A few hours later the group figured out that the carvings were made by Lust and formed a strange ancient transmutation circle. The purpose was unknown along with the meaning. They figured that it might be linked with the stone of legend. Edward decided to fix the streets so that the circle was no longer there. The four then went to report to Colonel Mustang about their findings and suspicions.

"So, you believe the Homunculi were behind that?" Roy asked with a stern tone.

"Yeah. We saw Lust here last night. Kari was there too but she looked like she was confused. Like she didn't know why she was there." Edward replied and Roy hummed.

"... What would Lust want with a normal child?" Roy asked with a low hum and Edward began to think about Kari's ability. He only knew of that one she used on him back when they met but she had more than that.

"I don't know Colonel. I will look into it when I can." Edward replied with a sigh.

"Alright. I'll see you soon." With that Edward and Roy hung up the phones.

"What is going on? What could the Homunculi be planning?" Edward thought as he rejoined the group with a sigh.

"So, Kari is with that fullmetal pip-squeak?" Envy asked Lust with a grumble. The two were in a tree as well as Gluttony, who was eating a bird. Lust sighed.

"Apparently. This will be interesting. Let's go you two." Lust stated and the three were off to do the next part of their plan.

Hours later the group were off to Central for about a week to get information and to relax for a while then they were sent off on another mission in Rush Valley. There were reports of a strange noise coming from the direct center of town starting at noon and continuing every hour on the hour until about nine the same night. This has been going on for about two weeks now and the sound changes each day. One day someone reported drilling while some one else heard clanging from a pick axe and then there was a sound similar to rocks tumbling.

"Well, Rush Valley we go." Edward said while he stretched his arms up. Alphonse giggled happily.

"You think we will see Winry? I mean it would be nice to meet her since we haven't seen her in a while." He suggested and Edward nodded.

"Who's Winry?" Kari asked innocently and Alphonse looked to the girl that he was holding on his shoulders, Kari wanted a piggyback ride and Alphonse gladly gave her one.

"She's a good friend of ours and she's Ed's automail mechanic." He replied and Kari nodded with a wide smile. The four boarded the train and were on their way. Alphonse began to think about something as the train moved forward while Kari was playing in the background with a person's cat, who said it was okay and Kitearo was outside to get a breath of fresh air, he trusted the Elric brothers to watch Kari in his absence because they knew what he would do to them if Kari was harmed in anyway. "Brother..." Alphonse said moments later and Edward looked at the boy. "Since it's not too far away, maybe we could take Kari to see teacher... I mean Kari has alchemy-like powers yet she doesn't even know it. We saw what she can do a few weeks ago and it felt familiar to me..."

"Yeah. It felt like a flow of sorts. Similar to alchemy yet very different. Maybe teacher can help. We should ask Kitearo when we have the chance." Edward replied with a thoughtful hum.

Soon Kitearo came back and sat down and the brothers asked if they could take Kari to see their teacher so she could help Kari. Kitearo agreed on the condition that he would also become a student, which the brothers agreed that they would try. When the four arrived in Rush Valley they looked around and noticed that there were not that many people as there usually was. The group went towards the center of town and began to look. It was almost one o'clock which meant today's sound would echo very soon.

"Ed! Al! Hey!" A voice called with a happy laugh. A young girl ran up with a wide smile. She had blond hair pulled up in a smooth long ponytail and sparkling blue eyes. The group stopped and the Elric brothers turned to see Winry. They waved happily and Kari stared along with Kitearo, who had his arms crossed as he examined the teen that just ran up.

"Hey Winry!" Alphonse said with a wave and Edward smiled.

"Hey." He greeted and Kari walked up and hid behind Alphonse. "Oh, Winry meet Kari and Kitearo. Kari, Kitearo this is Winry." Edward introduced and Kari waved shyly while Kitearo came up and shook hands with Winry.

"Nice to meet you. I'm Kitearo Argentum."

"Hi, I-I'm Kari Himura." Kari stammered with a gulp. She was a little shy. Winry smiled kindly as she waved at Kari. the group then mingled with Winry for a while as well as another girl with milk chocolate skin and both of her legs were automail, her name was Paninya. The time was now twelve fifty seven so the group went to the center of town and began to wait there while Winry and Paninya did their best to tell them what was going on.

"It only happened recently but it's really spooky. It's like someone is trying to dig something up or is burying something. Not only that but sometimes there are screams after the noises." Winry gulped and Paninya nodded.

