Chapter 36.
Zayn has a brother?
When did this happen?
So he trust me with his family's past. He tells me all about his Mom, Dad, and even Aunt! How could he not tell me about this brother of his? You can't really forget about something like that? Does he have anymore?
I mean, it was no secret I doubted they looked a lot alike from the second I saw him walk in. But why now? Why hasn't Zayn told me about him? What's the big mystery? I'm tired of it!
"Avan?" Tess talked again, breaking me back out of my thoughts.
Tess looked just as confused as I used to be. By the look on both of her son's faces, I can tell they don't like each other. Obviously, she didn't see it... As a mother I'm sure she thinks they love each other.
"Avan!" She called again, this time louder.
"What is he doing here?" Avan finally spoke, annoyance in his words, eyes disgusted to look at Zayn.
"He came to visit us." She furrowed her eyebrows. "Aren't you happy? You were just a little kid when he..."
Tess stopped in her words, recalling that Zayn ran away. You can tell the look on her face was really sad.
"I'll be waiting in the car." He almost growled, looking at Tess and only Tess, speeding past her.
Tess stopped him before he left, she wasn't happy.
"Stop that!" She exclaimed, "Say hello."
Avan looked at me and Zayn. Zayn still didn't look at his brother so it didn't really give him much of a choice to look at me instead.
"Let me guess? You're the blind one that's going out with him?" He pinned his eyes at me, hate filling his every word.
I was speechless. Not only was he rude, but disrespectful too. How dare he just say that when neither Zayn or I have done nothing wrong to him?
My mouth opened to say something but Zayn cut in, his body hovering over mine in a protective way.
"What did you just say?" Zayn growled.
Their noses almost made contact. No emotion was shown in Avan's face. My hand gripped the back of Zayn's hoodie, singling him that this wasn't a good idea.
"Okay, okay." Tess broke in, pulling Zayn and Avan away from each other. "What is this?"
Avan looked at all of us before looking around the space, all eyes were on us.
He ran a hand through his hair, licking his bottom lip before taking a step back towards the exit.
"Wait! Avan! Where are you going?" Zayn's Mom called out.
"Home." He answered, "My home!"
"Avan." Tess walked up to him but he stepped back.
"No!" He exclaimed raising his hands in the air. "Just..."
Zayn's brother chose not to finish his sentence, taking a step outside, leaving the rest of the diner speechless.
Zayn turned around quickly to look at his Mom. Not even half an hour has passed and Zayn's already in a bad mood.
"Who does he think he is?!" Zayn exclaimed in anger, pointing at the door.
"Zayn." Tess closed her eyes, trying to keep calm.
"I didn't like the way he spoke to either of you!" Zayn glanced at me then back at his Mom. "I'm going to have a little talk with him."
"Honey, it's no use." She answered, "He's been like this for a while now."
"What are you talking about?" Zayn furrowed his eyebrows. "The kid was probably the nicest person I knew?"
Tess darted her vision over to me, carefully smiling before answering.
"Look Zayn, I really don't want to talk about this. At least not now. I'm just happy you're here and I don't want this to ruin it. Can we just go home?" She asked.
Zayn nodded. He wanted to keep on going, I know so, but his Mom's happiness was more important than anything right now. I'm glad he thought that way.
Tess smiled, bringing him back into an embrace as she rubbed his back.
Their hug lasted a quick second. Tess immediately pulled away to look back at me.
"I'm sorry for what Avan told you. I'm sure he didn't mean it." She spoke apologetic.
She didn't really have to apologize. None of this was her fault. "Don't worry about it." I smiled back.
Zayn took a step back to stand next to me.
Tess smiled, "Well, we should get going. Let me just... Clean up this mess and I'll be right out there with you." She referred to the tray she dropped when she saw Zayn.
"Would you like me to help you?" He asked.
"No, that's okay." Tess smiled.
Zayn nodded, lacing his fingers with mine.
"Do you have a ride?" I asked, recalling that her other son has left with maybe the only ride she had left.
"I'll take the bus, don't worry." She assured us.
"No, Mum, we'll take you." Zayn stepped forward, holding her arm with his free hand.
Tess glanced from Zayn to me. Slightly nodding her head, she smiled, "Alright."
"We'll be waiting for you outside." Zayn looked at his Mom.
Once she nodded, he turned around with me in his grip. We started walking towards the door. Everyone was completely shocked. This was a new side of Zayn they've never seen before.

"You have a brother!" I exclaimed as Zayn and I entered his car.
Zayn looked down, gripping his hand on the steering wheel. "I was going to tell you but--"
"There's nothing wrong with you not telling me. I just wished you had so I wouldn't look so stupid in front of your Mom." I rubbed the temples of the top of my nose, feeling the embarrassment rush through me.
Zayn shifted in his seat, reaching a hand out to move some hair away from my face and place it behind my ear.
"Hey don't say that." He argued, moving my chin to look back up at him.
I sat looking up into his eyes. Even in the dark they sparkled.
I was about to say something, not that I could remember anymore before he crashed his lips into mine, slowly moving against them.
He backed away shortly, our noses almost touching. My eyes fluttered open, his thumb gently passed over my cheek.
