Amber often has what Slenderman calls "Relapses", where the girl will suddenly come back to her senses and starts freaking out and crying uncontrollably. 

During these little episodes, Amber will realize what exactly she's doing and regain her moral standards. She'll start to cry, and then she'll panic when she sees the killers surrounding her. She refuses to hurt anyone, and will metaphorically build walls up around herself

If she starts having one of these when she's at home, she'll lock herself in her room until she calms down, but if she's on a mission, the Slender Man will still force her to finish killing her victims, despite the fact that she obviously does not want to.

If/when she kills anyone on these relapses, she'll constantly feel remorse and regret over the person's death, even when she's back to her "normal" killer state of mind.
