~ Luciana's POV ~

"Hi." I rose an eyebrow at Alessio who dropped down on the seat opposite my desk with a cheeky grin plastered across his face. I put my pen down on my desk and leaned back, waiting for him to say something. I'd been expecting him to give me an unexpected visit at work soon, it just happened a lot faster than I expected.

"How's your new car?" It had been three days since that night and I still couldn't get over the fact Alessio had bought me a new car which was almost three times the price of my old one, just because he thought the bomb was his fault. I mean it probably was but he didn't have to do that for me, it really was too much.

"It's very nice thank you, even though I didn't want an upgrade." I gave him a pointed look causing him to roll his eyes, not paying any attention to what I said.

"What are you doing here? I do have work to do you know." He gave me an amused smile at this. "I think you're forgetting I own this company. You're not the only thing here that I have to take care of." He gave me a wink when he said the last bit causing me to roll my eyes knowing exactly what he meant. "Well, go and do that then."

"So you're in a bad mood then." He nodded to himself and slowly stood to his feet, his tone becoming much less amused. "I'm not in a bad mood, I've just got a lot to do."

I really was in a bad mood, but Alessio didn't need to know about the blood that was currently flowing out of me. It was too much information, we weren't that close yet.

"I'll leave you to get on with it then." I could by his tone he was annoyed. Again. I feel like he couldn't handle someone ever saying no to him, or telling him what to do. He's probably so used to being the capo that unless it's his parents he can't handle it.

"Alessio." He stopped in his tracks by the door when he heard my voice as I stood up, making my way over to him. I moved around him so that I was facing him and slid my arms around his waist, leaning up so that I could press my lips against his. "I really do love the car." I mumbled against his lips, giving him a small smile which disappeared the second he pressed his lips to mine again, this time with a lot more intensity than the last kiss.

Eventually he pulled away from me, giving me the same grin from earlier. "I'll come by your apartment and see you later, I need to talk to you about something, since you're too busy for me now." I rolled my eyes at his sarcastic dig and pecked his lips once last time. "Just go before you cause an argument."

He chuckled at my words before finally leaving my office. He was seriously irritating, yet cute at the same time.

I managed to get through the whole day and before I knew it I was curled up on my couch after a couple of hours of binge watching The Vampire Diaries for the third time, now contemplating wether I should even bother going to bed or just sleep on the couch. I was one of the laziest people ever, but I had an excuse, I was on my period. So I was allowed to be as lazy as I wanted.

My eyes began to shut once again when the sound of knocking on my door startled me awake. I'd completely forgot Alessio said he was going to come over, but he really needs to learn better time management. Letting out a tired groan I managed to drag myself off the couch and down the hallway to the front door. I opened the door sending Alessio a tired glare, to which he just smiled. This was the first time I've ever seen him outside his own house in sweats and a hoodie. Honestly I could just stare at him for the rest of my life and not get bored. He could make anything look good.

"I'm tired. Go away." He rolled his eyes at my words and closed the door behind himself when I walked away, going back to the living room. Sadly now that I was up I had to do the mature thing and tidy up before going to sleep in my bed. I was actually really serious about just sleeping on the couch. The perks of living alone I suppose.

"It's only 9:30pm." I sent Alessio another glare while he leaned against the wall watching me fold the blanket and fix the cushions that were on the couch. "Well it's late for me, so what do you want?"

He rose an eyebrow at my cold tone before pushing himself off the wall, coming over to me. He gently pried the cushion out of my hand, tossing it back down on the couch before pulling me in closer to him. "Firstly, don't talk to me like that amore mio. Now tell me what's wrong, you're not usually this...bitchy."

My mouth dropped open at the word he used and I tried to pull myself out of his grip which only tightened in response.

"I am not being a bitch! It's none of your business Alessio, so if you don't have anything to say just go." My outburst only seemed to amuse him, which just flared my temper even further. "You're cute when you're mad."

"Let me go." He just shook his head and leaned down closer to my face. "Tell me what's wrong first."