"Yeah. It just gives me and a lot of other people here a bad feeling. That's why a lot of people left." Paninya sighed sadly as she recalled some of her friends fleeing the town. Kari frowned then gulped as the time ticked away.

"I'm sorry this is all happening." She said after as moment. Paninya looked down at her as well as Winry.

"It's alright kid." Paninya smiled and Winry nodded.

"Yeah, it's not your fault." Just as Winry finished speaking the clock struck one and a clanging noise echoed through the town. Edward blinked and looked around. He listened closely and began to hear voices behind the clanging. Edward frowned then clapped his hands and put them on the ground then made a big hole in the ground with his alchemy so he could go down. Edward looked to Alphonse then jumped down the hole.

"Come on Al!" He called and the suit of armor nodded then followed with Kari and Kitearo close behind. The four were now in the sewers of Rush Valley which the walls were covered with shiny metals and the ground had dirty water. They walked on then heard a sniffing sound. All eyes turned to Kitearo who shook his head in response with his hands in the air defensively.

"Not me." He whispered. "I swear."

"Well, well, well. Look who's shown up. It's those brothers. And they've made a few friends too." A voice echoed and out came a man with black hair and dark brown eyes. "It's been a while Elrics. You come to tell Greed that secret of yours armor boy?" He asked and Alphonse shook his head.

"What's going on down here, Dolcetto?" Edward asked and Dolcetto blinked.

"You tell me Al's secret and I tell you what we're doing here." Edward growled and footsteps echoed the tunnel. From behind a hand dug tunnel to the left Greed appeared with his usual smirk.

"Come on Dolcetto, let them be." Greed sighed and he looked over the four people across from him. Greed then stared at Kari and his eyes widened in shock. "Well, well, well. What do we have here? Are, perhaps, miss Kari Himura?" He asked smugly.

"Yeh." Kari replied with her guard up while Kitearo stood in front of her with a growl and his hair slowly spiking up. Greed smirked as a plan hatched in his head. He went to attack Kari after shoving Kitearo out of the way. Kari gasped in shock as she began to act off of instinct. Her eyes went dull and she put her arms in front of her, her left arm aligned with her eyebrows and her left aligned with the middle of her nose. Kari's scarf ends aligned perfectly with Kari's arms and were as hard as a shield. Greed's claws hit the scarf ends and he smirked. The impact sent the hood to Kari's cloak flying off to reveal her face.

"As I thought." Greed said with a low chuckle. Kari frowned and pushed Greed back then glared at him slightly.

"What... Want?" Kari mumbled in an emotionless tone. Greed blinked.

"She's so strong, as predicted. But she can't control herself very well. I doubt she even knows she can do this." Greed thought and eyed the others, who were kept occupied by Greed's bodyguards.

"What I want is you to be in my side. Think about it kid. You can have anything you want that isn't already mine." Greed offered and then Edward chimed in.

"Don't listen to him Kari! He's bad news!"

"Yeah! Don't do anything he says!" Alphonse called with a grumble.

"Come on, Kari." Greed snickered. Kari glared at Greed and frowned.

"No." She said and stood up straight. Greed widened his eyes then frowned. He sighed and glanced at his "comrades" and let out a grumble.

"Let's go. We're done here." He said and began to walk away but then he stopped and glanced at Kari from over his shoulder, his eyes narrow. "Watch your back kid. You are valuable to a lot of people. Me included." He stated and Kari nodded as she watched the group walk away, with a cart of metal that was being pulled by Rao.

Kari soon began to feel dizzy. She fell back and passed out from exhaustion. Kitearo rushed up to the girl to check her vitals and see if she was alright. She was fine, thankfully. Edward and Alphonse walked up and exchanged glances then looked to Kitearo and the passed out Kari.

"What do you think that was about?" Alphonse asked. Edward shrugged and replied.

"Dunno... Maybe the Homunculi know something about Kari's abilities, whatever she's able to do... They obviously want her on their side and it looks like they'll stop at nothing to get their hands on her." Edward sounded a little upset. Kitearo then stood up and held Kari like an infant while fixing her hood so her face was hidden then the group went back to the surface. Kitearo, Edward and Alphonse then fixed the big hole in the city so no one would fall and get hurt then walked to where Winry was staying. They were given a room for the night and they slept well.

While Kari and Kitearo were asleep, Edward thought of what could be happening. First he finds out that he and Alphonse are some sort of sacrifice for the Homunculi then they meet Kari and a whole new part of this world sized puzzle appears out of nowhere, just there with no pieces to place so it is just a blank slate. This bothered the gold haired boy until he fell asleep for the night.
