Song of the chapter: Moth to a flame by the weeknd
AE: Sorry it took too long. I will try to update since I'm off for a week due to exams. I might not be able to post anything the 30th or 31st because I'm going to a friends house but I hope you enjoy.
"Nick" I say with my hand on the side of his neck.
"What?" He asks leaning in a bit.
"What do you think your doing." I ask leaning in a bit as well.
"God Olivia. You don't know what you do to me. I can't be in the car alone with you without wanting you." He says and I bite my lip
"God everything you do turns me on. I can't close my eyes without seeing you. Your face is engraved into my mind. I can't see you with other guys. I know no one deserves you. Not even me." He adds and I pull him in. I kiss him but pull away when I hear the door open. I push him off of me as I see my butterfly heel. I look back at Nick as I walk to the door.
"Jenna." I say hugging her.
"Are you heading out?" I ask
"Yeah. It's getting pretty late. We were waiting for you guys but you two took to long. why?" She asks.
"Well." I say looking back at Nick. "I made him stop because he was driving like a god damn maniac and I didn't want to die." I tell Jenna
"Makes sense." She says walking towards her car.
"See you tomorrow. I have to return all this anyways." She says and I nod
"yea. See you tomorrow." I watch her drive off before I feel Nick wrap his arms around me.
"Can't get enough of me huh?" I ask turning towards him. He just shakes his head. We walk in kind of distant from each other. We both head to the kitchen and no one was in there lucky us. I check the time and it was late. It was currently 2am. I whisper to Nick.
"No wonder no one is awake." I say looking at him
"Oh lucky me." He said smirking.
"Lucky you." I reply. He takes a step towards me so he is right in front of me. He picks me up from my waist and puts me on the counter. He steps in between my legs and rests on hand on my thigh. I look down at his hand then up at him. He is already staring at me intensely. I smile at him and he leans in. I start to lean in but pull back.
"This is wrong. I'm still with Luke." I say looking at Nick
"Then break up with him." He replies staring at me then my lips.
"And tell him what Nick? Oh I want to break up because I like my step brother." I say looking into his eyes.
"Give it time. A lot of long distance relationships don't work." He says shrugging before leaning in.
"I guess you right." His lips touched mine, and in that brief moment, I forgot it all-forget that we weren't supposed to do this, that Nick and I were siblings and hated each other in the beginning. The tension that sparked between us had turned into something altogether raw and magnetic.
Then I heard it-soft footsteps on the stairs. My heart fell.
"Someone's coming," I whispered, pushing him away.
Nick straightened, and in a second, his face was cold, impassive. We struggled for nonchalance: I reached into the fridge, and Nick casually leaned against the counter. Just as I laid my hands on a bottle of water at random, my mom stepped into the kitchen, squinting in the poor light.
"What are you doing up at this hour?" she said, her voice husky.
"Nothing," said Nick briefly. "Just a drink."
Mom didn't look convinced, but before she could ask more, Nick turned to me, his face twisted into the cruel mask I knew too well. "You know," he said, his voice low but sharp, "you're always in the way, Olivia. Maybe you should stop inserting yourself where you don't belong."
I froze, his words hitting me like a slap.
"What?" I whispered.
He stepped closer to him, his voice low and dripping with venom. "You bring absolutely nothing to this family, useless. No one wants you here, so why don't you do everybody a favor and leave?
My breath caught. For a moment, I thought it was some act, something to really throw my mom off. But his face. I wasn't so sure. I felt as though my chest had shrunk with my vision blurring, and the threatening tears refused to be held back.
I pushed past him, muttering, "I can't do this," and ran out of the kitchen.
"Olivia?" Mom called, alarm raising her voice as I ran upstairs.
I ignored her. I couldn't bear to stop, couldn't let her see me like this. I made it into my room, slamming the door shut and dropping to the floor. The sobs came then, uncontrollable.
Had he meant it? Or was it simply another way to protect that facade we built for everyone else? I didn't know, and not knowing was something that could cripple me in ways his words alone could never do. I rest my head in my knees as I start bawling my eyes out. I didn't notice the fact I fell asleep but I woke up in that position. I checked the time to see it was 7:30am. No one would be awake at this time and the sun was just starting to rise. I didn't want to see Nick. His words still stung. My head was also killing me. Not a good idea to get totally wasted. I stood up and got into a bathing suit. Was anything he said true? I got into a simple dark blue bathing suit and grabbed a towel. I opened my door slowly trying not to make a noise but when I opened it Nick was standing there. He looks at me as I opened it. Then at my bathing suit.
"What are you doing up?" I ask glancing at the time. It didn't take me long to get ready. Only 7:45.
"I could ask you the same." He says and I shrug.
"I set a timer." I lie.
"Why?" He asked. I give him a look as I point to my bathing suit.
"Is it not obvious." I ask walking past him.
"Wait it's too early for that." he says as I continue walking. He starts following me and I turn to look at him.
"Look, I don't need you following me like a lost puppy. It's not even too early to go swimming. So just go to bed or something because I have no idea how long you were outside my door and you look tired." I say turning and walking down the stairs. He watches me walk away before heading to his room. I head to the beach and set my towel and phone down. I walk into the water. it's cold.
