Chapter 2 - A One Time Thing

~Luciana's POV~

I let out a small groan and moved in closer to the warmth next to me in my bed. As I became more and more awake the strong scent of cologne invaded my senses causing me to frown. I slowly opened my eyes regretting not closing the curtains the night before, when the light shone directly in my eyes. I had to shield my eyes from the sun, looking away from it when they settled on a tattooed chest in front of me.

I can't say I minded waking up to such a beautiful sight, but it's not exactly what I expected.

I glanced up to see Alessio with his arm over his face shielding his eyes from the sunlight, I couldn't tell if he was asleep or not.

So we slept together. That happens.

I slept with a stranger. Again, that happens, it's called a one night stand.

I slept with my kidnapper.

Yeah, that doesn't happen.

I suddenly sat up holding the sheets to my chest before turning to look at Alessio again. The sheet was barely covering his stomach, showing his perfect abs and tattoos. Flashes of last night came back to me...when I ran my hands down his perfect chest, over his abs and down towards...

I let out a sigh and dropped back down on the bed next to him.
This can't be happening.

"Problem?" The sound of Alessio's deep voice caused me to jump, I turned to see him smirking at me.
"I think you know the problem."

"Well you can't blame me. I tried to leave many, many times. You wanted this. We did it three times if I remember correctly." I shook my head at the smugness in his tone and closed my eyes, my mind drifting back to the events of last night.

I managed to get super drunk, some how, then I ended up suggesting to him that he stayed with me and before I knew it my dress was on the floor and I was screaming his name in my bed. I covered my face with my hands when my cheeks began to heat up, only getting worse when he chuckled next to me, probably thinking about the same thing.

One thing I can say about him is that he's seriously bipolar. One minute he's nice, then he's angry, then he's silent, then he's being nice again. Half the time I can't even keep up with my own mood swings, never mind someone else's.

Last night he started acting all weird as soon as I mentioned the mafia. This only increased my suspicions, I had a feeling he was involved in the mafia. I've been around enough of them to know.

"Alessio?" He hummed quietly in response, waiting for me to speak.
"Can I ask you a question?"

He turned his head towards me, curiosity evident in his eyes. "Go ahead."

"Are you in the mafia?" I let the words leave my mouth before I chickened out, because the more I thought about the possibility of him being involved, the more it seemed likely and the more I didn't want to find out the truth. He didn't seem surprised by my question, like he was already expecting it after the conversation last night.

"How much do you want to know Luciana? Because once I tell you, you have to swear Omertà."

"Omertà?" He nodded and ran a hand through his hair with a sigh, clearly he didn't want to be having this conversation with me. "Its an oath. It means you'll keep anything I tell you to yourself, you won't tell anyone. If you break it...you die."

It's really that serious. Of course it would be, if he told me something, he would expect me to keep it to myself. You can die for much less in the mafia than telling someone something you shouldn't. The mafia are ruthless like that, they always have been and they probably always will be.

"Okay. I promise, I won't tell anyone." He rose an eyebrow at me to check that I was serious, before nodding when my confidence didn't waver. "What do you want to know?"

"I take it that it's a yes then? You are in the mafia?" He nodded while turning his head to look at me again, a small smirk on his lips. "What do you do?"

"I'm the Capo." His thick Italian accent sent shivers down my spine. I frowned at his words and let out a sigh. "Everyone keeps saying that, but clearly I'm not an expert in Italian."

"Ah yes, you hate the language, right?" I rolled my eyes at his teasing tone and his attempt to remind me of last night. "Please don't."

I'm not careful when I'm drunk, as you can tell since I'm now lying as naked as ever next to a stranger, who kidnapped me.

"It means the boss."

"You're the boss? As in the leader?" He nodded, his eyes filled with amusement, clearly enjoying my shock. "The one and only."

"Oh." I nodded while staring up at the ceiling, mulling over the new information.

I just had sex with the boss of the Italian Mafia.

Wow. So much for my plan of staying away from the mafia for the rest of my life.

"You don't seem bothered. I just told you I'm the leader of the most powerful organisation in the world, and all you have to say is 'oh'?" I could tell he was amused, he may not have been laughing but I could hear it in his voice.

He was waiting for me to give him a reaction of some sort.

Of course I wasn't going to give him the satisfaction.

