Chapter 1 : Emergency Situation

Third Person POV-

Caroline rolls over with a groan because the person calling her like a made man is interrupting her well earned rest. She stretches out her arm grasping at her iPhone, hitting the bright green bottom ready to give this unknown person a piece of her mind when she is met with wailing sounds from a baby and a woman trying to calm the baby.

"Umm can I help you?" Caroline asks really confused as to who this woman is she doesn't know anyone with a baby.

"Yes I know you don't know me Caroline but I need you to come to New Orleans immediately, please I'm begging you." The woman pleads.

"I'm going to need a little more to go on, like why do you need me so desperately? And also like who are you?"
Caroline asks as she sits up in bed and runs her hand through her hair.

The woman sighs tiredly "My name is Davina, I'm a witch. I can't tell you everything over the phone but it involves the Mikaelsons. I had a Premonition of the future and I am supposed to contact Caroline Forbes to give you the task at hand. So please come to New Orleans I really need your help." Davina explains rather vaguely and makes a last plea for Caroline to come to NOLA.

Caroline can hear how stressed Davina is and knowing the Mikaelsons it is probably very important to have to reach out to her. She goes back and forth over the pros and cons in her head (one of the biggest pros is of course seeing Klaus again she has missed him since he left) with that....Caroline gets up and starts packing a small bag with the necessities and leaves a note for her mom explaining what little information she has.

"Okay where do you want me to meet you?" Caroline asks as she puts her things in her car and then sits in the driver's seat.

"I'll text a safe place to meet at, call back at this number when you arrive." With that Davina hangs up and true to her word texts Caroline a address.

Caroline shoves all of her raging thoughts and questions out of her mind and focuses on one thing driving to the address hoping this isn't a trap.

~After 12 hours of breaking all the traffic laws and one blood bank stop~

Caroline finally made it to NOLA unharmed Caroline finally gets to the address Davina had given her—it leads her to an apartment building on the other side of the city, and she has to park a bit away and then walks up many staircases and it is just a mess—she is irritable and exhausted. It is time for some answers. Knocking on the door, she is shocked by the sight of the person who answered. "Are you alright?" Caroline asks, more than a bit disturbed. The woman who opens the door is covered in blood, it smells like it is a few hours old.

The woman rolls her eyes. "Yeah, I'm fine. It's been hectic and I haven't had time to change yet." She starts walking off, before looking back at the young woman stuck on the threshold. "Oh, you can come in, by the way!"

"Thanks." Caroline glances around. Clearly this woman knows the vampire protocol. "I'm Caroline, by the way. You're Davina, right?"

"I'm Davina." A voice calls from another room. A petite brunette in a pretty dress floats into the room, holding a baby of all things. "I'm sorry I called at such a weird time, but it really was an emergency."

"About that..." Caroline follows the other two women back to where Davina had come from. "Why am I here? I mean, I'm not entirely sure why I even came in the first place, but like the Mikaelsons are sort of my friends if you can call it that, and you know, if they die that doesn't bode very well for me or my friends so like... What's going on?"

"I saw in a dream last night that you needed to come to New Orleans. It was important that I call you." Davina sighs out.

"If you didn't notice, New Orleans is a wasteland." Cami cuts in. "The city used to be under the control of Marcel, but when Klaus came to town, he wanted the power for himself." She stands up, looking for something around the room.

Caroline huffs. "As usual."

"I'm skipping a lot, but three days ago, the Originals went into an enchanted cemetery and never came out. Marcel and his men went into the place after it had been twenty-four hours with no word, but all they came out with was these." Cami holds up acouple very familiar items. Caroline stands and snatches them out of the other blonde's hands.
His necklaces....

....Klaus's ring...
The last item really catches her eye.

"You shouldn't have that!" She shrieks, her eyes wide. She slips them into her purse, and closes the latch. "These are very special things."

Davina takes over the story this time. "The witches in this city have gone power crazy. They've taken over. The Originals are missing, M-marcel is dead," The girl chokes up, and Caroline assumes Marcel was a member of her family or something, "and both Cami and I know it's because of the witches."

Caroline stands up and lifts her purse over her shoulder. "Look, I don't know who you two think I am, but I'm not here to help you take down a band of witches. I've been a vampire for just over a year. Find someone else better for the job."

"You're not here because we need your help." Davina shoots back. "You're here to take the baby."

It is like someone has dropped a very heavy thing on Caroline's head. She feels dizzy for a moment and tunnel-vision is starting to form before she snaps out of it. "Excuse me? Why do I need to take some random baby?"

