We are a family of six, abba the boss of the house, Umma the first Lady. I am the first among four girls, i'm 20 years of age, i'm neither too tall nor short, Aisha is my immediate she's 19 and such a drama queen, hyfer is 17 and the quiet type. husna is 13 and the youngest.

I set the dining table and ensured its cleanliness before bringing out the food. "Aisha! Yes sis, come along with the rest siblings for launch. Yes my love she replied as i laugh at what she said.

We all sat at the dining to have our launch, immediately after the launch, we all proceeded to the lounge to watch a movie. hyfer noticed some changes in Aisha's movement which made her asked.

"Yaya aisha what happened to your foot?

Nothing she replied almost immediately, that made husna giggled to the short reply given to her.

I wasn't happy with her response so i interfered. "Aisha why that reply? Is she the course of your trauma? She was only trying to show some concern but it seems you aren't interested. Anyway, when Umma comes home just know what to tell her and keep me out of it because, I know nothing. I sigh! Faking my anger

She noticed the sad look on our faces, to which she tried adjusting it with an apology.

"I am sorry hyfer. she uttered!

Apology accepted said hyfer with a blush as we all hugged each other and continued watching the movie. I dig my hand to the bowl of popcorn when i dug a glass, husna chuckled and stuck her tongue out which made me run after her.

Here you are, I've got you so hand me the bowl or i rip off your tongue!

"I'm sorry yaya Ameera she whispered softly handing me the bowl.

Keep it little doll, I am just kidding so eat to your full ohk?

Uhmmm she smiled.

It was time for asr prayer so we all went to pray, hyfer and husna got dressed for islamiyya and left as I and aisha were still home since we have done our Qur'anic graduation.

"Aisha we should go prepare dinner before umma comes home and again abba is coming back to nigeria today.

Oh yes, so what are we gonna prepare? She asked

Well, mushrooms, pepper meat, peanuts and potatoes will all be good as savory food, while cuscus in beef stew is gonna serve as the main course{dish} I suggested.

Yes ma'am.

An unwanted spun just came when i heard her call me ma'am, I smirk said "Never use that M word on me because I'm only20. she smiled and replied with a yes M.....!

Again? I voiced glaring at her immensely.

No sis. I didn't complete the word.

Better! I hurl making us to laugh it out.

WA'alaykumus salaam! Umma welcome, Aisha said as she went to hug her, shatuna" that's the name she calls her with" what happened to your foot? Why are you limping?

Em...m..m.. Umma it's just a minor accident, i hit my feet on a stone at school. But I'm fine cos my lovely sis applied some ointment to it, and Alhamdullillah am better now.

Where is your older sis?

She went to the kitchen to start up some mise en place, Yaya!!! Yaya! Aisha called

Allah ya shiryaki aisha, you will never stop hollering. Yes what is it i questioned from the kitchen

Umma is back. I quickly went to the lounge to welcome her.

Welcome back umma and how is aunt humaira and the newlyweds?

Fine she said curtly

hmmm I'm use to her short replies i uttered under my breathe, so i went back to the kitchen to ride on from were I stopped.

Shatuna? Yes Umma, won't you assist your sis in the kitchen?

I will Umma.

I was wiping the tears rolling down ma cheek when aisha budged into the kitchen.

What's wrong sis?

Nothing

C'mon Speak up she says worried.

It's nothing seriously! Em... The onion i chopped was really hot i said pretending to be fine

hush! Sis don't lie to me, I know exactly what's wrong with you but I will like you to always be positive, my instinct tells me Umma loves you the most she's only acting for some reason only Allah knows, right on cue umma came into the kitchen.

What are you preparing for dinner ameeran Abba{ it reminds me of the name Abba calls me with} em.. Umma cuscus in beef stew and some other things.

Interesting! Toh agama lafiya(be safe) she cooed stepping outta the kitchen looking troubled cos of the conversion she heard.

She heaved a deep breath and whispered ya Allah, you're the knower of all hearts, you know what's in my heart and not in anyway have i ever detest my daughter *Ameera* I'm only doing this to make her strong and independent, she isn't like Aisha who is bold. Please Allah guide and protect her.

It took us about an hour before we could finish the dish and set it on the dining table, i went back to the kitchen to tidy it up before going to my room to freshen up.

It's about time ibro go and pick husna and hyfer but he hasn't! What's wrong with him? Has he forgotten or something?

Shatuna! she hollered her name as she chew some dates.

Na'am, she responded

Go tell ibro it's about time he pick up my daughters from school! He shouldn't keep them waiting, what's wrong with him.

He's gone already!

Better, May Allah bring them home safely and yeah tell your sister that your father is on his way.

On going to my room, I heard what was supposed to be told to me, I became excited knowing Abba was on his way home, am looking forward to seeing him and praying for his safe arrival. I went to freshen up, prayed my magrib seek Allah's forgiveness, guidance and protection, also prayed for my mum to love me. I concluded my prayers before wearing a mauve coloured gown { not really a fan of makeup so didn't}. Aisha came in to deliver her message.

Umma! Umma! We are back! And you know what, same time with abba! Amazing right? She screamed

For God sake when are you gonna grow husna! You're a lady so screaming and shouting isn't for you, now you and hyfer should quickly go change and don't forget to shower and wash away that sweat. C'mon go she dismissed with her index finger.

Ameen waalaykumus salam abban en mata, you are welcome, umma said with a glossy smile on her face.

thanks dearie were are the kids? He asked hastily

Hyfer and husna ran in excitement to hug and welcome him.

Welcome sir, they said in unison

yauwa girls! He uttered in his hoarse voice while patting them on the back.

hyfer! Don't you know you're a grown up girl? You never cease to run, why? She questioned and continued You better stop it. hyfer smiled and nodded turning her face away from the look of Umma.

Abba sannu da zuwa(welcome back) , came Aisha voiced

yauwa aisha how are you all doing?

Fine sir

Where is my girl ameera? Why is she always secluded? He asked almost immediately

Abba welcome, I said with a smile and a hug

We both were really full of happiness seeing each other knowing the closeness between us.

Umma accompanied him to his room, he freshened up and wore a jallamiya, before they both came to join us at the dining room, I dish out the food for every one, while eating abba was asking of our wellbeing.

Abba you haven't shared us our gifts she pouted.

Husna, could you please allow me eat in peace? if it was you who cooked the food I would have call it a trade by barter perhaps, but i know only my ameera could cook this delicious meal not even your mum.

I was really pleased by his compliment as smile cover my face.

You obviously wanna make someone's head explode, aysha said.

I am gonna give you girls your tsaraba(gifts) immediately after our dinner. Are you happy now?

Yeahhh I'm happy abba as she stood to dance a little.

Is it only your girls you bought the gifts for? How about their mum.

You're too old for a gift he teased which made us all laughed, what a happy home I said in my mind.
