The next day Kari woke up with a groan and sat up slowly. Kari did not remember much and looked around, seeing the room she was in. The girl saw she was in her usual clothing and then noticed her older brother to her left on a bed exactly like the one she was in. Kitearo was still asleep so Kari thought that she would look around. She adjusted her hood and exited the room to see many people dressed in similar looking uniforms, some of which had a pocket watch around their pants or somewhere on their uniform while some carried papers.

Kari gasped lightly and grew ever more curious as she saw all the things. Soon Kari came across the cafeteria where many of the people were. The young girl shivered upon seeing so many people in one room.

"Hey, you're that girl Colonel Mustang asked to talk to yesterday, right?" A blond haired and brown eyed woman asked upon seeing Kari. The young girl jolted back, slightly startled. "Relax kid. I won't hurt you. Mustang told us not to." She said and Kari sighed but kept her guard up. "I'm Riza Hawkeye, it's nice to meet you." The woman said in a kind tone of voice and Kari hesitantly replied.

"I'm... Kari Himura..." Riza then showed Kari around so she would know where she was and where to go so she would not get lost.

Moments later there was the sound of metal clanking echoing through the hall. It was Alphonse just roaming. Riza stopped him and asked if he could finish showing Kari around since she had some work to do. Alphonse happily took up showing Kari around.

"Oh, this is the library. Ed spends a lot of his time here." Alphonse giggled happily as he pointed out the different rooms moments later. Kari nodded with a curiouser expression on her unseen face. Alphonse then looked at Kari and then ahead. "Uh, K-Kari... I was wondering... What was that thing you did yesterday..."

"What thing?" Kari asked innocently and Alphonse blinked.

"That thing! With that word that started with a V or something. Ed and I were wondering about it all night." Kari tilted her head in confusion.

"I honestly don't know what you're talking about, Alphonse. But if I find something out then I'll let you know. Something's telling me you're a good person." Kari giggled and Alphonse blushed out of embarrassment even though he was a suit of armor.

"Alright. Down here is the phone room where Central keeps in touch with other places in Amestris just to see what is going on." Alphonse informed and went on. The two were soon outside of the building so Alphonse could show Kari the other buildings. "You might want to steer clear of some of these places, Kari." The suit of armor warned. "We aren't sure why but people who cross to this line and into that part of HQ never come back. We are looking into it now but we don't have any leads."

Kari stared at an eerie warehouse like building with a sigh. She then looked down to see a red line an inch away from her toes. It also had a line connecting from the first red line to the building and there were more just like this, all making a pattern. As Kari bent down to inspect the line and went to touch it but she got shocked and the line vanished as she stumbled backwards. Alphonse went to see if Kari was okay, which she was.

"Alphonse... Can you show me back to the cafeteria? I'm a bit hungry." Kari giggled nervously and Alphonse nodded then showed Kari to the cafeteria and sat with her as she ate when she got her food. Kari kept quiet unless she was spoken to and even then her voice would be soft and she would reply in short bursts.

As Kari and Alphonse spoke for a few moments Edward walked over and sat down with a tray of food and huffed. The older Elric brother glanced at Kari as he ate his food then sighed. "Hey, Kari right? What was that--"

"I already asked brother." Alphonse said and Edward blinked in slight shock. "She... Doesn't know anything." The younger Elric brother stated in a sad tone then Kari swallowed her food and spoke up.

"I'm sorry I couldn't help you... But maybe Kite can. I'm sure he'll be here soon." Kari stated and the two looked at her a little confused.

"What makes you say--" Edward began but was cut off by a howl and then Kari was picked up and brought into a hug by the silver haired teen she was speaking about. The Elric brothers just stared with wide eyes.

"Hey Kite." Kari giggled childishly and Kitearo growled in a protective way.

"Are you alright? Where did you go? YOU'RE NOT EVEN WEARING YOUR SHOES!" Kitearo began to go into over-protective-big-brother mode and Kari laughed.

"I was getting a tour of the place from Miss Riza Hawkeye then she had something to do so Alphonse showed me around." Kari explained happily and Kitearo blinked then looked at Alphonse and then back at Kari. The teen then put Kari on the ground again and decided that he would join them after getting some food. The four talked, mainly just the Elric brothers talking to one another about this stone that could fix them while Kari and Kitearo stated under the radar and kept quiet.

