|SEVENTEEN| Light
Twilight's POV
It's finally the day when I'll take her on a date. Since this is the first time I'm taking someone out on a date, I didn't know what to plan, so I had to enlist the help of Shane and Luis. It should have been Vinter, but, well, it would be awkward to ask for Vinter's help since I'm taking his soulmate on a date.
That sounded so wrong, and I feel like an asshole for doing this to my brother. I mean, having feelings for my brother's soulmate is pathetic, but I also know that it is only I who can treat Dove right.
"Yo!" "Where is your girlfriend?" Luis asked. I shrugged.
"I don't know; she said she would be here soon." "I don't know how long it will take her," I said. And just as I said that, I saw Dove on the other side of the road.
Her eyes fell on me, and she grinned. I waved at her with a smile, and she waved back.
"Does she not have an automobile?" Shane asked. Now that I think about it, I haven't seen her driving a car, despite the fact that I'm sure she's wealthy.
"I don't know..." I mumbled. as I saw her approach us.
She reached us with the same bright smile that she usually carries on her face. She was dressed in ripped denim shorts and an off-the-shoulder cropped black top. When I called her yesterday to inform her about the date, I told her to wear something comfortable. This date might seem cliché to her, but it's the best I could come up with since it's our first date, and I wanted it to be more romantic than unique.
"Hey bunny," she sang. My face turned bright red. I haven't told Luis and Shane that she gave me a nickname.
"H-hi kitten," I mumbled with a bright red face, not being able to meet her eyes.
"Woah! "And are you two bunny's friends?" Dove asked. Shane chuckled.
"Look at them, Luis, they have already given each other nicknames" Shane said. "I am Shane Twilight's unofficial father."
Shane offered his hand, which Dove took very gladly.
"I am Dove, Twilight's soon-to-be girlfriend," Dove said with a smile.
My heart skipped a beat when she said that. I have always been shy around women, but the type of effect Dove has over me is completely different.
"I know." "I mean, who doesn't know the infamous Dove Stanley?" he said. Dove chuckled as she looked at Luis.
"Oh my!" "You are so tall and built!" She grinned and exclaimed. Luis laughed at her statement.
"I used to do kickboxing." Luis said as he extended his hand. "I'm Luis, another father figure in Light's life, and I was the one who found Light first."
He sounded too proud, which made Dove smile and shake her head.
"Light. "That's quite a nickname," Dove commented. "Light, as in Light Yagami from Death Note?"
"Yes! How did you know?" "Do you watch anime too?" Luis asked, getting excited, and Dove defensively raised her hands, laughing.
"No, I just happened to watch Death Note," she said. "I was just curious about Ryuk's character."
"I don't watch anime though," she quickly added, which made Luis's bright smile fall.
"I thought I finally had a fellow anime watcher as a friend," he said, sounding disappointed.
"What am I then?" "I watch those boring shows with you," Shane commented.
"You call them boring shows!" Luis exclaimed in annoyance.
I need to stop them before they start bickering like an old married couple, which they are, but well, I still need to stop them.
"Okay, you two!" "Please return home now that you've met Dove!" Twilight said.
"Light! "That was rude!" Luis whined. Dove raised her eyebrows, and she smirked.
"Don't be embarrassed, Light," she said. "Your unofficial fathers are very interesting, Luis, and even though I don't watch anime, you can still talk about it to me." "I am sure I'll find some interesting ones and start watching them."
Of course, she would find them interesting—both the anime and my father figures. Dove finds everything that entertains her interesting. She is someone who will seek entertainment in everything, no matter what. That's what makes her interesting, too. She's like an open book with a lot of hidden messages and mysteries.
"Say, Dove, why do you want to date our Light?" Shane asked. "I mean, I am not saying that Twilight isn't good-looking or anything, but most girls your age do not prefer dating a guy like him." "I know he looks like a bad boy, but he's very innocent, and that's why he's not most girls' ideal man. So why do you take such great interest in him?"
"Shane!" I stopped him before he weirded Dove out. I know Shane and Luis think I am too naïve and anyone can easily take advantage of me, but Dove is not like that. I don't want them to freak Dove out or make her think that I don't trust her.
"Trust me, Shane," Dove said. "There are not many people who trust me." "I would say even my parents or soulmate don't. But Twilight did. He trusted me without hesitation, and that is how he earned my respect and interest in him."
I stared at her with wide eyes. I didn't know she was deprived of people who trusted her; I thought she didn't care who believed her or not. The more I get to know this woman, the more I realize that she only lets me see what she wants me to see. This is why I arranged this date in a way where we can both get to know each other. Gain each other's complete trust and bond more strongly.
"I like you, kid!" Luis said as he ruffled Dove's hair, which made her laugh. I smiled at how well she was bonding with Luis and Shane. From now on, I will try my best to give her everything that she missed out on growing up: love, trust, faith, or whatever she wants.
"I like you too, Luis," she said. as she looked at me. "Both you and Shane are very warm people." "I would like to be friends with you."
"Dove, you are our little girl." "We are already family," Shane said. That was surprising, because Shane doesn't usually let people into his life that easily.
"Thank you," Dove said, and she looked at me.
"Should we get going, bunny?"
"Yeah, we should," I said with a nod and a smile.
"Thank you for lending me your truck, Shane." I thanked Shane.
"Yeah, don't worry about it." "Just have fun, you two," Shane said.
"Forget all your worries for a day and enjoy this date, okay?" Luis stated.
"We will," Dove said. "I know whatever Twilight arranges for the day will be very fun."
I smiled proudly, which made the other two men chuckle.
"Okay, you two lovebirds! Go on!" Luis gestured for us to leave. I offered Dove my hand, which she took gladly as I led her towards Shane's truck. There were two bicycles, a camping mat, a few bottles of water, and a container full of food placed on the trunk of the truck.
Dove waved Luis and Shane goodbye and got inside the truck. Luis gave me a thumbs up, and Shane mouthed "take care of her," to which I nodded as a reply and got inside the driver's side as well.
"Alright! " "We are set to go!" As I started the engine, I said.
"Where are we going?" Dove asked.
"That's a surprise," I said. Dove hummed in reply as she turned on the music.
"Do you mind if I play some of my written songs?" She asked. I shook my head.
"Of course not, kitten! I have heard them! I love them!" I replied.
"Thank you," she replied in satisfaction.
"I never really told you this, but I have been a fan of your work." "Your songs are relatable, like how it used to be with Vinter's," I stated.
"There can only be one genius," she mumbled.
"What does that mean?" I asked.
"Nothing; forget it. Can you tell me this instead, bunny?" She asked. "What are those bikes in the trunk for?"
"Ah! "We are going to ride them once we reach our destination," I replied.
"You really won't tell me where we are going?" She asked. I looked at her as she gave me puppy eyes. I call her "kitten," and she is capable of giving puppy eyes. What a walking contradiction this woman is.
"You will have to wait and watch, kitten." "Don't pry into it too much and enjoy the surprise," I replied. She huffed in return.
I am going to make sure she lives out her childhood now. I know she's one of those unfortunates who never had a good chance of living her childhood, after all the bullying. So I want her to enjoy her childhood as much as possible right now.
She had no one who trusted her; then I will be the one who trusts her.
If she had no one who believed her, then I would be the one who believed her.
If she had no one who had faith in her, then I would put my entire faith in her.
I will make sure to cherish her more than anyone did—more than her soulmate, more than her parents, even more than she cherishes her passion for writing and music.

I read this quote while watching Classroom of the elite;
"Hell is other people."
I couldn't relate to any quote more than this one.
