Chapter 9

(Cry's POV)

This isn't good. Mel has now run into Anti and has also seen Mad and me in the hallway at the same time. Granted, she thinks Anti was just Jack, and she has no idea that Mad exists, but I can tell she's getting suspicious. Jean is going to have to explain everything to her soon, or Mel is going to end up figuring everything out on her own. She seems like someone who would go digging for answers if those she asked didn't give her a proper response. I glanced back at her as we walked back to the game room in silence. I was, however, a bit surprised to find her staring right back at me.

"Something on your mind, Mel?" I ask friendly attempting to cover up my worriedness. She just shakes her head and changes her line of sight from me to the wall, looking at the various decorations and pictures we had about. I honestly didn't know what to say, so I just kept walking. After some time, we finally made it back to the gaming room where Jack was not luckily.

"Heya Mel!" Felix greeted with a wide smile. God, he always made things seem easier and he'd never even think twice about it. I smile under my mask as I made my way to sit in my boyfriend's lap.

"Hi," was all she responded with before sitting in the same spot she had been in before disappearing. Her gaze was fixed on the screen as Mark and Felix battled it out in smash bros (having already taken out Bob and Wade), but her mind seemed to be elsewhere. This made me a bit nervous, simply because I didn't want her making any crazy speculations or questioning what had happened in the hallway.

"DINNER!" Jean's voice rang throughout the house amazingly clear. She was always known to be a loudmouth but damn. Chuckling at my own thought, I glance back at my Swedish man.

"You heard her, Jean called for dinner and we all know how she can get if we keep her waiting," I inform the rest of the group. Bob nodded and began to make his way towards the door.

"Felix, you're not going anywhere until one of us wins this!" Mark exclaims. I glance back at the screen and see that they each have one life left, meaning it wouldn't take long for one of them to win.

"I'll stay with you guys," I say, not moving from my spot on Felix's lap. Mel stayed and watched for a few more seconds before getting up and following Bob. I prayed that she wouldn't ask Jean about anything that she has witnessed, or Anti and Mad wouldn't hear the end of it. We would probably get scolded as well for letting Mel wonder about unsupervised.

"It'll be okay," Felix whispered to me as he kissed my cheek before killing Mark. Here I thought I would've been a distraction but I guess not.

"Oh! You fuckin Swedish meatball asshole!" Mark howled in rage as he flung his controller down. I simply just laugh as I watch my other half would win yet again.

"Come on, we should get going before Jean gets annoyed with us," I say, getting up and walking to the door. I stand there, waiting for my love and Mark to rise as well before walking out and heading to the kitchen.

"I can't wait to have some of her pizza! Then again, someone did help her," Felix winked at me and nudged my arm.

"Oh quiet down before Mel hears you!" I whisper growl at him. Though he knows I'm only playing, none of us knew what to do about the Mel situation.

"So... what happened?" Mark asked in a concerned voice. I sighed and shoved my hands into my pockets.

"Well, she saw Mad and me in the hallway at the same time. I managed to play it off as her imagining things, but she's getting suspicious. I'm scared she's going to ask Jean about it.."

"It was bound to happen," Mark stated. He was right but still, I felt like I had just caused more trouble or at least more tension.

"Whatcha mean?" Felix asked curiously. I love him to death but he can't keep on top of things sometimes. Too much going on in his head since he's a big name in YouTube now. Mark gave us both a small smile before explaining.

"Did we all really except we'd be able to keep a secret like this away from someone that's a friend of Jean? Jean herself is a very... Investigative young lady. Anyone she attracts is just the same as her to a degree. No matter what we did, Mel would've found out sooner rather than later," he states with a calming smile.

"Yeah, I guess," I chuckle a bit as I speak. "We didn't even last a day without her knowing though." I walk ahead of the others a bit as we reach the kitchen. When I walk in a see Mel sitting next to Jean. Since neither of them reacted to our entry, I could only assume that Mel hadn't said anything to Jean yet. I sighed in relief as I grabbed a pizza for myself then sat down with Felix next to me, and Mark on the other side of him.

"How's everything?" Jean asked as she waits for everyone else to grab food before herself. I swear sometimes she just loves to worry the Hell out of Mad by doing that. She finally grabs a couple slices after most of the group, that's here that is, says it's wonderful or something along those lines. I sigh as I dig into my own slices before humming in delight. Jean always knew just how to feed a hungry crowd. I looked up once and saw Mel staring into the hallway as if someone was there. I turned and glanced down the hall as discreetly as I could, but saw nothing. Jean must have noticed her behavior because she nudged her friend to ask what was wrong, but Mel just shook her head. I couldn't tell if she genuinely believed my excuse or if she just wanted to figure out the answers to her questions herself.