"You didn't look stupid." He smiled.
Zayn turned back to a serious look on his face, "I'm sorry I didn't tell you before. It's just that..." He backed away, resting his head on the headrest.
"What happened?" I asked.
He sighed as his large hands rubbed his face. "He was always the nice one. The one no one hated or was scared of. I couldn't risk having that change. He was the one that was going to bring the family out of the situation we were in. But he didn't want that. He wanted to be like me. The kid didn't know what he'll get himself into. So one night I told him to back off. I guess I was a little bit too mean because he hated me ever since and trust me that wasn't much help along with the other shit that was going on in my life."
I watched as he finished speaking, his head turning back to look at me.
"We never really got along." Zayn added.
I couldn't imagine what he's probably going through. I love my sister and couldn't possibly live without her. She's taught me a lot and we understand each other, especially when dealing with our parents hardly being home. I just can't see myself not getting along with Kennedy. She's my best friend. It hurts me that Zayn can't see that about his brother.
"Harry warned me about him before we left. It was the only reason why I was nervous to walk in and have us fight in front of my Mum."
Well that explains what they were arguing about before we left.
"Does she know about you two?" I asked. "Your Mom?"
"No. And I think it's better if we leave it that way." He nodded.
"I'm sorry to hear that." I bit my lower lip.
Zayn turned back to me, a smile reappeared in his lips as he pulled me closer once again. His hand could literally cup my entire face.
"Stop being sorry." He chuckled.
I smiled as he kissed my lips one more time. This time it became really heated. I couldn't see myself stopping. It was almost as if I wanted to kiss his pain away, the hurt he felt by the way his brother spoke to him for the first time, the way he was immediately hated when we entered the diner, how that lady jumped to conclusions with him. It was all too much for him to take in. Zayn was stronger than I ever thought he was. It just sucks this is the way he has to live.
Our lips moved in a passionate kiss, Zayn's hand beginning to move down my side. The car became hotter, my hands gripped the hem of my sweater and moved away to swivel the fabric over my head. The amusement in Zayn's eyes were clear, knowing where I was going with this.
In seconds, the sweater was thrown to the car's ground. I was now in just the v neck I was in. Instead of taking a seat, I crossed a leg over to Zayn's side, careful with hitting my head on the roof.
He smiled at my actions, quietly laughing as I crossed my other leg to his side. Zayn's hand fiddled around the side of his seat, soon clicking a button to slide his seat back just enough for me to sit.
I giggled, slightly gasping as he quickly moved us, gently I took a seat on his lap.
"What are you doing." He chuckled, hands running up and down my thighs on each side of him.
I couldn't believe I was actually doing this but I wasn't regretting any second of it.
"Just shut up and kiss me." I giggled, fisting my hands on the fabric of his jacket and pulling him closer so our lips could meet.
Zayn didn't object, rapidly moving his lips against mine in a passionate kiss.
My body heated up, heart starting to beat faster with every move either of us made.
My hand raised to grip the back of his hair, gently pushing us closer as I felt his cold hands run through the inside of my shirt.
His touch sent chills down my body, I just hoped I did the same to him. I've never done such a thing before. But it's worth a try, after all, it's not like we haven't done worse before. It was my turn to make him feel good.
One of my hands released a part of Zayn's hair to slide down to the zipper of his jacket. Quickly, it was slid down. Or lips never left contact, I didn't want to. My hands went down beneath his shirt, gently tracing his abs and up his chest. Fingernails digging into his skin, desperate for more contact.
Zayn drew his hands down to my lower backside, resting over my bum. This was completely something I didn't expect.
Our lips remained moving against each other's. It was a feeling I wanted to savor for a long time. I became aware that my breathing also heightened, not getting much air down my body didn't help.
"Mmm...Paige" Zayn spoke between kisses, trying to back away.
"What?" I didn't stop kissing him, I couldn't find the efforts to do so. What is going on!
"Paige, seriously." He backed away.
I was confused at his sudden alertness.
"My Mum's coming." He chuckled.
My eyes widened as I turned around and saw Tess stepping out of the diner.
I instantly reacted and started shuffling myself off Zayn and back to my seat. Zayn laughed as I worked fast to get myself together. He even took the chance to zip back up his jacket as I plopped back in my sweater.
"I'm sorry." I spoke gasping for air.
I looked at him as he burst out laughing.
"That was amazing!" He looked back at me with excitement in his eyes, "I never saw this side of you."
"Trust me, neither did I." I mentally said as a response to him.
"I like it." He leaned in to me, pecking a kiss to my lips before moving to my ear, "Don't worry, we'll be doing this again."
My breathing became normal again as he pecked another kiss to my cheek. All that was left now we're the thoughts of what he said before they were interrupted once again by the backseat door opening.
"Sorry for taking too long, my boss wanted to know what all the ruckus was about." She apologized as she closed the door.
"Don't worry." Zayn smiled while turning on the car, glancing at me with a small smirk.
My silence was too obvious, I wasn't surprised when someone noticed it.
"Paige, are you okay, love?" Tess asked.
"Yeah, yeah." I nodded smiling back at her then back at Zayn as I sat forward once again. "I'm fine."
