David's POV
I was now getting ready for church. I ate some breakfast, which consisted of pancakes, with syrup, and a glass of milk. I was dressed in my Sunday finest. A brown suit, brown dress pants, and brown dress shoes, with a red necktie. I called an Uber to take me to Beachside Church Of Christ, where I attended church every Sunday. I stepped outside, and was greeted by a warm, humid feel.
My Uber driver arrived, and took me to the church. I arrived at the church, and got out. It was a brick church, with a steeple, and the people were entering. I went inside and sat down. It was rather humid inside, and the air conditioner wasn't turned on. In fact, it was out of order. I dreaded having to sit through church service, sweating in my suit.
Pastor Victor Bell was doing his sermons. We all sang songs like Amazing Grace. Sweat trickled down my neck, and some of the church people were waving fans to keep them cool.
Church was now over, and I took Uber back home. Once I got home, I changed out of church clothes, and put on a white shirt, and brown shorts. The weather outside, had a summer like feel to it, which was not very April like. It felt more like June. It was supposed to reach 88 degrees today, with a chance for a thunderstorm later this afternoon.
Right when I was about to go outside, the phone rang. Thinking it was one of my friends, I picked up the phone. "Hello?"
"David, this is your mother."
"Hi, Mom," I said. "How are you?"
"Not good," said my mother, her voice cracking.
"What's wrong, Mom?" I asked. "Is everything okay?"
My mother broke down on the phone. She could hardly speak, cause she was crying, uncontrollably.
"Mom, tell me what's wrong? Why are you crying? Did you watch a sad movie?"
"No, the hospital just called," she said, through choked sobs.
"Hospital?" I said, fearing the worst.
"Grandma died, baby! She didn't make it!"
Hearing those words, my whole world went dark. "No! She couldn't have died!" I yelled, as tears started falling down my face!"
"Baby, the doctors have did all they could!" sobbed my mother.
"Mom, I am gonna miss her!" I sobbed, hysterically.
"Me too, baby! Me too!"
A/N Hey, guys! This was a sad chapter to write! I didn't cry, but it really tore me up inside, that David's mother was crying! He lost her grandmother, and she was his mother's mom. The next chapter will be about David's friends trying to console him. And at some point, David will be going to Georgia to attend his grandmother's funeral. Keep David and his family in your prayers! 💔😭 Don't be a silent reader. Please show some love and support by voting, leaving feedback, and sharing this book with others. Thanks, babes!
