Anxiety

Anxiety,
Hello, my friend,
It's been so long,
And so it ends,
But I must say
That you weren't missed,
Although I knew
It'd come to this:
Just me and you
Alone tonight,
Alone today,
In broad daylight
With fears we've shared
Throughout this time
We've been apart
And still aligned
Within our minds,
The mind we share,
The mind you wrecked,
If you so care
To recognize
Just what you've done,
Just what you've left;
I've come undone.
I didn't know;
I couldn't see;
You left me blind;
You blinded me
To brokenness
I'd come to know
Some place inside
That wouldn't show
Its light to me,
Its colors bold,
A story you
Had never told,
Because you knew
I'd see the truth
If you let it,
Let it slip through
Your cold fingers
And into mine,
Where I could trace
Down every line
And every curve
Of destiny,
The future I
Would one day see,
Undoubtedly;
There was no choice.
Anxiety
Had raised its voice
And captured mine,
Locked it away,
To keep me from
Those words I'd say
To crush its soul,
Stamp out its spark,
Leave it alone
Out in the dark
And far from me.
Yes, if I'd known,
But how could I?
I wasn't shown
That image that
Just might imply
How far I'd fall,
How hard I'd try
To make it work,
To make it fly,
Despite the fear
That wouldn't die
Behind my eyes
Or in my soul.
Anxiety;
It was my soul;
It was the beat
Within my chest;
It put my pow-
Ers to the test.
Yes, every day,
And every night;
I never got
One answer right.
And so I ran;
I ran from you.
You're like a night-
Mare coming true,
And I escaped;
I slammed the door,
But here you are.
Hello one more.
Nowhere's too far
For you to reach
A rotten heart,
A poisoned dream
With creeping fears,
Anxiety,
You play that card,
You clip the wings,
You let birds fall;
You are the ground,
The dirt, the mud,
The nature sounds
Without the love
And without grace,
Only anger
To replace
The hopes hidden
Within each heart,
No matter how
It's torn apart
In broken past
Of rotten fruit
Where dreams were beat,
Where fear got through
And ate its way
Along the path
To destiny,
Just leaving wrath
In its dark wake,
The shadows too,
Anger with which
There's nothing to do
But scream it out
And run away
To somewhere I
Could never place
And wouldn't try,
'Cause I don't care;
I want an out
To anywhere.
What's the difference?
What's the catch?
What is the hope?
To which I can latch
When fear comes on;
It's all I see,
Reflections of
Anxiety.

Anxiety: the greatest threat to ambition, the greatest roadblock in the way. It is, isn't it? If you know, you know... and I do. I know many of you do too. Pursuing goals and dreams is scary; it is. The future, the outcome, is a massive unknown, a considerable one, and it can be terrifying, not knowing what's in store, what good or bad or pain or joy you'll bring if you try, take the leap of faith, step out. Anxiety's a monster in the mind. It wrecks us. And, sometimes, that's just how it goes. We can't always stop it. Don't give up though, ok? I won't if you won't. And, together, maybe we'll find a way to surmount the obstacle that stands in our way, in the way of our ambitions, in the way of our dreams, in the way of life as it is meant to be lived. I believe. I hope you do too <3
