Chapter 10.
My stomach felt fully bloated from all the pizza Zayn made me eat in the past hour and a half. No matter how many times I told him I wasn't hungry anymore, he said I was lying and I needed to finish it. At least the pizza was good.
We finished our drinks and left the tray in the center of the table empty. Just as Zayn took out his wallet to pay, Louis came by for his last trip of the night to clear out our plates and utensils. Zayn was the first one to stand up from his chair, not bothering to push it back in.
"Wait here." He spoke looking at me straight in the eyes.
My teeth got hold of my bottom lip as I gently nodded my head in agreement. Once he passed by me, I stood up and pushed my chair in, quickly making my way over to push in Zayn's.
"Oh, that's okay." Louis smiled as he pushed it in before I could.
"Thank you." I smiled as I watched him clean up.
Being the OCD person I am, I decided to help him put the plates away in the tray.
"That's okay, Paige, you don't have to that." He said trying to stop me from picking up my glass cup.
"I want to." I smiled looking up at him and continuing to clear the surface.
I heard Louis softly chuckle as he looked down at the table,"You know, you're definitely the last person I'd ever think of that Zayn would go after."
My attention was suddenly drawn back to Louis with a confused look on my face. Louis looked up and laughed at the sight of my expression.
"What do you mean?"
"I mean..." He continued, "He's never brought a girl to dinner, at least not that I know of. Zayn mostly goes for girls who are pure cold hearted. You, well you're sweet. And you're also really se...um...pretty." He joked.
I playfully rolled my eyes and laughed along with his joke while putting away the plates on the black tray. "Umm..Thanks?"
"No problem." He chuckled.
Feeling the quietness grow longer between us,I began to build up enough courage to ask Louis something I noticed from the beginning of the night.
"Um...Louis?"I continued.
"Yeah?"
"Why do let Zayn tell you all those mean stuff?"I asked.
Louis only laughed at my question, he seems to be a very laughable guy.
"It's not like means it. I know Zayn and that's just how he's been acting for as long as I could remember. Trust me, he's a really good guy and he's not the bad guy everyone says he is." He replied.
I realized that what Louis was saying was true once the flashback of Zayn beating up Ezra for trying to hurt me floated back to the front of my brain.
"So then why does he always act like such a...Jerk?" I asked once again.
"I don't know, Zayn's just a confusing and mysterious guy. That's why I was confused when I saw you walk in with him. Actually, I'd be confused if I saw him bring any girl to dinner." He replied.
"Really?"
Louis nodded, "I can tell you're going to be something special to him."
I didn't know what to say next. What could I say anyways? I don't think I'm anywhere close to meaning anything to anyone in that way. Especially if that someone is Zayn.
Louis and I finished clearing the table without speaking another word until we heard the sound of the front door open and Zayn walk through it. He immediately walked up to us with a confused expression on his face.
"Paige, what are you doing?"
"I was just helping Louis."I responded looking back at Louis with a small smile.
"Yeah and we even got a chance to know each other a little."Louis smiled back.
"That's lovely, but we have to go now." Zayn spoke with his voice full of sarcasm and anger. His eyes aimed into mine as he flicked his head towards the door, "Lets go, Paige."
I looked up at Louis, almost embarrassed that Zayn had to act like that. "Thank you, Louis."
"No,thank you."He spoke in a corny matter.
I continued to make my way towards Zayn who already had his back turned towards us add he continued to walk back out towards the door when I heard Louis call my name. My body swiftly turned around in time for me to spot him mouthing out the words, "Remember what I told you."
My head slightly shook in agreement before turning back around so I don't crash into something or someone. I was just inches away from crashing into Zayn's back as he paused to swing the door open. I was surprised at his gentlemen ways as he held the door open for me and waited for me to pass through.
When I was out, Zayn followed behind but then moved his way in front of me so that he can reach his motorcycle. I watched as he climbed on and started the engine. He passed me the helmet I wore last time and I climbed behind him on the motorcycle like her instructed me to.

My grip around Zayn's waist loosened as I saw him reach my house. It was really dark now with the exception some dim lighting provided by a few lampposts along the street.
I never felt as happy as I am to be home in my entire life than how I am right now. It's been a long night and all I want is to be in bed. The term Thank God it's Friday seemed to have more meaning for me right now then it ever did before.
Zayn slowly stopped the motorcycle to the road adjacent from my house, a long sigh fell from my lips in great joy but not making it too obvious.
Without saying a word, I stood up from his bike and continued to slip off the helmet. A small gasp was released as I noticed Zayn had also stood up and was really close to me. I took a step back and slowly held the helmet out to him.
I wanted to tell him how grateful I was for everything he's done tonight, for coming to my rescue when I thought no one else was. But how could I if I can't tell what his reaction towards it would be like. So I remained silent, at least for now, of course.
He set the helmet down on his bike before accompanying me across the road and up my house's front lawn.
We were barley close to the front door when I took a sudden stop, causing Zayn to turn around and look at me confused. Now was my time.
"I..." My mouth found it difficult to form the words that repeated over and over. Zayn waited for me to speak again, tilting his head slightly to the side as he stared at me.
"Thank you." I spoke quietly.
He knew exactly what I ment, the look on his face made it clear he did. My head fell down, my shoes becoming very interesting. My breath hitched in ny throat as I felt him move closer. His head slowly nudged down towards my ear before I heard his deep voice whisper, "I'd do it again."
I looked up as Zayn started to move back. I couldn't help but let a small smile curve into my lips.
Zayn caught hold of his bottom lip, his hands tucking into his pant's front pockets. "Come on, lets get you inside."
I passed by Zayn and continued to make my way up the stairs to the front door. My hand dug into my bag to pull out my keys and soon enough, open the door. Before I even bothered to step in, I glanced up at Zayn again. I was completely speechless.
"Um...Do you..." My words were quickly drawn back into my mouth as I felt Zayn's lips gently crash into mine.
I didn't have much force to push him off but then again, I don't think I wanted to push him off.
The kiss was gentle and I found it pleasing. No. I can't like him, this is wrong.
"I should..." I paused to shove him away, maybe a little bit too hard. "Um..." I felt ashamed that I was parsley rude but I guess my mind had a mind of its own.
"That's okay." He cut me off along with a small smile.
I gave him a small nod before opening the door wider and taking a step in. My head turned around to look at Zayn who was already walking down towards the stairs.
"Goodnight."
He turned around and quickly winked at me, "Goodnight, Paige."
I watched as he jogged back to bike and quickly drove away. Once I was safe inside my house, I dropped my bag and rushed upstairs to my bedroom. This is a night I'll never forget. And it's not in a good way.
