𝐂𝐇𝐀𝐏𝐓𝐄𝐑 𝟔: Keira - interviewed
Here we are.
I feel sick and I'm tired.
And hungry. Although I just ate two sandwiches. And an apple, but that doesn't count.
The building in front of me is ... impressive.
It's one of those older High schools, doesn't look pretty modern. I like it.
"Hello there."
I jump back in surprise, screeching like a bat or something. Wow, I didn't even know my voice could be THAT high!
However: The reason why I nearly got a major heart attack is standing right in front of me.
It's – or, to say it in a more friendly way, he's – a boy.
Around my age I'd say.
"Hello.", my mum says. "We're the Wilds. Do you know, where-?"
"Oh, yeah. I'm supposed to lead you to Mrs Erlinghams office.", he answers, smiling at both of us. "My name's Luca."
"Well, hello Luca. This is my daughter Keira!"
"Hi.", I say.
"Well ... shall we go then?", he asks, looking at us.
"Sure.", my mum says. "We'll follow you!"
Yes we will.
Yes we DID actually – we've reached the headmistress' office.
"I'm gonna leave you alone from here on. Have a nice day!", Luca says, smiling at us once again.
"You too!"
"Yeah ... one question: Is this school good with, you know ... coming along with fire situations?", I ask quickly.
Luca looks at me in surprise, no wonder, I'd look like that too if someone would say something like what I just said to him!
"Well ... I'm not sure about the way we handle "Fire situation". But, ehm ... this school is probably the safest school ever, so I guess we'll walk with pride through "Fire Situations" too."
Can he please stop talking about "Fire Situations"?!
It sounds stupid, and yes, I know I've used that word first!
"Thanks.", I say, trying to smile. It feels like I've failed.
"Mrs Wild?"
That's the second time in a few minutes my heart nearly stops to beat! I'm serious, how long am I going to survive in this thing called school?
I hope they have a hospital close to it.
"Yes, pleasure to meet you!", answers my mum in her usual friendly way, shaking the hand of the woman.
I'm pretty sure she's the headmistress. Mrs Erlingham.
"Hello Keira."
I take her hand, and shake it slightly. I'm probably doing something wrong right now.
Well, at least she's not squishing my hand like some other humans did.
"It's nice to meet you. Please, come inside, and we'll talk about the stipend and stuff. I have some tea."
"Oh, are you British?", my mum asks excitedly.
"I am indeed. At least half British!", Mrs Erlingham answers and we all walk inside her office.
It's a very organized, but also a very full room! Wherever I look: Books, files, books, boxes, books, wooden ... stuff.
"So. You've been expelled three times since you've started going to High school last year?"
Wow, what a great entrance for a first-time-meeting-interview!
"Ehm ... yeah. That's true.", I answer nervously.
"Your last school was Fabienne High. Did you like it there?"
"Nah, not really.", I say, but then I start to realise what I've just might have said. "But ... but that's not why I burnt down the lab, I mean, I didn't burn down the lab and I would never burn down a lab, but-"
"What she's trying to say, is that mean people just keep accusing her of stuff she didn't do!"
That's so not what I was trying to say, but thanks mum!
"I understand. Keira, how are your grades? Are you a good student?"
"Nah. I'm just ... something. In the middle of it.", I say.
"What she's trying to say, is that ... you know, Keira is very shy-"
"Absolutely not!", I cut of mum. "Sorry for interrupting."
"It's okay, thank's for your honest answers. Keira, you probably expect to share a room don't you?"
I nod slowly.
"And you're right with that! Two people share one room, and every two rooms are connected, so that you have three girls living right next to you."
"Okay?", I say, not understand anything she just said. It probably wasn't that important anyways.
"I could give you more information, but you don't really seem to want it. So, I guess the other girls are just going to tell you the stuff you have to know.
Luca's going to show you your room."
I nod and stand up, looking at my mum.
"Mrs Wild, please stay here for a few minutes, maybe we should talk about your questions if you have some.", says the headmistress friendly, and my mum nods gratefully.
