Chapter 18

He was there, polluting the throne that was rightfully hers.

Draped on his lap was a dark skinned woman, her bountiful breasts pressed against the general's hard chest. A sinister grin graced the mermaid's lips, her fingers tracing Ro's sharp jawline.

"Hello there, your Majesty," she mocked.

Ava felt a snarl leave her lips, her weapons ready in hand.

"Queen Ava," Morgan said, "Be careful." Ava turned to the witch, caution written in his green eyes.

She turned back to look at her foe, "What do you know about her?"

Morgan curved his fingers, his talons elongating further as a small dark green ball of magic appeared, "Her name is Lilith. She's poisonous. Her aura sucks the moisture from the body and the essence from the soul."

Ava tensed, "How can she be defeated?"

"Marcus fought her and she didn't put much of a fight. Of course, he was a host of the Onyx god," Morgan murmured quietly, their eyes never leaving the couple that sat on the throne.

Ava cursed under her breath. The god of the Amber kingdom had been absent for a long time, ever since the her father was cursed. No longer were the prayers of the Amber were answered, finding love was difficult, an abnormality in the ways of the Amber.

Jonas.

"We must wait until Jonas leaves the orb," Morgan murmured quietly.

Lilith laughed, "You will have to wait several lifetimes for that to occur."

Ava whirled, "What do you know?"

Lilith smirked, her tail curling, "I sent one of my pets to break the bond."

Fear gripped her heart, Jonas! She thought.

"Atlantis!" Morgan cried out.

Ro grinned, "Ah, yes. That red haired Emerald prince. Such a pretty thing, he is. It's a shame he will die and not be part of the New World."

Morgan snarled, throwing the ball of magic towards the couple.

Ava watched as Lilith quickly moved, her hands splayed out as a black shield appeared between them, blocking the blow.

Ava took the moment to attack General Ro who in turn, rose from the throne to attack.

A smirk graced his lips, "Well Your Majesty? Who do you think will win this sparring match?"

Ava curled in her lip in a sneer, flashing her fangs, "I know who is the best fighter of the two."

With that, she lunged, her swords clashing against his.

"You're supposed to be dead!" Morgan snarled, his talons swiping at Lilith who only dodged his attack.

"When you're the product of black magic, death can be very difficult," she smirked, her hands forming a spell between them, "Especially when you have the help of a very powerful ally."

Morgan braced himself against her attack, using his golden bracelets to absorb the dark magic, "Who is he?"

Lilith licked her lips, her purple irises flashing, "Surely you must know Morgan. What god ruled the entire ocean before the lesser gods decided to take over?"

Morgan froze, his eyes wide as chills ran down his spine, "No. It can't be him. He's been gone for eons!"

Lilith grinned, "Oh you ignorant fool. He was always here," she said before lunging at him.

All Morgan could do was murmur a silent prayer to the gods to protect the one he loved most before launching an attack of his own.

******

He could feel it.

The power that hummed through his veins, increasing further in the palms of his hands.

Jonas couldn't see it but he knew he was trapped inside a hard object, something that wouldn't let him move. Panic rose inside his chest, increasing the pressure on his skin.

A sudden jolt cut a sharp pain across his cheek. He wanted to scream as the pain echoed through his skull.

Calm Jonas. Pain is only part of the life, a message that you're still alive.

The god's voice echoed through his skull, not helping alleviate the pain.

Concentrate. Focus the power to your hands, let it accumulate before letting go.

Jonas obeyed, his mind somehow wandering to Ava. After everything that Aviv showed him, he couldn't help but wonder why Ava didn't turn in a cold, bitter woman. Instead, she kept her promise, protecting the dangers that followed the innocent Roni.

Oh Ava, he thought, his heart swelling with an unknown emotion, feeding the power that grew in his palms. He could feel it stretch before it burst, the hard surface cracking around him.  He could feel his body in complete sync with the god that inhabited him.

Memories of the god's past poured into his mind, revealing the true intentions of his presence. The heavy weight of a pair of knives weighed in the palms of his hands, their purpose reminding him that of a WASP knife. A weapon he had used where the blade injected a freezing agent into the target and exploding it.

Jonas opened his eyes, the peaceful currents of the ocean coursing through like the ever moving winds.

A low growl brought him out of his peaceful thought. Jonas's eyes fell on the scaly body of a beast, looking like a dark, twisted version of a Gyarados.

Demon Ikari. A serpent who's sole purpose is to destroy, Aviv whispered.

Great, he thought, taking a stance, the fighting reflexes of the god ingrained in his muscle memory. He took a stance, both glowing amber blades poised in front of him, eyes focused on the only weak spot the creature had and with a single twitch of his lips, he launched himself against the serpent

****

He was powerful.

Of course he is you dolt, Atlantis thought as he peeled himself away from the side of the cave. Nearly crushed bones protested against the movement, a groan bursting forth from his lips. For a few moments, Atlantis was able to savor the silence and recollect the little strength his confused mind had left.

A deafening roar caught his attention, the serpent finally making it's appearance in full glory and not hiding behind the rocks that littered the area.

Atlantis paled, the massive beast coiled in front of Jonas who seemed like a a tiny light fae against the black serpent. He wanted to move and take his place next to Jonas as the warrior he grew up to be but a single glare from the god's host told him other wise.

Perhaps it was because he would be a hindrance to the small battle that was to occur, or maybe it was because he had done his part in helping the god. He would never know, for all he could was watch.

Even then, the fight itself was over before it could begin. He watched as Jonas took a stance, blades poised in front of him, marking a perfect X.

The host's eyes glowed a bright amber color, the blades glowing with equal measure. He could see the smirk that had been plastered on Jonas's lips.

It happened so fast. Jonas twisted his body, his coiled muscles propelling him forward, straight towards the serpent's eyes. Once he got close, he threw the glowing blades to the red orbs, earning a pained roar from the serpent.

Jonas clasped his hands together, whispering a few words under his breath, familiar words that Atlantis had heard Morgan speak.

The blades glowed a hot orange, boiling the water around it before sending a hot pulse into the serpent.

The serpent convulsed, veins of liquid fire appearing through the creatures skin before shattering into pieces of black rock.

Atlantis winced, the hot pulse having scalded his skin.

"Are you alright?" Jonas said, his eyes once again the shade of emerald green.

Atlantis huffed and rubbed his skin, "Just a bruised ego."

Jonas laughed, a low rumble that had come from deep inside his chest, "You did well your Highness. However, as much as I wish to continue our possible bromance, I wish to get to my Ava as soon as possible."

Atlantis nodded, "As do I. It seems there is trouble brewing in her kingdom."

Jonas nodded, "I know. Aviv showed me everything, and trust me, the enemy we are about to encounter is only a simple pawn that someone else is moving." Jonas stretched his hand, the two blades quickly flying back into his outstretched hand, "We must hurry and take Elric with us."

Atlantis eyes widened but he didn't dare to protest.
