Chocolates

As Yuri and Omiko's inner battle continued, Valentine's day was right around the corner.

Ryona and Erika both had the same idea. They saw the upcoming date as the perfect chance to let the girl with peach colored hair and shiny blue eyes know their feelings.

As the tradition dictated, they would be giving her Valentine chocolates and they wanted to make them special of course.

"Monika", Erika said approaching the brunnete who was apparently, doing something in her notebook as usual. "What can I do for you, Eri?", Monika asked with a smile while she closed her notes. "Are you free this weekend?", Erika asked. "Oh my, are you asking me on a date?", Monika said grinning. "W-What?! No! I mean, I need your help", Erika said embarrassed. "Sayori again?", Monika smiled sweetly. "Yeah, I want to get her chocolates for next week's Valentine's day", Erika said blushing lightly. "Well, you can count on me, see you this Sunday at noon in the cafe near the park okay?", Monika said. "Awesome, thank you", Erika replied with a happy smile.

"Nats", Ryona said as she sat down next to her and Yuri as the couple glanced at her curious. "Sup Ryona", Natsuki said. "I hear you're good at baking sweets and stuff", the dark blue haired girl said looking away shyly. "She is the best", Yuri replied quickly. "You shush. Yeah I know a thing or two", Natsuki said confidently. "Well... Umm, could you, teach me how to m-make chocolates?", Ryona said nervously. "Ah, Sayori", Natsuki said. The delinquent girl didn't reply but it was clear that was the case. "Alright, come over this weekend and I'll turn you into a master baker", Natsuki said grinning. "Thanks, when would be okay?", Ryona asked. "Sunday around noon, come to Yuri's house. Oh, right, is that okay babe? Your house has better equipment for this activity", Natsuki said placing a hand on Yuri's knee. "S-Sure, I do not mind", Yuri smiled. "Great, then it's settled, I'll text you the address later", Natsuki said to Ryona.

Monika helped Erika with picking the best chocolates she could think for Sayori, helping her with the wrapping and other details.

Natsuki gave Ryona and intense lesson of how to make chocolates while Yuri watched her adorable girlfriend ordering around the toughest girl in their school, who by the way, was putting a lot of effort in her present for Sayori.

Finally, Valentine's day came.

Erika and Ryona both packed their heart shaped box filled with chocolates in their bags and felt how the day was passing with the speed of a turtle.

Neither of them were planning on attending the club that day as both had the exact same idea.

"Hey Sayori, Ryona told me she wants to see you at the back of the school right now, right under that old cherry tree", Natsuki said after tapping Sayori's shoulder who was talking to Monika. "Oh! Erika told Monika to tell me that too, I guess they must need help with something! I'd better hurry up then, I'll be right back guys!", Sayori said as she rushed out of the classroom before Natsuki or Monika could say anything.

"Shit", Natsuki said. "It'll be okay", Monika replied. "Why are you so sure?", the pinkette asked crossing her arms. "I just have a good feeling I guess", Monika shrugged and went back to her usual notebook, whatever she was doing there.

As soon as Ryona heard the bell ring, she rushed to the back of the school even though she knew she still had some time.

The sight she caught while she approached under the old cherry tree was not exactly the one she was waiting for, and yet, she wasn't surprised.

"Hey", Ryona said as she leaned against the tree next to the twintailed girl who had already arrived there. "Guess we got the same idea", Erika sighed. "Yeah, it seems", Ryona crossed her arms. "Are you not going to try to intimidate me or something?", The twintailed girl asked. "No. You and I are in the same battle, and even though we're opponents, I knew something like this could happen at some point anyway. Besides, I never play dirty in a fight", the dark blue haired girl said. "You're not as bad as they say. But yeah, we both have been doing our part to win this", Erika replied. "May the best woman win", Ryona stepped up and offered a handshake to her rival. "May the best woman win", Erika replied shaking the tough girl's hand.