"How's your day been so far, Mel?" Bob asks casually as he takes a drink of the water that was placed for us. He was always known for making tension disappear and Hell knows I'm thankful for that.

"It's been so much fun and uh, surprising, to say the least," she says smiling. At least she's smiling now, that's a start I guess.

"Surprising how?" I hadn't realized I was the one who's spoken until her eyes fell on me. Well, I just fucked myself over.

"Well, I mean, first off, I met all of my idols in one day, and also found my best friend apparently lives with them and neglected to tell me so," she said, glaring at Jean. You could tell she wasn't actually angry because there was a smile on her face and her eyes were lit up with joy.

"Okay in my defense, A) you would've thought I was crazy and B) how in the Hell was I supposed to tell you I lived with them all?" Jean chuckles as she finishes off another couple of slices. At least she's finally eating again, that'll definitely make things easier between her and him. I smile kindly as the two playfully argue.

"How long do you plan on staying?" Wade ask as he finishes his third plate. No wonder we go through so much food. I chuckle at my own thoughts.

"Me? I thought I figured I would just stay for dinner then go home." She shrugged, then took another bite of pizza.

"Are you sure?" Mark asked kindly. I almost choked on my bite of food when Mark spoke up. I was not in the mood for another episode like I heard about earlier. "You're welcome to stay as long as you'd like." Mel was silent for a few moments as if she was considering staying.

"Even if I wanted to stay, I don't have anything with me," she sighed out. A small ping of sadness seemed to spin about the dinner table at this comment. She was right but I also knew it was kind of dangerous for the other sides with her being here.

"I have some extra clothes you can borrow," Jean suggested. "I mean it's pretty late and it's a bit of a drive back to the city." Unless we knock her out again and teleport but let's just ignore that option. Then again, by her staying it would increase the chance of finding us out. My mind ran over all the different endings to this question being answered.

"Well, I guess I'll stay then!" She exclaimed, smiling broadly at everyone. Everyone seemed to become noticeably happier. A smile even worked its way onto my face, not that anyone would notice since I was wearing my mask. I guess they'll have to get over it for a night or two.

"Great! We have a guest room setup if you want to sleep in there or we can do a sleepover in my room!" Jean exclaimed excitedly. I could tell she was just happy to have another female in the house and who could blame her.

"I don't care honestly." Mel nibbled on the crust of her pizza, watching Jean as if expecting her friend to choose for her.

"Why don't ya two do a sleepover?" My other half pipes in with a cheeky smile. "I mean, Jean doesn't really get a lot of girl time being the only female in the house."

"Ain't that the truth," Wade poked at our hostess. I swear one of these days, Jean will smack the ever living hell out of him for comments like that.

"Wade, play nice," Bob comments with a slight smile. "Remember the last time you started something with Jean, it didn't end in your favor." Mel just chuckled as she watched everyone bicker before turning to Jean.

"That sounds like a plan to me," she said as she finished her food. She hadn't taken that much, to begin with, so why she was the last one done eating puzzled me a bit.

"Uhm... Everything okay Mel?" Someone asked, that someone ended up being me. Damn, I can't even tell when I talk when I'm lost in thought anymore. She turned me again, this time with confusion set on her features.

"Uh, yes? Why wouldn't I be?" She asked. Truthfully, I was concerned about her being off-put by seeing two of me in the hallway, but I couldn't just say that.

"You didn't take that much food and you ate slowly, so I just thought—" she cut me off with laughter. Okay, either I'm funny and just don't know it or she's already lost her mind.

"I don't know what you're talking about, I took a normal amount of food and ate a normal pace. You all," she waved her hand around the table, signaling she was talking about all of us. " scarfed down as much food as possible as fast as you could. I should be asking you if something's wrong!" That's because we're used to there being double the number of people eating at mealtime, Mad's voice crept into my mind. He was telling the truth. I guess I forget that there aren't a lot of groups like ours and when I see someone unlike us. I shake my head and smile widely as my friendly vibe just fills the room again.

"We're all good. Just not use to company I guess," I chuckle out as everyone else agrees. Do you think she knows? My counterpart asks me lightly like he's not even worried about if she does or not. I don't think she knows you guys exist, I reply carefully. But I don't think she's going to just let what she saw go. There were a few moments of silence in my head before Mad spoke up again.

We'll just have to wait and see what happens.