"No." The more I refused to tell him what was wrong, the less amused he became. It was clear if I tried to hold out any longer I'd probably die. He just seemed like that type of guy.

"I got my period this morning, okay? Happy now?" Realisation soon dawned on him before a frown took over his face. "Why didn't you want to tell me that? It's not that big of a deal Luciana."

I shook my head and tried to move away from him again, which finally he allowed. He dropped his arms to his sides, watching me take a few steps away from him with the frown still etched on his face. "It is for me. Alessio why are you even here?"

"Forget it. It doesn't matter." I narrowed my eyes at him while he stared at me for a moment before he stepped closer to me, taking my hand in his. "Why is it a big deal?"

"It just is Alessio. I don't like talking about it and well, we're not really in a relationship or anything, so you probably don't care, or you find it gross." He rolled his eyes at the last part and pulled me closer to him once again. "I have two younger sisters amore mio, I've got more experience with this than you think. It doesn't matter if we're in a relationship or not, I still care about you. You can tell me anything."

I nodded while wrapping my arms around his waist in a hug, closing my eyes while resting my head against his chest. "You're going to have to put up with my bad moods if you want to stick around me. Most of the guys I've ever been with just tend to leave me alone until my period is finished."

Alessio chuckled at this, tightening his grip around me almost possessively when I mentioned the other guys.
"Trust me Luciana, I'm not like the boys you've been with before. I can handle it."

I pulled away from him and gave him a small smile, keeping a hold of his hand in mine. "I'm probably worse than some of the angry men you've had to deal with."

"From what I've just seen, I can imagine." He gave me that same cheeky grin he always gives me before kissing my cheek. "Stay here with me tonight Alessio."

"I will if you promise me you won't get angry during the night and try to kill me in my sleep." I rolled my eyes at his attempt at a joke and pushed him away from me slightly so that I could finish tidying up those damn cushions and go to sleep. Adulting is hard. "Don't worry I'm sure that's something you would do."

"Please Luciana, I have people for that."

I finally managed to get into bed half an hour later with Alessio, after he decided he was hungry so he made some food. Of course, I had to eat as well. There was food on offer, I wasn't going to turn it down no matter what time of day it was.

"I'm just saying, when you have guests Luciana, you should treat them properly." I rolled my eyes at his teasing tone and turned over to face him properly. The small amount of light coming from outside through the curtains was enough for me to see the teasing smile on his face clearly.

"I got you a glass for your water, what else do you want?" This time Alessio rolled his eyes before wrapping his arm around my waist pulling me in closer to him letting me rest my head on his shoulder. "Anyway, now that all that's out the way, I came over to speak to you about something. Don't fall asleep yet."

I had to force my eyes open when he said this. "Hurry up then I'm tired and you're making me too comfortable."

"I have to go to Chicago on Friday for a dinner. Anyway, I need a date and since we had such a blast last time, I thought you'd like to come with me." I lifted my neck a little so that I could look at him properly while raising an eyebrow. "Are you asking me on a date Alessio?"

"I know you're tired amore mio but I thought it was pretty obvious."

"You really came all this way to ask me that?" Alessio nodded as I sat up properly to look at him. "Of course, I wasn't going to ask you on the phone, and you were being annoying this morning." He winked at me when he saw the annoyance on my face, but before I could respond he carried on speaking. "So is that a yes?"

I pursed my lips for a moment pretending to think about it for a moment before nodding. "Yes."

<<<<<<< >>>>>>> <<<<<<<

Friday finally came around and before I knew it Alessio and I were on his private jet waiting to take off to Chicago. Apparently Tomasso and Rafael were already in Chicago for this dinner that Alessio needs me to come with him for. He said it's because other people were bringing dates so he thought he'd take me. Once I'd got over the initial shock of Alessio asking me on a date it dawned on me that this was all part of his mafia business. So naturally I tried to get out of it but he wouldn't let me, I tried to explain I was carried away with the idea about going on a date with him and that I didn't think things through properly but he ignored all of that.

"I hate you Alessio." He glanced over at me from his seat, opposite from me on the jet with a small smile. "You don't. You're just throwing a tantrum, it's okay I understand."