A little bit after their sportsmanship like display, Erika decided to speak again. "Ryona", the black haired girl said. "What's up?", the loose ponytail girl asked. "I've been wondering... What happened to Omiko?", Erika said. "What do you mean?", Ryona asked confused. "Before the winter break, she was in the same battle we are, I couldn't help but notice how ever since we returned to school she's been acting... weird", the twintailed girl said. "Weird? I thought she just gave up", Ryona asked again. "It could be, but it's still strange, do you think something may have happened between her and Sayori during the break?", Erika asked concerned. "Dunno, that's none of our business though. Besides if she's not in contention anymore, isn't that better for us?", Ryona said rubbing her cheek. "Maybe you're right, but why suddenly switching to Natsuki, I mean you have noticed, haven't you?", Erika asked. "Yeah I have, I can't deny that certainly is weird", the tough girl said concerned.

Before they could continue their conversation, they heard a loud and very familiar voice in the distance.

"Guuuuys!", Sayori said while she ran towards the two girls who welcomed her with a sweet smile. "So, how can I help you?", Sayori said bouncing with her hands behind her back.

Erika and Ryona looked at each other. The delinquent girl gave her a nod that said 'You go first' and stepped back for a moment, crossing her arms eyes closed.

"Sayori, please accept this. These are my true feelings for you", Erika said handing the heart shaped box with a black ribbon around it. "Oh! Valentine's day right! Friendship chocolates then?", Sayori said excitedly taking the box. "Eh? No! I-I mean, these are... Ummm love chocolates", Erika said shyly. "L-Love choco...", Sayori muttered as she started to blush. "Sayori, please hear me out. I love you. You came to me when I most needed someone, you fill my life and everyone else's with joy, you're wonderful. I want to be there for you, I want to be the one you think about when you need someone, I want to be the one you call your special someone. Please, would you go out with me?", Erika confessed and before the surprised Sayori could say anything she added. "I will be waiting for you at the school gate, and please know that whatever happens, nothing has to change between us", the twintailed girl said and quickly stormed out of the scene leaving Sayori staring lost in thought at the heart shaped box in her hands.

Ryona now walked towards Sayori placing a hand on her shoulder to break her from her trance. "Hey", the tough girl said sweetly. "Ry...", Sayori said looking up at the taller girl. "I'm sorry we are troubling you like this. Please accept these. My honest feelings for you, love chocolates", Ryona said handing the heart shaped box with a navy blue ribbon around it to Sayori. "Ry...", Sayori said again. "Just listen to me okay? Sayori, ever since we met, you never judge me and accepted me for who I am. You welcomed me to your life. You gave my life a real meaning. Up until now I've been a loose cannon just getting in trouble, trying to find a path I can walk. You're now that path. I want to be the one you rely on, the one whose shoulder you can grab onto when you need to. You're amazing and beautiful. You're strong. You bring happiness to this cold and dark world. You're the light that brightens my day. And no matter how strong you are, I want to protect you anyway, you're precious to me and deserve only the best. I have never felt like this before and I never really wondered how it felt like but now I can certainly say this anyway. I love you. Would you please go out with me?", Ryona too finished her confession while Sayori stared at her with sparkly blue eyes and then, the tough girl began to walk away after saying one more thing. "I will be waiting for you at the school roof. Remember whatever you choose, there will be no hard feelings, I promise, this is something we accepted and are willing to fulfill". And with that the delinquent girl left the scene.

Sayori couldn't believe what was happening. She sat down, leaning her back against the cherry tree and opened both of the heart shaped boxes. The girl with the hair the color of a peach then started eating the chocolates, one of each box every time until she was done.

To Sayori, they both tasted sweet and gave her a pleasant feeling everytime she took a bite. She enjoyed every one of them and really wished she could have more of both always, but despite that, one set of chocolates had a sweeter taste, one that she craved for more than the other.

As oblivious as she was, or rather, seemed, Sayori couldn't deny that warm feeling everytime they spent time together. However, she always believed she was not deserving of feeling like that, and no one could or would return her feelings anyway.

The rainclouds as she called them, would always be there to stop her from getting ahead of herself. But now, the rainclouds had to deal with their mistake, because Sayori now knew her feelings were returned first hand.

The girl that always brings joy to the literature club got up, shook some dust off her skirt and with a warm smile she started to walk towards her destiny, towards the one that could be stronger than the rainclouds inside her head.
