more and more worked up as he stepped closer to me again.

"You're so damn naive." I narrowed my eyes at his words for the first time showing any sort of reaction, which caused him to raise an eyebrow at me. "What? Do you have something to say?"

Before I could retaliate Alessio's office door burst open revealing Tomasso. His hair and suit were slightly disheveled, but I could only tell because I had seen him before so I knew he only ever looked perfect. He took in the scene in front of him - Alessio and I glaring at each other, as usual, before coming over to stand next to Alessio.

"Do you know how freaking stupid that was? Why would you run away, here of all places?" I let out a small groan as soon as I realised Tomasso was only here to give me another scolding. I made my way over to one of the chairs opposite Alessio's desk and took a seat, closing my eyes.

I had a feeling I was going to be there for a while. And I was.

Half an hour later after both Alessio and Tomasso gave me hell for running away, Alessio finally allowed me to leave. It would have been faster if I didn't start arguing back against everything they said to me. I was bored of just sitting there listening to them shout at me as if I was a five year old child.

I may have been acting like one but it doesn't mean they had the right to shout at me like that.

Alessio and Tomasso began to speak to one another in Italian as we made our way through the numerous hallways once again. Honestly it felt like a maze that was starting to give me a headache.

"Luciana hurry up." I rolled my eyes when Alessio looked over his shoulder to make sure I was still following behind them. "Do you want to hold my hand to make sure I don't get lost?"

Tomasso chuckled next to Alessio at my sarcastic comment but neither of them said a word and instead we just carried on walking in silence. We finally made it to the front door that I was looking for earlier and after another few words Tomasso went off in another direction. "Come on Luciana, let me get you home before you find another freaking way to put your life in danger."

Thankfully he wasn't as angry as he was before but he was definitely still annoyed and I knew he wasn't going to let this go easily.

"Well you're not really the best driver so maybe I shouldn't be getting in that car with you if my life is that precious." Alessio stopped in his tracks next to the same Lamborghini we drove in earlier and turned to face me. I gave him a sweet smile and stopped by the car next to him. "It's a shame you spent so much money on a car yet you're an awful driver."

"I'm a great driver." I shook my head with a small smirk on my face knowing I was getting to him. In all honesty he really was a good driver even though I've only been in a car with him a few times, but it was pissing him off and I was enjoying it.

"Just get in the freaking car Luciana." A small laugh escaped my lips and I patted his arm before making my way over to the passenger side. I heard him mumbling to himself as he went around to the driver side getting in next to me.

"You're lucky I don't hate you. Otherwise you wouldn't be smiling like that." I chuckled at his words while shaking my head.
"Just admit it, you like me."

"I don't like you." I could tell he wasn't being serious although he was trying to be. If he didn't like me he wouldn't have gone to all the trouble over the last few days that he has.

"I don't like you either Del Russo." I heard him chuckle at my use of his last name as he drove out of the main gate protecting the building from any unwanted guests.

"You didn't say that when you begged me to sleep with you." My mouth dropped open and I turned to look at Alessio who had a small smirk on his lips as he focused on the road in front of him. "I did not beg you! I suggested it and you were happy to go along with it."

"Uh-huh." He was still smirking as he increased the speed of the car, weaving in and out of the traffic, heading towards the city.
Both Alessio's house and the place where we just were, were based outside the main city. It was a lot quieter out here and easier to protect I suppose.

"You're so full of yourself Alessio."

"I can make you full of me if you want."

I walked straight into that one.

I shook my head at his words as a deep blush arose on my cheeks causing him to laugh to himself. At least he was in a better mood than earlier.

We eventually pulled up to my apartment building and I turned to look at Alessio who was already staring at me. "What?"

"Nothing." He shook his head at me but continued to stare at me like I hadn't already asked what he was looking at. "Alessio-"

Before I could say anything else Alessio leaned over placing his lips on my cheek. I froze at the sudden contact, I definitely wasn't expecting that.

"Bye Luciana." I slowly nodded my head, still in complete shock over what just happened much to Alessio's amusement. The fact he has this effect on me and I can't hide it makes everything worse.

"Bye." I gave him a small smile before reaching for the door handle. I got out the car, closing the door behind me and began making my way towards the entrance of the building. As I walked away I faintly heard the sound of Alessio's window coming down.

"I'll be here at 8am tomorrow." I turned around do look at him, confusion evident on my face, but before I could ask him what he meant he just drove off leaving me standing there watching after him with only one thought going through my head.

8am was freaking early.
