The Sacrafice

"Head towards the stair well, we can jump fro this building to the one next to it" Ramses yelled, taking the lead after the zombies cut off their destination.

"I don't think we'll be able to make it up the stairs fast enough considering our conditions." Sarah yelled back at Ramses as they did their best to run down the hallway to the stair well.

Nobody disagreed with Sarah, because everyone knew she was right. The only way for anyone to survive is if Sterling and Ramses went on without them and left them to be eaten. However even then, they would only hold the zombies off for so long until they became zombies themselves and got lost in the crowd. Just as they were entering the stair well, Grey broke free of Sterling and planted himself at the door way.

"Go! Get out of here! I'll hold them back!" Grey looped his bandages and tied himself to either side of the door way.

"No! Stop trying to save me all the time! Stop being a hero!" Sarah yelled as she tried to fight past Sterling who was forcing her up the stairs. "Let me go! We can't leave him!" Ramses came back down the stairs and helped Sterling pull her up stairs.

"You have to leave him, me made his choice. Don't fight this and get us killed. Because then his sacrifice will be in vain." Sterling Yelled as he struggled to fight her up the stairs.

Sarah finally gave in, running up the stairs with Sterling and Ramses. They made it half way up the stairs when Sarah heard the zombies hit the doorway, but none came into the stair way.

When the zombies collided with Grey it felt like being hit by a train. The zombies pried and clawed to get by him and as used all of his strength to hold them back. The zombies bit and fought passed Grey in vain as he held them back. His sight began to fade out, but he would not let his strength, he would not let anyone else die. Grey knew it had to be him to hold the zombies back, for he would have been the slowest to get up the stairs and he had the least to lose by stopping the zombies.

Everyone made it up most of the stairs before the zombies broke through and started flooding up the stairs. But they had made it, within a few moments they were down the hallway and jumping from one balcony to another on the building across from them. They landed one floor down, Sarah and Sterling's jumps were successful, Ramses hit the edge and had to be pulled up. They quickly made their way to the bottom of the building and found an alleyway that was recently emptied to fill the building they just jumped out of.

The rest of the escape was relatively easy since most of the zombies were now behind them. They once they hit the woods it was just a half day walk back to the Ironclad colony. When they got about half way, the Twins left to return to the Arla colony. Sarah's walk home was the loneliest walk she ever had, her own thoughts were her enemy.

When she made it to the colony, the sun was rising on the horizon. Sarah entered and headed straight for the Town Hall. When she entered an air of silence fell over every room she walked through. Sarah walked right into Ironclad's room, startling him as she entered.

"Welcome back, where's Grey?" Sarah completely ignored the question.

"I need to talk to you, about the Jafar colony."

Sarah told Ironclad everything that Wolfe had said about how the colony was corrupted and how they wanted to take over the other colonies. Ironclad listened to everything Sarah had to say, and when she had finished, he poured her some tea.

"Thank you, for everything. I shall have everything taken care of, go get some rest." Sarah could hear Ironclad forcing his sorrow down. It must have been hard for him, losing Grey and a colony.

Sarah wondered what course of action Ironclad was going to take. Would he send in an army to kill them before they can attack? Will he set up a defense to counter strike their army? Will he send in a special task force of Hunters to kill them in the night? Sarah settled on finding out later, but wasn't going to rest. After everything that happened she was as far from relaxation as possible. She drank the tea, and cried.
