Chapter 20

"Listen, everything is going to be fine Pringle. Relax."

Hellbent stood in a bright red phone booth, a gray telephone propped agenist his ear. His tail swished back and forth.

"No it's not okay! There is someone who wants us both dead now! Not just me. I dragged you into this."

Hellbent sighed and shook his head. "You don't need to worry about me okay? What really matters is that you are okay. Everything will be fine as long as you stay there. And...." Hellbent's voice drifted off.

"And never see you again." Pringle said flatly. "I'm not stupid Hellbent. You know that."Pringle whispered into the phone.

Hellbent fell silent for a few minutes. "I...I know. Someday Pringle. We will be able to see each other again. I promise."

After that Hellbent hung up the phone. Pringle isn't missing. He's hiding. Hellbent made sure that no one will ever find or harm him. Unfortunately until Hellbent find this person, they can't communicate normally or see each other. It's too risky.

Hellbent shoved his hands in his pocket and began walking back home. He of course misses Pringle. He is his lover. But this is for the greater good. In order to make sure Pringle is safe and out of harms way, he must hide. It's the only way.

Hellbent soon arrived at his front door. Realizing he forgot his key he sighed. "Failure after failure after failure..." He muttered as he knocked on the door. "Yo Dolan! Open up it's me!"

No answer.

"Strange...Dolan usually answers..." Hellbent scoffed. "Maybe he is still mad." He thought as he leaned over and tapped on the window. "Oh Doooolan! I know you are mad. Come on, just answer the door already for your bro."

No answer.

Hellbent raised a eyebrow and became suspicious. "Guess I will jump the gate then..." Hellbent stepped off the porch and walked around to the gate leading to their line of cars. Jumping onto a trashcan, Hellbent leaped over the fence with ease.

"Okay Dolan this isn't funny! I get that you are mad but come on!" Hellbent yelled out as he looked at the three cars lined up ever so perfectly. Their house didn't come with a garage so they parked the cars in the backyard to save space in the driveway.

Hellbent's eyed each car and began counting them. "1...2...3..." One was missing. It was a bright blue Mustang with a white and dark blue strip down the middle. Dolan's favorite.

"Dolan!" Hellbent yelled. "If this is some kind of sick prank I swear I will..." Hellbent's gaze slowly turned toward a white letter tapped to the right window of Hellbent's red and black pickup. Hellbent walked over and took it off, analyzing the writing. On the front it said, Hellbent, in cursive.

Hellbent ripped open the letter and the handwriting hit him instantly. It was Critical's.

"Dear Hellbent,

Please don't be mad, it was all Dolan's idea. We are out looking for Pringle okay? Sorry but we found a map in your room that had a circle on the town next to ours so we are driving there as you read this. We will be back before you know it.

Signing off- Critical, Dolan"

Hellbent's hands shook in fury. "They left!?" Hellbent quickly whipped out his phone and dialed Dolan's number. "Pick up, pick up...."

"This number doesn't exist. Please try again later."

Hellbent gasped and looked at his phone. He also tried Critical's number but the same response.

"This number doesn't exist. Please try again later."

Hellbent's fists where white with fury. He scrolled through his contacts and found the number he never wanted to dial again. "Dan." Dialing the number, he waited patiently for a response. He silently wished their wouldn't be one.

But their was.

"Ah look who it is! The big bad Hellbent shows his voice once again!"

"Where is my brother Dan? I know you have them."

Hellbent could hear loud, booming laugh over the phone. "Brother!? Ha! My boss told me everything you filthy liar! Just like old times right? It was just you and me. Causing havoc wherever we stepped."

"Daniel. Where is my brother?" Hellbent was slowing becoming more and more annoyed.

There was some scuffling and a whimper. Then the sound of Dolan came on. "Hellbent?"

"Dolan! Are you and Critical okay?!"

"Hellbent...I'm so sorry..they..they got-" The phone was yanked from Dolan and soon Dan was talking again.

"If you want to see any of them again. You know where to find me."

Then he hung up.

Hellbent was left speechless." He...He found Pringle?" Hellbent dropped to his knees. "No...."

"What should I do?" Hellbent covered his head with his arms and tried his best to find a idea. A spark of hope. But there was nothing. Only emptiness.

"Failure....after failure....after failure..."