The brunette witch scoffs. "Okay. So I lied a bit when it came to actually getting you here."

"Explain..." Caroline snaps, her tone frigid. I'm starting to sound like Klaus. "And give me the real story this time."

"Fine." Davina crosses her arms. "I assume you already knew Klaus impregnated the werewolf Mallory, correct?"

The vampire arches an eyebrow, her tone turning frosty. "I was told by Klaus, yes." He told her before her confession because if he expected her honesty then he gives it in return, no secrets between them, well we all know how Klaus is he does hide somethings but they agreed to be open about the big important things.

"Good. Well, that's who the baby is." Caroline's eyes open wide and she stands up pacing around.

"Why isn't she with her mother?! Did this Mallory run off on her kid?!!" The young vampire continues her pacing, emotions everywhere. They want her to take Klaus and this Mallory's child.

"Mallory died in childbirth. The baby was turned wrong and something happened... I don't really know. Either way, she hemorrhaged to death." Cami interjects. Caroline's mouth rounded in an 'o', and she lowers herself back down to the chair she had been sitting in. "From what she told me while I was delivering the baby, which I can tell you, I did not learn while getting my psych degree, the child's a hybrid of some sort. She's supposed to be powerful, so they want to kill her because she is Klaus's child."

"The ancestors knew something was going to go wrong and contacted me through my dreams to give the child to you, Caroline Forbes, because of the connection you share with Klaus. I called you right around the time Mallorys labor turned bad." Davina explains. "My coven figured out where Mallory had been staying a few hours earlier, and they expected on my assistance. They just didn't count on my playing turncoat—since they killed the only form of family I had left—and I informed Cami. We got Mallory to another location, but that must have upset something." She sighs, a young girl who had seen far too much in one evening. Caroline recognized that look, as she had seen it many times in the mirror.

With that, Caroline looks down at her hands, a tinge of color flowing to her undead cheeks. Great. Even magical ancestors seem to recognize me and Klaus's connection. "We're...complicated." She sums up pathetically, not fooling anyone. "And then you called me here."

"And then I called you here." The witch agrees. They all sit in silence for a few moments, Caroline digesting the bomb just dropped on her, and Davina and Cami taking in the events of the past twenty-four hours. They snap out of their peace, however, cause Caroline's hearing catches something.

"Is there any chance the witches might have figured out who took the baby? If there is, I think they just showed up." She looks at the two other women, and stands up when they sprang into action.

"My coven." Davina's voice fills with doom. "Caroline, you need to take the baby and get out of here."

Cami shoves the baby basket in her arms and pushes her towards a window. "There's a fire escape right there. Head up and towards the roof. They'll have the building surrounded, and with your vampire powers I'm sure you can jump somewhere."

"Will you two be safe?" Caroline asks, watching as Davina starts making the place look as if she and Cami were just hanging out.

"We'll be fine." Cami says. "It's just vampires and werewolves they don't like. Now go!"

"Run, Caroline!" Davina urges. "The witches will come after the child. I've cloaked her for the time being, but I don't know how long it will last."

Caroline breathes deeply and steps out onto the fire escape, just as someone starts pounding on the door. It is early April, and a bit of a breeze is present, so she briefly checks upon the child before crouching and launching herself up to the roof. Scanning around the base of the apartment building, she notices a few witches station at various points. She is going to have to get further away before heading down to the ground. Strategizing her next move, Caroline makes sure the baby and her purse are secure—God, I have an actual baby with me right now—before taking a running leap and onto the next rooftop. Two similar leaps later, she lands on the top level of the parking garage where she had left her car.

Adrenaline rushing through her veins, she speeds down to where she is parked and quickly goes inside the safety and familiarity of her vehicle. Then she looks down at the newborn who is ensconced in blankets in this baby basket thingy, and has a miniature panic attack. How the hell am I supposed to raise a fucking baby?

Taking a deep breath, Caroline dares to actually look at the little girl for the first time. The child appears to have Klaus's hair, as it is blonde, and there is a lot of it; of course, this is another Mikaelson trait. The young vampire runs a hand down her face, sighing. She doesn't know what to do, but what she does know is that she can't let an innocent baby die. Besides, she and Klaus are a lot more than just friends, at least according to that really amazing day in the woods. Who knows...? If I had taken up his offer to go to New Orleans, I may have ended up being a part of this baby's life anyways... Maybe.

It is when she went to leave, however, that Caroline realizes she is lacking important stuff. Like, a car seat. And diapers. Not to mention clothes... Looks like she is hitting the baby store before getting out of town.
