Chapter 9: A deal with the Devil

Levy sat at the bar of the club, waiting for Juvia. She's rather surprised that Juvia's so quick to get the information she needs.

"Sorry to keep you waiting Detective." The bluenette entered the club with a muscular man by her side. The piercings around his body and the spiky long jet black hair are unmistakable. The man beside her is non-other than Gajeel Redfox.

"You know Gajeel right?" Juvia gestured over to the man who gave Levy a snicker.

"Yeah." Levy slightly nodded.

"Anyway, I know the guy who killed Fabrico," Juvia said as she poured her guest a glass of whiskey. "His name is Alexander Holland. I also presume that you need evidence in order to arrest him. I personally don't have any tight connections to Alexander and neither does the boss. He's a regular at the club and that's all there is to it, but Gajeel is pretty close with him and he agreed to help you on your case."

Gajeel looked towards the petite bluenette and smiled. "And you know, I have a perfect plan in mind."

"Someone's prepared." Juvia chuckled. "Anyway, here's a cctv footage of Ali entering an Italian Restaurant with his fiance the night that Fabrico is killed. I believe that's enough evidence to clear him from any suspicions." Juvia gave Levy a blue usb.

Levy took it and thanked Juvia.

"Alex is a regular here and he always brings a girl over to his place." Gajeel started. "Maybe shrimp here can go undercover as a dancer."

"That's actually not a bad idea. What do you think Detective?" Juvia looked over to Levy for assurance. However, Levy didn't respond and her cheeks grew 10 shades redder.

"I'll take that as a yes!!" Gajeel laughed.

------

Levy has never been this embarrassed and humiliated in her entire life. To think that Lucy does this for a living is beyond her.

"I have no idea how you do this Lu." Levy said to the blonde as she was wearing a black mesh long-sleeve shirt underneath a ginger-colored bustier and a ginger-colored undergarment covered by a sheer wrap cover-up skirt.

"By the way, how do you and Sir Redfox know each other?" Lucy asked.

Levy sighed. It's bound to happen. "It's a long story, I'll tell to you later."

"Hey, Shrimp!! Are you done, changing yet!!"

"Ughh.." Levy groaned and walked onto the stage.

Gajeel chuckled as his eyes roamed around the petite detective. "I could get used to this."

"Shut up." Levy glared at the mafia boss.

"Anyway, Alina will be teaching you everything you should know, your undercover name will be Leah." Juvia said, opening a bottle of Champagne and pouring a glass for Gajeel. "I'll be leaving you with them. I'll be back."

"Where are you going??" Levy exclaimed.

"Work." Juvia smiled and left the group.

Alina worked at Amber Sin ever since it got reopened, she's the one responsible for the training of the girls in the nightclub.

She taught Levy some moves and how to deal with men up close. Levy took her notes and her techniques and practiced them a few times with her guidance.

After practicing, she dragged Levy over to Gajeel's table.

"Sir Gajeel, We need someone Levy to practice flirting on, and you're our only option at the moment." Alina politely asked Gajeel for assistance.

"What?! Practice with him?!" Levy exclaimed, flabbergasted.

"Of course! You have to practice with an actual person to apply what you've learned!" Alina smiled.

"The lady right, try your moves on me Shrimp." Gajeel chuckled.

Thoughts spiraled through Levy's brain. She can't believe she's about to practice flirting with Gajeel, of all people.

"Detective, What are you waiting for? Let's get started." Gajeel smirked mischievously.

Levy's cheeks flushed a dark red color. She cleared her throat in an attempt to calm herself down. She took a deep breath and walked towards the sofa and sat next to Gajeel.

Following what Alina taught her, Levy kept a small distance from Gajeel. She tilted her legs towards him and rested them very lightly on his.

"Not a bad start," Alina commented. "Now, try having a conversation with him."

"So, What's your name, dollface?" Gajeel leaned in, and he's clearly enjoying this.

"Oh, mister, you can call me Leah, I'm rather new here," Levy responded in a flirty manner. She smiled demurely while staring into Gajeel's eyes. She moved a little closer to him, catching a faint whiff of musky tobacco mixed with a bit of marijuana. "I've never seen a man like you before..."

"Oh? Why do you say so? What makes me so different from the others?"

"So, handsome, and so gentlemanly. I'm sure you have plenty of admirers." At this point, Levy has fallen deep into character. She grabbed ahold of Gajeel's arm and leaned more into him, her chin resting on his shoulder.

Levy's hand isn't holding him tightly, and yet she can feel the hard and defined muscles on his biceps.

"Actually, I admire you a lot... What do you think of me, mister." Gajeel turned to her slowly. They're so close now, she can feel him breathing.

"I've seen many women like you." Gajeel took a sip from his champagne. He placed the glass back on the table and looked at Levy's hazel-brown eyes.

