"EXPECTO PATRONUM!" Amelia shouted. Something silver blasted from the tip of her wand, the force of which sent Amelia flying backward into the wall. Harry ran over to her, dropping to his knees.

"Amelia, are you ok?" Amelia lifted her head but did not answer. She was staring at the other end of the room, her eyes wide and her mouth open. Harry's neck creaked; he turned so fast to see at the end of the room floating in the air was a silver wolf.

It had sharp ears and keen eyes, swirled markings along its chest, and a bushy tail. It charged at the dementor, driving it back into the chest, which Lupin, looking wide-eyed, shut. Harry could feel the strength coming back to him as he helped Amelia to her feet, the atmosphere of the room was calming. The wolf trotted around the room before it sat in the air, tail tucked at its side. Tilting its head up and letting out a low mysterious howl as it faded away.

Amelia chuckled weakly. "Yeah, I'm good. You?"

"Yeah."

"Never in all my years," said Lupin, looking stunned, "Have I seen any which or wizard complete the Patronus charm on their first try. Only very powerful witches and wizards are capable of such feet."

"Luck of the draw, "said Amelia. "What I lack in size, I make up for in magical skill. I'm not special or powerful, just a rare case," he said handing Amelia her box of chocolates which she took with a thank you.

Harry took a bite of his chocolate and watched Lupin extinguishing the lamps that had rekindled with the disappearance of the dementor. A thought had just occurred to him. 

"Professor Lupin?" he said. "If you knew my dad, you must've known Sirius Black as well." 

Lupin turned very quickly. 

"What gives you that idea?" he said sharply.

Amelia felt a lurch in her stomach. Being a shapeshifter she could sense lies. She called it her bullshit detector(much to Herminoe's annoyance). 

"Nothing -- I mean, I just knew they were friends at Hogwarts too...." 

Lupin's face relaxed.
