|THIRTY| Replacement
Dove's POV
Leviathan— or should I start calling him Nash now, stared at Snow White intently. Snow White just sweetly smiled at him.
"Why is your code name Snow White?" I asked. He chuckled and pointed at his platinum-blonde hair. His hair sure was of snow white colour.
"Is that your natural hair colour?" I questioned. I once again observed his face. He was good looking and the scar on his cheek added a flaw to his beauty.
"Yes."
"The offer you told me about makes sense, but I will have to talk about it to someone first. I cannot answer you right away," Leviathan said. I change my mind, I am going to keep referring to him as 'Leviathan' and not 'Nash'.
"But since you already know about the identity of the sins, I cannot let you leave from here alive," Leviathan pulled out his gun and pointed it at Snow White. I gasped. No! if he kills him now I might never get my hands on those evidence against Lucifer.
"Think carefully, Nash. Do you really want to kill an innocent man and get your hands more bloodied?" Snow White spoke. My eyes sparkled as I stared at the white-haired man with an awe expression on my face. He's so twisted.
But Leviathan looked like he had already made up his mind, so I stepped between him and Snow White.
"If you want to kill him. You'll have to kill me too since I also got to know about you and your past life," I said. Manipulating Leviathan was never my plan. But that evidence is too important right now. I am sorry, my mentor.
"Get away from there, Chaos. What nonsense is this?" Leviathan spoke out of frustration.
"I mean it, Levy. Kill me first if you want to kill him," I stood there stubbornly.
Leviathan's hands shook as an irked expression settled on his face like he was contemplating his decision. I know he will never shoot me. He would never harm someone he has sworn to protect. Leviathan is too kind for his good, and I am the evil one to take advantage of his kindness.
"Don't get yourself involved in this, Dove! This is not going to end well!" Leviathan said as he finally pulled the gun back. But the thing is someone like Leviathan should never have gotten involved with Lucifer.
"I am already involved in this, 'cause I am already involved with the sins," I said. Leviathan sighed.
"I am leaving for now. But I will contact you soon, Snow White. So you better not be lying about what all you said," Leviathan said. Snow White raised his hands in defence.
"I am not lying about anything. I mean every word I spoke," Snow White stated as if he just wasn't manipulating Leviathan into not killing him when he said that it would be fine if Leviathan chooses to kill him.
Whatever games this man— Snow White is playing is very dangerous. But he's an important chess piece I won't want to lose.
"And you!" Leviathan pointed at me. "Go home! You look like you haven't slept in many days."
I poked my tongue out at him. "I am fine. All are healthy, even if I haven't slept in days. It's nothing new."
"Go home Chaos, while I'm being nice," Leviathan tried to threaten me.
"Okay okay~," I said.
"I'm taking my leave then. I was here for some other business anyway," Leviathan said as he walked away as if nothing happened here. Sheesh! These criminals are smooth as hell.
I looked at Snow White who was smiling at me innocently. I tilted my head at him.
"You cannot deceive me," I spoke with a poker face. He smirked and leaned in making me step back a bit. His aura radiated the same energy as Lucifer's.
"I know I can't," he said. "Your intelligence is on the same level as Lucifer."
"What is your real name?" I asked. Even though I felt intimidated by him, he doesn't need to know that.
"Don't have any," he replied like a robot almost immediately. I raised my eyebrows at him. He spoke in a manner as if he was brainwashed into speaking certain sentences.
"Interesting..." I stared at him. He is a special agent who is very highly trained from a very young age.
Why would the government take such extreme measures just to take down one criminal organization? I mean making a whole agency to do this task is bit too much.
"Hopefully you must have understood by now why I saved you earlier." I said.
"I know. Cause you want the evidence against Lucifer," he said.
"It's just as I expected. You are bad news," I commented.
"What makes you think that, Miss Dove Stanley?"
"Anyone as smart as Lucifer is bad news. And you look like you are on the same level, if anything I think you might as well surpass him," I said. He laughed.
"I'll hand you that evidence if you succeed in convincing Leviathan, Mammon and Belphegor into helping me and my agency," he said. "Why are you after that evidence though?"
"You said you know everything about all the sins," I said as he nodded. "I am curious about Lucifer's past life. I have always been curious about Lucifer."
"Curiosity killed the cat," he spoke. I chuckled.