"What do you want me to say? Congratulations?" My words caused him to chuckle to himself while shaking his head. A silence fell around us a for a few moments before I asked him another question. "Why did you call my father a traitor? What did he take from you?"

Alessio sighed in response to my question, I could tell he didn't want to answer it. But he did anyway.

"He didn't take anything, he just knows a lot, things that could potentially be...damaging. We have reason to believe he could be working with some other people. That's why we need to find him."

I didn't really know how to feel about the whole situation to do with my father. I know he never treated us right, and obviously he's still out there causing shit for other people now, but he's my father. He'll always be my father, I know he loved me once, maybe when I was very young. I never really got to stick around to see if he might change, a thought I've always wondered about. What if he did want to change? What if he was going to? I never got to give him a chance. All I ever wanted was the love a father, something I never really experienced.

"If you do find him...please don't kill him." I looked at Alessio properly, this time his jaw was clenched, obviously not liking what I just said. Eventually he turned to look at me and I think he could see the seriousness in my expression. He wasn't happy, that much was clear. But eventually he nodded. I can't lie and say I wasn't surprised because I definitely was.

I didn't think someone like him would take too kindly to having people tell him what to do or how to go about his business. Not that I was even rude about it, but like I said in my experience, you can die for very little in the Mafia.

I know the second my suspicions were confirmed about who he was I should have kicked him out, and trust me the thought did cross my mind. But it's not like I'm ever going to see him again, there's nothing else between us apart from a one night stand. So there really should be no reason for me to worry, nothing is going to happen.

So for now I'll just continue with my confident act, until he leaves. Then I can I have my emotional breakdown.

"Alessio." He let out a sigh and turned to look at me again, obviously having had enough of my questions.

"You do realise this-" I used my finger to gesture between the two of us. "-is a one time thing, right? And it also doesn't mean I've forgive you for kidnapping me."
A small smirk soon stretched across his face and he nodded. "Of course. I did say I would leave you alone when I got what I wanted. You won't see my men again, I can promise you that."

A small laugh escaped my lips at his words causing him to frown. "What's so funny?"

I just shook my head in response and turned away from him trying to control my laughter. It took me a minute before I was able to look at him again without laughing.

"You purposely left a loop hole in there. Just because I can't see them, doesn't mean they're not there." Once he understood what I was saying a small smirk made its want onto his face. "You got that, huh? You're good."

I narrowed my eyes at him watching his movements as his smirk increased and he reached out, placing his arm over my waist pulling me closer to him. Alessio was soon hovering over me, his hands trapping my own on either side of us. "Since it's the only time it's happening, there's no harm in doing it one more time, is there?"

A small laugh left my lips as he leaned down, placing his perfect lips on mine again.

After going another round, we eventually managed to get out of bed. I took a quick shower before Alessio took a shower as well, after trying to convince me to let him shower with me.

He sent me that same smug smirk as he made his way into my kitchen, taking a seat at the breakfast bar across from where I was standing. He was dressed in the same suit from last night minus the tie and jacket. I rolled my eyes at his smugness and pushed a cup of coffee towards him.

He mumbled a 'thank you' and took a sip before placing the mug back down. "Are you ever going to apologise for kidnapping me?"

"Nope. I didn't hurt you, I'd say I even looked after you, if you know what I mean." He sent me a wink while taking another sip of his coffee, causing my cheeks to heat up.

"It doesn't matter if I got hurt, you still illegally took me from a club, drugged me and tied me to a chair."

"Technically, Tomasso did that. Not me. Anyway, I bought you food didn't I? I don't know why you eat that crap but you seemed to enjoy it, so what's the problem?"

I rolled my eyes and took a sip of my own coffee, I needed it after the night I had last night. I was too hungover to have this conversation with him.

"Luciana I need to talk to you about something. Last night you met a lot of people...some of whom may not be so loyal to me."

The way he was speaking was similar to how someone would speak to a child who they didn't want to upset. Most likely it wouldn't be their own child, so they didn't want to risk upsetting someone else's kid.

"What are you trying to say?" Alessio was about to speak again when his phone started ringing causing him to curse in Italian. He took it out before glancing at me, then answering the call. He spoke to the other person in Italian for a few moments before he hung up again.

