Autumn P.O.V.

“Ok, kiddo get in the wheelchair.” my dad said rolling the wheelchair over to the side of my bed. I just got finished getting dressed with my mom. Yeah, that doesn’t sound weird at all huh? I didn’t want the nurse to help dress me so I asked my mom to help me insisted. But before I got my close on I had a check up and they said I was all good to go home. I just needed to be very careful.

“Dad I don’t need a wheel chair. I can walk.” I said and slowly sliding off the bed onto my feet and then taking baby sets to the door. “See?”

“I know you can walk but can you at least let us wheel you out in the wheelchair? It’ll be fun.” he said trying to convince me but it wasn’t going to work.

“Dad only a six year old would think a wheelchair is fun.” India said.

“Hey I think it’s pretty fun.” Seth commented.

“That just proves how old you are.” India said as she walked over to me and gently grabbed onto my hand. “I’ll help her get downstairs and into the car.” she said.

“I think I should do that.” a new voice came from the door and it was Nathan. Oh my god how can I face him after he kissed me on my cheek and said that we were still going to talk about my feeling. I didn’t want to be in a car alone with him. “Oh, yeah India, Kassie want you to call her.” he added before India let go of my arm and Nathan came to my side. I wasn’t surprised that India was making kissing noises behind us as we lelt.

“Come on Cupcake your getting into my car.” Nathan said as we stepped out the elevator with Seth and India behind us. My mom and dad got a head start home saying they needed to pick something up.

“But Seth and….” but I was cut short by India.

“Autumn just go with him. You can’t shut down a face like his. Just look how cute he is.” she said smiling at me. I can’t believe she just said that.

“India stop embarrassing her we all know her little secret you don’t have to rub it in her face.” Seth said smiling at me when he said ‘her little secret’. “Now just go with Nathan. He won’t bite.” Seth said before grabbing onto India’s hand and tugging her to his car. ‘What ever you do Autumn don’t look Nathan in the eyes.’ I said to myself as he smiled and helped me over to his car.

He unlocked the doors and helped me into the passenger seat. I told him that I was going to sit in the back but he just told me to get in the front seat and so I did. I was about to buckle my seatbelt myself but Nathan beat me to it by grabbing the buckle and reaching over me. “I could’ve did that myself you know.” but he didn’t answer, he just smiled at me and kissed my cheek. “Your too cute.”

Ok, now I’m convinced that there is something really wrong with him. He’s always a gentleman with me but he would avoid any skin contact with me and he never use to say things like that to me. Is he doing all this because he feels sorry for me. Or he knows that I like him more as a friend. Because before all this happened he would avoid touching me what‘s so ever, so why is he doing all this now. I didn’t notice Nathan was calling me until his hand was onto of mine. I felt all tingly inside and quickly took my hand away from his.

“W…what?” I asked. Looking at him but looked out the window again.

“ Why are you so jumpy?”

“I’m not jumpy”

“So why did you just move your hand away from me like that.?” he asked with a smile on his face. Ok now he was just teasing me.

“No, reason.” lie!

“Is there something your hiding from me?” he asked as we came to a red light.

“No” Another lie!

“You know it’s not good to lie to your best friend? Or to at least try to lie to your best friend.”

“But I’m not lying.” don’t I ever get tired of lying.

“So why are you nervous?”

“I’m not nervous.”

“So why are you playing with hands?”

I didn’t notice I was playing with my hand until he mentioned it. “Oh” I said and looked down and away from him. He knew me to well.

“So what’s on your mind?”

“Nothing” I really need to stop lying.

“What did I say about lying to me?”

“Sorry.” I muttered.

“So what’s been on your mind. It looked like you were thinking really hard a few minutes ago.” the light turned green.

How do I tell him. ‘Oh I was just thinking about you and the way that I’, obsessed about you.’ I would just look stupid saying that. And before he could push me to answer him my house came into view and I slimed. “Look I’m home.” I said once the car stopped I unblocked my seat belt and quickly opened my door. I slammed it closed behind me and tried limping on one foot to the front door.

I was limping to fast so pain shoot up the right side of my body where I broke my ribs. I started to fall back since I couldn’t stand anymore but I never hit the ground. I fell into Nathans arms. He boosted me back up so that I was standing but he made me wrap my arm around his neck. He help me the rest of the way to the door and it was open.

I walked in and on the couch sat India and Kassie. Seth had to be somewhere near and my parent weren’t home yet. Once we walked into the door they looked at us and then at each other. They shared a look that looked like they we’re up to something and trust me I don’t wanna know what they’re thinking about.

Kassie got up from the couch an came over to me. “I hope your feeling better Autumn.” she said than hugged me. “And I hope my brother here have been treating you right.” she said looking passed me and straight at Nathan. I didn’t want to see his expression to what she said so I just gave her a quick reasponce.

“Thank you.”

She leaned in for another hug and then put her mouth close to my ear. “If he ever does anything to you, you nowhere to find me.” What did she mean like that before I could ask her she skipped over to the couch and started talking to India again. I guess I’ll ask her later.

Later my parent came home with ice cream cake. We ate cake and talked but I knew that eventually that this question would pop-up. I had to tell them weather I wanted to or not. I think they were giving me time to tell them with out asking.

“So how did it happen?” My dad asked and every ones eyes were on me. I hate being the center of attention.