"I often get that."
"Catching Lucifer is a tough task. So you better convince Leviathan fast so we can come up with the plan," he said.
"I have a plan. You don't need to know the plan. Just reach the place I'll inform you, on time and arrest the man," I said. He tilted his head and let out evil laughter.
"Lucifer was raising a snake for sure," he said. "I'll do as I'll be told to do. So don't worry about it."
"Why just Belphegor, Leviathan and Mammon though?" I asked. He shrugged.
"Cause they are closest to you— or more like you are too precious to them. They won't hesitate in betraying their leader for you."
"You have dug in too deep... and yet you can't catch Lucifer on your own," I commented.
"Lucifer leaves no traces behind. I just collected this information by questioning people at your juvenile centre. Some are just assumptions of mine which turned out to be true," he said. I nodded.
"I'll contact you after I convince Leviathan to help me."
"I'll take my leave then," I said. He nodded and I walked back inside again. I wasted a lot of time today while I was supposed to search for the Harris brothers.
Snow White can be more dangerous but since he is working under the government, he's bounded by the laws. Lucifer on the other hand is not bounded by any laws, so I'll have to be as cautious as possible about what plan I'm going to make.
I checked multiple rooms but the brothers were nowhere to be soon. Finally, in one room, I found Vinter slumped beside a wall with his knees pressed against his chest . I heard whimpers from him which confused me.
"Vinter?" I asked placing my hand on his shoulder. His blazer was placed on the bed, his once perfectly combed hair is now a mess. He raised his head and I saw tears running down his eyes.
"What happened?" I asked. But he pulled me down and hugged me.
"Twilight knows..." he paused. I sighed as I pushed him away making him look at me.
"What does he know?" I asked.
"He knows about our father's illegal work. He asked me if I know anything about it cause he heard my father talking about how I am also involved in this. I told him not to get involved but he accused me of supporting father's crime," Vinter spoke. "He doesn't trust me anymore... and he said he'll go to the bottom of this."
"You said you'll protect Twilight and he'll never get involved in this! Where were you when he found out about it?!" He accused me.
"And here I thought you changed, Vinter. That you finally won't blame me for everything without knowing the entire truth."
"What?"
"Twilight eavesdropped on your father's conversation. And he is not a baby that I'll have to keep a watch on 24/7. I said I will try my very best to protect him and thanks to that same reason I found out about this way before you did," I spoke. "I planned to protect both of you and I will succeed in doing so."
I grabbed his face harshly and stared into his amethyst eyes.
"Listen, Vinter Harris. Stop being a crybaby and get out there, enjoy the party like you know nothing. Act like your age for once!" I hissed in anger.
"Why do you always act like a bitch around me? Why are you always so gentle around Twilight?" He asked.
"I do no such thing."
"Yes, you do! You don't treat me the way you treat Twilight! Be gentle to me!" Here he goes again, throwing his usual tantrums.
"Shut up."
"Was I that easy to replace?" He asked.
"Jesus! Vinter! You sound like a possessive girlfriend! Stop being so dramatic!" I got up. He stood up as well.
"I love you so much and you replaced me-"
"I loved you too, Vinter! More than anything! What replacement are you bullshitting about?! Didn't you replace me with Nina too?" I let out a dry laugh. He went silent.
"I never replaced you. Some bonds can never be replaced. I am just trying to move on from the toxicity I have with you," I said. I caressed his cheeks. "You think we would work out like this? All we do is fight and argue."
"Please just go out there and pretend this never happened," I pleaded. "Where is Twilight?"
"He went out in anger. I don't know where he went. I was too surprised about what happened." He spoke as if he was ashamed of what just happened.
I sighed and rubbed my face. Here I was trying to protect both of these brothers from all this. But now I feel like they are just getting involved in this more and more. I am so fucking dumb. I cannot even protect those who are precious to me. What's the point of having the wits, when they cannot be used in crucial moments like this?
"I'll go search for him," I said and he nodded.
I started to walk out of the room, but things around me felt like they were spinning. My surrounding was spinning and I tried to hold onto invisible support but nothing was there, making me fall on the floor with a small 'thud'.
"Dove?!" Vinter spoke but I couldn't see him as I felt like I was losing my senses. My vision and hearing were going blank.
"Open your eyes."
That was the last thing I heard before everything went black.