"I am not throwing a tantrum, I told you I don't want anything to do with the mafia."

"Would you rather I took someone else? It's not too late." Even though he said it with a joking tone, I knew he was being serious. I didn't like the thought of him taking someone else, but I also didn't like the thought of going with him. "I don't know."

"Luciana, you know I'll never let anything happen to you. But if you really don't want to go, I'm not going to force you." Alessio waited for me to think about it again, seconds later after he finished speaking the captain came over to us. "Sir we're ready to take off when you are."

Alessio held a hand up for him to wait while he rose an eyebrow at me, patiently waiting for my answer. Although I was always so adamant I would never get involved with the mafia again, I knew I trusted him enough to know Alessio would never let me get hurt.

And I really didn't like the idea of another girl going with him.

I slowly nodded, letting him know that I was okay to go with him. He gave me a smile and turned to the captain to tell him it was okay to take off.

"You can still change your mind if you want to later Luciana." I gave him a small smile of my own when he said this. The flight to Chicago was almost three hours long and by the time we landed I was absolutely bored out of my mind. Alessio, obviously being the workaholic that he is, brought a laptop with him to get some work done. And me being the pain in the ass that I am, didn't let him get much done at all. I just talked the whole time until he finally moved away from me. Then I went to sleep for the last half an hour of the flight.

"You're so damn irritating." I rolled my eyes at Alessio's annoyed tone and rested my head against his shoulder. We were currently in the fancy car being driven to our hotel, and Alessio was still annoyed about what happened during the flight. He was complaining about how much work he had to do and how little be got done because of me.

"It's not my fault you have no discipline Alessio. You got distracted too easily." Instead of responding to my comment he just mumbled things to himself in Italian. The rest of the drive went by in silence and eventually we pulled up to the fancy hotel we were staying in for one night. I felt Alessio nudge me when we pulled up causing me to lift my head up off his shoulder, instantly the sight of the brightly lit hotel in front of us capturing my attention.

It was definitely one of those places that only rich people go to. So I would definitely be sticking out like a sore thumb for the rest of this trip. Great.

I followed Alessio into the grand lobby, which was completely empty apart from the few couples walking in and out of the hotel or the odd few business men dotted around on some of the couches talking on their phones. "Tomasso already checked us in earlier, come on." I rolled my eyes at the mention of Tomasso's name causing Alessio to smile. "Of course he did."

"Why do you two hate each other so much?"

"He kidnapped me, and he's just rude. I don't like rude people Alessio." We stepped into the elevator and Alessio leaned against the wall watching me in amusement while I ranted to him about his bestfriend. "I don't even want to know how many times he's called me a whore and he basically called me ugly that day when he kidnapped me, I didn't tell you that. At least I can attract people unlike him. If anyone ever sleeps with him I'm telling you it's because he's threatened them or they feel sorry for him."

He let out a laugh at the last part when the doors opened and we stepped out onto our floor. "You're not ugly, don't worry. I think you're beautiful." He sent me a wink as we walked down the fancy hallway to our room. Alessio seemed to know where he was going so I just followed behind him, thankful he was in front so he couldn't see my blush.

We got to our room and Alessio rang the bell, seconds later the door was opened by the very person I didn't want to see.

"Look Luciana it's your bestfriend." I rolled my eyes at Alessio's teasing tone and pushed past the two into the room, which turned out to be a huge suite. There was a huge living room in the middle, and on both sides there was an en-suite bedroom. I'm assuming since Tomasso is here, he has one of the rooms and Alessio and I were sharing the other one.

"I still don't understand why you couldn't bring someone better than her." I turned to look at Tomasso who was already glaring at me, while Alessio just rolled his eyes at the comment. "Why don't you just go and do something illegal and be quiet."

"There's a few illegal things I'd like to do to you." I narrowed my eyes at Tomasso when he reached his hand behind him, probably to take out the gun that was no doubt tucked in the back of his pants.