"Is something wrong?" He shook his head and quickly drank some more of his coffee before standing up. "No, I just need to go. Back to what I was saying - there's a small chance you're on the radars of some of the people you met. I'm not saying anything is going to happen because it's unlikely, but just take my number in case it does. It was never my intention to get you hurt."

He put his hand out to take my phone and quickly added his phone number into it. "You can call me if you ever need me." I nodded in response to what he said, sending him a small smile as a thank you.

I walked with him to the door while he put his suit jacket back on properly. Obviously appearances matter a lot to these mafia men.

"Don't forget Luciana, you can't tell anyone anything I've told you. I know you won't but I have to say it anyway." I nodded in understanding, I get why he would be so cautious about it all, they always are.

"Bye then." The bluntness in my words caused him to laugh as he turned to face me. "Thats it? I just gave you the best night of your life and that's all you have to say?"

"Oh, are you referring to the one when I woke up tied to a chair?" I rose an eyebrow at him playfully, knowing that he was referring to the activities that we got up to last night.

"Of course I am." He flashed me his signature smirk before leaning down and placing a kiss on my lips.

"Bye Luciana." He pecked my lips one more time before leaving out my front door.

That's not how I pictured my Sunday starting that's for sure.

~ Alessio's POV ~

I rolled my eyes at the looks I received when I walked into my office where Rafael and Tomasso were waiting for me.

"How was she? The puttana." I sent a glare in Tomasso's direction while taking a seat at my desk. "Don't call her that."

"She's the daughter of a freaking traitor Alessio! Of course she is." I began shifting through the papers on my desk getting up to date with anything I'd missed since we left for the gala last night. "Are you trying to tell me how to handle my business?"

"Oh please, forgive me Capo. I'm just trying to freaking remind you of what's been going on here while you've been out screwing her." I scoffed at Tomasso's sarcasm and finally looked up from my papers, raising an eyebrow at him. He's the only other person apart from my father who can speak to me like that, if anyone else did I would kill them in seconds.

"It was one freaking night, it didn't mean anything - she knows that."

"Does she? Look at the time Alessio! If you were with any other bitch you would have been back hours ago, or even last night. Don't screw this up Capo, we need him dead." I let out a sigh as I watched Tomasso storm out of my office, slamming the door behind him. That idiot needs to learn some manners.

I sat for another few minutes with Rafael going over some business that needed attending to before he finally left me in peace.

I made my way over to the my selection of alcohol and poured a glass, knocking it back straight away.

Last night was a freaking disaster. It wasn't my intention to sleep with her, I never even thought about it until she suggested it, multiple times and then all the sense I had just went out the freaking window - which tends to happen after I've had a few drinks.

I knew exactly who she was, I didn't need Tomasso to remind me, but I also knew she wouldn't be a threat. She wasn't the person I should have been concerned about, it was her father.

Giuseppe Donato was one of my fathers closest friends, they worked together for over 20 years running the Italian Mafia together. He was his right hand man, just like Tomasso is for me, he was one of the only people who could speak to my father in a certain way. He never had to hold back because their relationship was that solid.

Now that the situation in the mafia is changing; my father is getting older and I'm in the process of taking over completely from him, he hasn't been happy. He first started opposing a lot of the decisions that my father and I made together, anything I was involved in he didn't like. Then he began to make his feelings a lot more clearer in meetings and gatherings, something my father never would have expected from such a close friend of his. Of course, he let it slide. He put it down to Giuseppe not liking the new changes and the forward thinking that I had since he always wanted to stick to traditional methods.

But then Giuseppe started going AWOL, he was never answering his phone and hardly ever turning up for meetings. That was until we found out he was working with the freaking Russians. Sharing our intel and secrets with them, something we can't allow. He knew too much, he'd been at my father's side for such a long time, if he was smart enough he could single handedly take us down if he tried to.

That's where Luciana came in. I never needed to know who she was until last week when we found out about his involvement with the Russians. It only took us a few days to find the perfect opportunity to get her, but like I suspected, she either really didn't know anything or she was very good at hiding it.

Either way from there it all went south when we slept together.

I'm a man of my word. She asked me not to kill her father and guess which idiot was too busy thinking about what it would be like to be sleep with her again to think straight. She clouded my judgement, and now I've got to explain to Tomasso that we can't kill Giuseppe because she asked me not to...

...and I was too horny to think straight.