Hours went by and Kari was outside messing around with some of the animals that snuck in as well as Riza's dog and Chase. Kari giggled happily and inched closer and closer to that place Alphonse told her not to go to. She did not know she was doing this because it was kind of like she was unwillingly being drawn there. Once she was in the exact same spot she was when Alphonse showed her the place she just stared while Black-Hayate just kept his distance and barked loudly.

"Hush puppy." Kari said with a wide smile and then looked up at the building while her nose twitched. "I smell adventure... Come on Puppy! Er, Black-Hayate." Kari then pressed on and went into the bone-chilling warehouse while Black-Hayate stayed behind and watched.

Kari walked around and looked up at the falling steel support beams. She held Chase close as she ventured towards what looked like a cellar door. Eventually Kari opened the rotting red wood doors and saw that there was nothing but stairs and darkness. Kari gulped then went down to see what this was.

"Looks like the little one is on her way."

"Can I eat her?"

"No gluttony, she's our guest."

"Yeah fatty. Keep in mind she's not food. Go eat one of those corpses over there to keep yourself busy."

"Both of you hush. She's almost here."

Kari soon appeared in a room that was lit to the point that the cement walls looked like a blueish silver color. There was a circular pattern in the center of the room and bones in a corner near a weird container that held crimson liquid. Soon Kari heard a creaking sound then a set of healed feet approaching her and soon Kari saw a woman standing in the middle of the circular pattern with a kind smile.

"Hello there child." She smiled kindly and Kari backed away. The woman wore a midnight black dress with long jet black hair, purple lips and violet eyes and a red symbol on her breast bone. She gave Kari a motherly smile. "What brings you here?"

"I... I dunno... I just thought it'd be cool to come here and see what all the fuss was about..." Kari replied with a gulp. Then a man wearing a black top and black skirt like bottom and dark green palm tree style hair, violet eyes, a black sports headband with a red triangular symbol on it, black gloves and black socks that reveal his heels and toes. He also had the same symbol Lust had but it was on his left outer thigh.

"Hey short stuff. You wanna have some fun." Kari growled at the statement since this person called her short.

"Envy not now. I'm talking to her."

"Whatever Lust." Envy growled and crossed his arms then Lust sighed then took a step forward and Kari took a step back only to trip and fall on the stairs behind her.

"Ow!" Kari called and then stood back up then dusted her rear. Lust frowned as if she just saw a loved one get hurt. "So... What is going on here?" Kari asked and Lust blinked.

"Well... We are making a philosophers stone... Well trying to anyways. We haven't found out much..." Lust explained then a fat bald man came up. He had a weird young with a symbol on it like Lust had and a leotard like suit. Kari stared at him.

"Is that her Lust... The one we were told about so long ago?" He asked.

"Yes Gluttony. It is her." Kari gulped and shivered then began to grip Chase tighter. "Don't be scared Kari. We won't--"

"How do you know my name?!" Kari yelped in slight fear. Lust sighed and approached Kari and knelt down in front of her then opened her mouth to explain but a clank surprised Lust.

"KARI!!"

"Damn it! That Edward Elric is here!" Envy growled. Lust stood up then backed away.

"You'll find out soon enough Kari. You will find out." With that said the three escaped and Edward, Alphonse and Kitearo arrived behind the confused child. Kari looked up at them and they began to ask her if she was okay as well as other things.

"I'm okay. Honest." Kari smiled. Everyone then began to exit when a lizard jumped on Kari's head and pulled down her hood to show her hair and eyes. The Elric brothers saw her and gasped.

"An Ishvalan?!" Alphonse gasped and Kitearo picked Kari up and held her close with a growl.

"She's not Ishvalan by blood! She's Amestrian born but Ishvalan raised!" He growled, trying to think of a way to explain this to them since they might not believe his words. Edward stared in thought and Kari gulped as she felt his eyes on her.

"Kari, put your hood on. Al keep your mouth shut. We won't tell anyone. We won't have anyone else find out. What we saw here stays here." Edward said and Kitearo widened his eyes in shock.

"Are.. . They helping us?! Did... Kari see this level of kindness in them yesterday? Well I can't ask her now..." Kitearo thought while Kari pulled up her hood. The four walked back to the main building. Roy pulled Edward aside for a moment while Kari hung out with Alphonse and Kitearo watched from a distance with a small smile.