"That's enough." Before either one of us could say another word someone rang the door bell. Alessio sent us both one last pointed look before opening the door revealing the bell hop man with our bags. He took our bags into the bedroom that Alessio nodded towards before quickly leaving us. He probably knew exactly who these two were so I don't blame him for wanting to get out of here as soon as possible. It's just a shame I'm stuck staying in the same suite as them. Alessio I don't mind, but Tomasso just scared the hell out of me.

"We need to get ready for dinner later, so both of you just be quiet, I already have a freaking headache." Alessio gave me a look when he said the last part, obviously blaming his headache on me. He walked past both of us going towards our room, leaving Tomasso and I glaring at one another. "Go on Luciana, you need as much time as you can get."

I narrowed my eyes at him before taking a few steps away, still keeping my eyes on him. "I'm just going to be the mature one here and walk away." Just before I turned around, flipping my hair over my shoulder, I'm pretty sure I saw Tomasso's lips twitch upwards slightly at my words.

I closed the door to Alessio and I's room and dropped down next to Alessio on the couch by the window, overlooking the city of Chicago. "Alessio I'm tired."

The flight had really tired me out. The flight itself wasn't too long but I still had to wake up for work at the usual time this morning so I was more tired than usual, especially since it was Friday. It was around 6pm now and I was just ready to have a nap.

"I don't care, get ready." Alessio had his eyes closed while he spoke to me, clearly he was just as tired as me and of course he said he has a headache too. "You're not getting ready."

"I'm not a girl, I don't take an hour." I scoffed at his words and tiredly rested my head on his shoulder. It was honestly the comfiest position ever. "I don't take an hour to get ready, don't be so sexist Alessio."

"So how long do you need then?"

I placed my arm over Alessio's stomach getting closer to him letting out a yawn as I got more comfortable. "Maybe about an hour."

<<<<<<< >>>>>>> <<<<<<<<

I was finishing touching up the curls in my hair when both Alessio and Tomasso came storming into the room causing me to jump. I looked at Alessio in the mirror to see the same glare he had been sporting for the last hour and a half.

"You said an hour Luciana. Hurry up." I rolled eyes and put my curlers down after switching them off. I stood up straightening my dress while grabbing my clutch which thankfully already had everything I needed in. I was wearing a navy knee length bodycon dress with black heels and my hair in loose curls down my back. I decided to keep my make up minimal, which basically meant I put everything on but just wore a nude lipstick instead of red. I was an all or nothing girl, I couldn't do half a face and that's it.

"I said maybe about an hour. I didn't say one hour exactly. What's the rush anyway? It's just us isn't it?" I ignored the glare Tomasso was giving me, finally looking at Alessio for the first time. Both of them were dressed in their usual fancy suits, but this time Alessio opted for a dark grey one instead of his usual black one. I gave him a small smile when his eyes raked over my body before he nodded in approval. "You look beautiful and no actually we're meeting some people for dinner."

"Yeah, yeah, she looks great, let's go now." Tomasso stormed out of the room causing me to roll my eyes at his overreaction. I was only fifteen minutes later than the time they said to leave, it wasn't as bad as he was making out.

It only took us twenty minutes to drive to the restaurant where we were going for dinner. I held Alessio's hand as we walked into the fancy restaurant, heading straight to the back where the waiter directed us to the private rooms. "Be careful what you say Luciana, they know who your father is so just try not to say anything stupid. And don't be so nervous, they'll be able to tell from a mile away." I rolled my eyes at Tomasso's words as we made our way to the private room.

"I hardly ever say stupid things and I'm not nervous." Both of them chuckled at my comment causing me to frown. I wanted to make a comment back but Alessio just placed a kiss on my temple when we stopped outside the door, probably knowing I was about to protest against what they said. "You'll be fine, just wait until they speak to you."

Alessio squeezed my hand for reassurance when Tomasso opened the door. I really was nervous and I knew they could both tell, but you can't blame me, right? Last time I went to the gala with Alessio I just got judged by all the women and basically ignored for the whole night. Now it's just Alessio, Tomasso and I with a few other mafia people. There was no way they were going to ignore me for the entire night.