Levy took the glass and placed it over her lips, leaving a lipstick stain where his lips had touched the cup, and took a sip. She raised her chin, elegantly, showing off her slender neck. She proceeded to lick the rim of the cup and bat her eyelashes at Gajeel, who was slowly growing a red blush on his face before setting the glass down.

"If you knew me, you'd know that I'm different from other girls." Levy spoke softly. "I'd give you my heart to you. Aren't you going to give me a chance?"

Gajeel looked at her, sternly, leaving a permanent image of this moment in his head.

"If you won't, just pretend I never existed. I'm just a lonely showgirl." Levy printed to look sad and got up from her seat to leave. She took a step forward and pretended to trip over something, falling over.

Gajeel pulled her in, instinctively, and they both collapsed on the sofa. They could feel each other breathing heavily. It's incredibly intimate and surreal. Levy's heart is racing wildly and feels as though it's about to leap out of her chest. They gazed into each other's eyes, and neither of them dared to look away. If only this moment could last a little longer.

Three years ago

Levy Mcgarden walked inside Amber Sin. This move is considered suicide, especially for a detective. Her precinct is investigating the dealings that are happening in Amber Sin. Her superior officer instructed her to investigate inside as a civilian. This is her first year as a detective. Her face and name aren't known to many, so there isn't too much of a risk. If she gets caught she'll simply tell them that she's corrupt.

For the first couple of minutes, she observed plenty of crime-related activities. Her cover was safe and secure, but then a fight broke out. The attendees of the nightclub cheered on the fight and started betting on who would win. The fight got a little too intense when one of the men grabbed her by the hand and pointed a pistol at her head.

"Stay back or I'll shoot!!" The man shouted. Loud gunfire echoed through the nightclub. Levy was prepared for death at that moment, but then she realized that the man that was holding her was the one who was shot, not her.

The man's body slumped down to the ground and Levy looked behind her and came face to face with none other than Juvia Lockser, the owner of Amber Sin.

The blue-haired woman walked closer to them and pointed her gun at the man who attempted to shoot Levy.

"Alina!!" Juvia called for a woman. "Dispose of him if you please," Juvia ordered the woman as she placed her hand on Levy's shoulder. A chill ran through her spine.

"Are you alright, my dear?" Juvia asked her, sincerity and worry laced in her voice.

"I'm alright, thank you." Levy nodded.

"I'm sorry for all of that, I'll treat you to a drink, on the house." She smiled and guided Levy to the bar. The latter was scared of the woman, so she didn't complain.

"Say, what are you doing here? Detective Levy Macgarden?" Juvia asked the petite blunette.

"How did you?" Levy breathed out.

"I'm not an amature detective." Juvia laughed.

"Are you gonna kill me? I've heard tales of what happened to police officers who step foot in your establishment." Levy barely got the strength and energy to ask her the question.

"Maybe." Juvia swirled her drink. "Your case involves a good friend of mine, Gajeel Redfox."

She's right, there are three names that are connected to the dealings, and one of them is Gajeel Redfox.

"You're a detective and you put our kind behind bars. There are some instances where it helps me and my work and at times it's a huge hindrance." Juvia said. "What I'm saying is, Detective, are you willing to form a deal with me."

"A deal?"

"Yes, a deal" She smiled mischievously. "I'll help you as much as I can with your case as long as you keep Gajeel's name out of it and of course, you have to keep your mouth shut."

Levy froze, she couldn't believe that this was happening.

"Don't think of yourself as special either, you're not the only one," Juvia added. "What do you say?"

"What would happen if I decline your offer?" Levy asked.

"I'll kill you right here, right now," Juvia spoke, venom laced into her voice. "It's not that hard."

"What else is in this deal of yours?" Levy asked, trying to form a negotiation.

"Well, I'll make sure to keep you safe. You can ask for my assistance anytime." Juvia started. "You can have all that as long as you keep your pretty little mouth shut. If you dare to break to the agreement, I'll make sure you won't be alive by tomorrow morning."

This is a trap. There is no escape. She has to do what she was told or else she dies.

"Do we have a deal?" Juvia offers her right hand for a shake.

Levy doesn't have a choice. She nodded and shook her hand.

True to what Juvia told. The woman helped the detective with the case. She met Gajeel Redfox, and the two men that are connected to the dealings are his rivals, and he wants them to be eliminated. She also has learned plenty of things about Amber Sin.

The original owner was Juvia's grandfather. The nightclub closed the moment they flew to Russia. Levy also realized that Juvia is not as bad as she taught she is. Aside from the murder, she's a kind person. She treats her employees with respect and kindness, out of all the nightclubs she's been in. The dancers in Amber Sin are treated extremely well. They are well-fed and their chambers look better than her apartment. It's quite ironic that a criminal would treat her employees better than normal business owners. This is the reason why Levy even recommended Amber Sin to Lucy in the first place. She knows she'll be safe in there.
