Yuri walked home unconsciously humming to herself, a big smile on her face. She opened the door of her house, took off her shoes and went upstairs to her room, she then set up some jasmine oil for a more comfortable atmosphere, she changed her uniform to her classic beige sweater and a pair of black leggings, took from her backpack the book shaped box where Natsuki had put the cupcake she made for her and laid on her bed holding the little object across her chest dearly careful not to ruin it still smiling from ear to ear.
She closed her eyes and began remembering all the things that had happened on that odd yet awesome day for her, despite having to deal with those bullies on her class, with them throwing paper balls at her or passing next to her seat slapping her book off her hands to the floor, as soon as lessons ended and she got to the literature club her day began to have an unexpected turn of events, she received a lovely present, was able to share something she likes with someone, walked home with someone and she even was for the first time ever saved from those bullies, but most importantly, she'd made a new friend. She always considered Monika and Sayori as friends, although she couldn't say she was the best of friends with neither of them, both have always been nice to her and would talk to her from time to time, whether it was about poems, school or literature stuff in general but she never really had a deep conversation as she would've liked or shared something she was passionate about, but still she hold them dearly for being some of the few people who were nice to her and never judged her for what she likes or her appearance. Then there was Natsuki, a girl who a few days later of knowing her had begun to argue with almost on daily basis, she'd often start a fight with her over anything really, but most of the times it was because of the poem sharing, Yuri really did believe the girl hated her for some reason and the sole thought of consider her as a friend seemed impossible. But to anyone's surprise, it was this same girl who just gave her probably one of the best days of her life in years, Yuri wondered what had got into her this day as Natsuki acted almost like a completely different person if it weren't for her still maintaining her tsundere attitude. Yuri thought this was too good to be true as insecurities and anxiety made their presence, she started thinking this could be some sort of prank or perhaps nothing but dream and she'd wake up at anytime by now. As these thoughts made her way into Yuri's mind her smile faded away and began to feel down again, she then looked at the small book box with purple kitten stickers she was holding and did her best to shake those thoughts away, if this was a dream she at least wanted to enjoy it while it lasted, as for the possibility of a prank, putting some thought into it Yuri tried to convince herself that could not be the case, why would Natsuki go as far as to almost pick a fight with four other girls who were all taller than her just to help her? She could've ignored her not getting involved in something that was none of her business, just like everyone else do, but she stayed, she stayed and helped her despite the odds, nobody would go that far just for a stupid prank. She shouldn't doubt her friend after all she did for her today, Yuri felt bad for doing so and unlocked her phone to distract herself a little, still holding the box with her other hand. Scrolling through the usual notifications for app updates and the sort, she made sure she didn't have any new texts sent to her. Nothing, as usual. The few text she'd receive sometimes were only from her parents who were always on business trips, asking her if she still had enough money for whatever she needed, others came from the literature club group chat that Monika had made in case there were situations regarding the club that needed discussion outside school, of course they'd sometimes just shitpost, being Sayori and Monika the most active in the conversation with Natsuki replying with shitpost of her own from time to time, Yuri limited herself to replies like "hehe", "hahaha", "nice", or the sort, she wasn't really good with shitpost or chatting in general, mostly because she'd lost track of what the others are talking about.
All of sudden an idea struck her mind, she went to the group chat options to see if could get Natsuki's contact from there, luckily for her she got it and was about to type a good old fashioned "Hi" when her brain processed what she was about to do.
"Wait, wait, wait, what am I even doing? I didn't even asked her for her number or anything, I don't have her permission to send her anything at all, do I? Ugh... Calm down Yuri, you just made friends with her today, don't start getting so desperate now, she'll give you her number or something eventually if you don't ruin this, perhaps you could even ask her for it you coward! Well if anything it's most likely she'd give it to me for some magical reason someday... Okay now chill and put down your phone..."
Yuri did so and closed her eyes letting out a big sigh as she went back to looking back on today's events. She was not successful however, as a feeling mixed of anxiety and curiosity was kicking every corner of her mind, she wondered what'd Natsuki be doing right now, what'd she think or say if she had the courage to send that "Hi", would she think she's weird? Or perhaps she simply wouldn't mind? Yuri's odd feeling of something like confidence came back and she immediately unlocked her phone again finding herself again with Natsuki's chat opened just as she left it before finishing writing that gool old "Hi", she began to type before that odd confidence like feeling left her again and pressed the send button. A seconds that felt like an eternity for Yuri passed as she just kept looking at the screen and text she had just sent, almost regretting what she had done now, she saw the check marks indicating the person had received the message, now all that was left was for Natsuki to see it. A few minutes passed still feeling like ages for Yuri and no sign of her friends seeing her text, the regret she felt grew up as she convinced herself she had just fucked up everything, that familiar bitter taste made her away across Yuri's throat as anxiety kept flying across her mind. She got up leaving the small book box on her desk and opened a drawer that contained a black metal box adorned with fancy patterns engraved around it; that same box was opened as well revealing a collection of beautiful knives of different shapes, sizes that would catch any collector's attention immediately, Yuri picked one among the beautifully crafted knives and ran her finger across the blade getting mentally ready for what was coming next.
A generic notification sound almost echoed throughout the house, startling Yuri almost making her drop the blade she was holding. Yuri left the knife on her desk and ran to her bed unlocking the phone as she grabbed it. The same feeling Yuri felt when she thought of all the good things Natsuki gave her today made its comeback once again as she laid on her bed as she read and typed.

The shy bookworm lost track of time at this point, she spent the rest of the evening texting her pink haired friend forgetting all the worries she had just minutes ago, a big smile across her face the entire time until both girls agreed it was time to go to bed, as it was Monday after all and tomorrow would be a brand new day.
Yuri completely forgot about the knife on her desk that night as she fell asleep while she re-read the conversation she just had with the pink tsundere.
