|TWENTY TWO| Marks

Twilight's POV

I stared at Dove as she decided exactly where she wanted to get the tattoo done. Am I nervous? Yes!

It's normal for me to tattoo other people, but Dove is my girlfriend, and she'll be getting a tattoo that I designed. This is new for me, and that's why it's making me nervous. What if she doesn't like it later? Tattoos are pretty painful, and I don't want to cause her pain, even if she is okay with it.

"Can I get it done here?" She inquired, pointing over her left shoulder. I gawked at her for a few seconds; if she wants it done there, then I'll have to ask her to remove her t-shirt. Will that make me look like a pervert? I mean, normally I won't think this way—I don't even know why I am overthinking this, to be exact.

"Are you... sure?" I asked.

"Of course," she said with a smile.

"Well then, I'll have to ask you to remove your t-shirt," I said nervously. She chuckled.

"You are so nervous, bunny," she said, caressing my cheeks as she tiptoed closer to me and pecked my lips with her soft ones. "Don't be nervous." "I know what I asked for."

She stepped back and pulled her t-shirt over her head. I tried my best not to stare at her semi-exposed torso for too long, though I admit her body is so beautiful. I put on a pair of gloves and gulped as I placed my hands on her shoulders.

"Sit," I mumbled. as I helped her sit on the chair. I took another chair and sat in front of her. "Sorry, I'll just have to..."

I pulled down the left strap of her bra, and she looked at me with an amused expression, which made me even more nervous. Why does she always look at me like that? Is my nervousness amusing?

"You can place your hand over your chest to stop your bra from slipping off," I said. She did as I told her to do.

"Bunny, is it the first time you are giving a woman a tattoo on her chest?" Dove asked. I gulped as I shook my head.

"Then why are you so nervous?" She asked. "Please behave like you do with all your customers." "You don't have to be nervous just because I'm your girlfriend."

I took a deep breath and then sighed. She's right; I shouldn't be nervous. This is one thing I do every day: I tattoo people. Why should I be nervous doing my regular job?

"Okay," I said. I pulled her chair closer to mine. I cleaned the area where the stencil is supposed to be applied and pasted the stencil over her exposed region. I took a mirror and showed her where the design would be made.

"Is this okay with you?" I asked.

"It's a perfect place!" "Right above my heart!" She exclaimed. I grinned as I picked up the tattoo machine and inserted new, fresh needles and ink into it.

"This might hurt a bit," I said as I turned on the machine. I adjusted the voltage to get the perfect speed.

The first thing I did was start tattooing the outline. Normally, someone getting a tattoo for the first time would flinch or even cry. But I got no such reaction from Dove. Like she was so used to being in pain.
I paused in between to clean up the excess ink on her chest.

"Is it not hurting?" I asked.

"This is nothing," she replied. I nodded, not prying further as I continued to do my work. Even through gloves, I could feel the softness of her skin. Her collarbones are so perfect and prominent. Right now I might be marking her with ink, but someday I'll mark every inch of her body with my kisses.

After I was done tattooing, I cleaned her freshly inked tattoo and skin. I stared at the art I created on her beautiful, unmarked skin for a moment; it looked beautiful on her.

"Do you want to take a look in a full-length mirror?" I asked her. She nodded as I helped her up from the chair and led her to the full-length mirror.

"This is so beautiful," she said, mesmerized by the art that covered her skin. I pushed her hair away from behind her neck. Her neck was covered with burn marks, and I gasped. I know she has already told me about the hell she went through in the juvenile center. But to see it with my own eyes was so painful.

"Is this the—"

"The burn marks I mentioned," she replied quickly. "They are ugly, aren't they?"

I caressed her exposed sides as I placed a few soft kisses on her neck and trailed them down towards her shoulder. She closed her eyes, enjoying the moment.

"Everything about you is so fucking beautiful." "And these marks just show how much you have endured and how strong you are," I said, kissing her shoulder blades. She hummed in response. We heard a knock on the door.

"Light, we're leaving," Shane said from the doorway. He didn't enter the room, giving us our privacy. If it were Luis, he would have barged in by now.

"Okay, I'll close the studio later then," I replied.

"See you tomorrow," he said. "Enjoy your time with Dove."

"Yeah! See you!" I replied. I looked at Dove and smiled.

"Come on, let's get your tattoo covered now," I said as I led her towards the chair again. I cleaned the tattoo again and applied a Saniderm cover to it.

"You will have to keep this cover for the next 2–3 days." "When it starts peeling off, meet me again." "I will replace it with a new one," I said. "You can continue your daily routine carefree." "Don't be concerned about getting the cover wet while showering." "It doesn't get affected."

"My boyfriend is full of knowledge," she replied, pulling me into a hug. I chuckled.

"I am glad you liked the tattoo," I said.

"I loved it," she replied. A message popped up on her mobile phone as she let go of me.

She picked up her mobile phone and checked the message. After reading whatever was written in it, she smirked. It was not her usual smirk; it was a sly smirk. It was like she was hoping for something to happen, and it did. I have never seen this expression on Dove's face before.

"Sorry, bunny, I'll have to leave now," she said as she wore her t-shirt.

"Who?" I asked.

"An old acquaintance," she replied. "You gave me a really pretty tattoo." "So when I come back here again in 2-3 days, I'll also have something for you."
She winked and pecked my cheeks.

"Come on, drop me until I get to the outside," she said as she drew me up.

"Why till the outside?" I asked. "I'll drop you at the place where you are meeting your friend."

"It's okay, bunny." "He is standing outside," she replied. I nodded as we both walked out of the room and then to the studio.

I saw a man standing at a distance from my studio, wearing a long overcoat. He stood on the darker side of the road, maybe unintentionally, but either way, it was impossible to figure out what he looked like.

Normally I won't be bothered by trivial matters like this, but the man seemed dangerous. Everything about him defied the definition of "normal." Maybe it's just a feeling, but I suddenly don't want Dove to go anywhere with this man.

I saw Dove, who was waving at the man, as the man gave her no reaction at all. It's pretty rude if you ask me, but then again, I don't know him, so who am I to judge? She turned to look at me, and her brown eyes softened.

"I'll get going now," she said. I leaned in and captured her lips with mine. A quick, loving kiss wouldn't hurt, would it?

"Text me when you reach home," I said, caressing her cheeks with my thumb. She hummed in return.

"Also, tell Bel I would love to hang out with him someday, if possible," I said, rubbing my neck. "I kind of forgot to exchange phone numbers with him." "But he seems like a fun guy, so I would love to spend more time with him."
She grinned as her eyes sparkled, and she nodded.

"I am so glad Bel is finally making friends," she stated. "I'll inform him about this."

"Okay then."

"See you later, bunny," she waved.

"See you later, kitten." I waved back with a smile. The man from earlier disappeared into the shadows as Dove followed behind him.

Something didn't feel quite right. Should I follow her? But if I do, there won't be any difference between me and one of those stalkers or obsessive boyfriends who can't leave their girl alone because they don't trust her.

I trust Dove, so instead, I'll just call her in an hour or so to ask her if she has reached home safely or not.