I knew exactly what he was talking about but I just didn’t wanna answer. I started playing with my fingers to by time but soon a hand covered them and they were Nathan’s hands. ’Note to self: Stop playing with finger. Especially around Nathan!’.

Well I guess the quicker I get this out the less painful thinking about the memory would be. “Well I went to the park and started walking down the path that went into the woods. You know the path that all the joggers and bikers would use?” I paused and looked down again I didn’t want to see their reaction after this part.

“I thought It was weird for barely no one to be out on a Saturday morning but I really didn’t pay to much attention to it. I wasn’t paying attention to how deep I was into the woods until the path faded. So I turned back.” pause. “When I turned back, Kendal was there.”

“He told me that he was here to make some permanent scars. He said he knew he wasn’t suppose to be there then he said that I couldn’t blame him for ‘checking up on his favorite girl.’” “He said That I could of liked it. But then I turned him down and told him I have a mate to find & I would never let it happen again.” “After that I walked away then he said he was sorry for what he was about to do to me. He started coming after me and said ’IfheI can’t have me, no one can. ‘

I stopped but no one said anything so I continued from where I felted off. “I tried running away but he caught up to me and punched me in the side of my head, then I fell to the ground. I think when I fell I twisted my ankle. He kicked me in the side five times.” I said pointing to the side of my stomach that was wrapped in gauze. “He told me we could have been happy together, and then he said he can’t believe I felt him for Nathan. He told me that he could give me more then Nathan can.” I wanted to look up at Nathans face to see his reaction to this but just couldn’t. I felt tears building up in my eyes, but refused to let them escape.

“He punched me in the gut and then started hitting me in my face. I tried to tell him to stop but he didn’t. He told me that he was going to end my nightmare and then I felt a sharp pain in the side of my head then I blacked out. End of story.” I said once I was done and wiped some tears from my eyes. “ I think he was aiming to kill me.” I felt arms wrap around me and pulled me close to them. I knew instantly who it was because only one person was sitting next to me.

“Well one thing is for sure, he’s dying.” My dad said. “Damn, straight. He’s dying.” Seth added.

“The question is when?” India said from the recliner she was sharing with Kassie.

“That’s a good question. But it’s going to be as soon as possible.” My mom said and she looked mad as hell. “No, one does that to my baby and get’s away with it.”

I love my family. I love how they are really to kill someone with out any second thoughts. A tear came down my eye again but not that I was sad, it was because I was happy.

“I think we should work out the details later. Maybe like tomorrow? We’re making her cry. It's he birthday, she should be happy.” Kassie said pointing to me but it looked like there was more behind the look she gave me.

“Yeah, we should do that. Now let’s all watch a movie to get our minds away from the situation until morning.” India said grabbing the remote and the flipping throw the channel until she got to Movies on Demand.

“Well me and your mother are going to ran a few errands, so don’t stay up late.” My father said getting up from where he was sitting and then grabbing onto my moms hand. “Kassie, Nathan, you both can sleepover if you want we won’t mind.” “Just don’t push over the board lines.” he added looking at Nathan and then leaving the room.

When they were gone everyone started laughing expect for Nathan and me. Nathan just had his cocky grin on his face and I was just lost in the moment. “What’s so funny?” I asked. No one answered me they just keep laughing.

“Only if you knew.” Seth said as his laugher died down a bit.

“That’s why I’m asking.” I said but he just shock his head and turned to the T.V.. I turned to India and Kassie. “India what’s so funny.” I asked but she just shock her head to. “Kassie?”

“Sorry Autumn not getting anything out of me either.” and then she turn to the T.V. still giggling with India. I had to go to my last option I had left.

“Nathan can you tell me what they're laughing about. Because I really don’t get why.” I said but he just smiled and looked down at me but India spoke up before he said anything.

“It’s not like he’s going to tell you the ‘insider’.”

“What ‘insider‘?” I asked him but he just keep smiling down at me.

“Don’t worry about it. It’s not important.” he said and I just shrugged and waited until we all decided on a move call ’Finders Keepers’. I don’t think it was long but I fell asleep.

Nathan’s P.O.V.

I wasn’t paying attention to the movie, I was paying attention to my girl that was curled up on the couch with her head resting in my lap. I really didn’t care if I saw the end of this movie, but it looked good. Kassie, India and Seth eyes were glued to the screen, not once looking away.

“Hey, guy I think I’m going to…..”

“Shut up we’re watching a movie.” Kassie snapped.

“But I was just saying that…..”

“Quiet!” India yelled and then her eyes were back on the screen.

“Ok” I whispered and begun lifting Autumn small body into my arms. Making sure not to hurt her. I started for the stairs and slowly climb them. Once we were in front of her room I pushed open the door and turned the lights on.

I made sure to gently place her small fragile body on the bed and then pulled the sheets over. I was debating on If I should sleep in the same bed with her or not but debated against it and grabbed a few pillows and through them on the floor with a sheet.

I closed the lights took off laid down on the floor thinking about how someone could do such a terrible thing to her like this. Kendal was going to pay with his life for what he did and I’m going to much sure that he does.

I didn’t want to be on the floor, I wanted to be close to her and have her body near mine but I’m not taking the chances of her Dad or brother walking into the room and finding me on the same bed as her. Even though they like me and all. I don’t think they wanna see their daughter or sister sleeping with a guy ever. Even if they are mates.

I closed my eyes and keep thinking about her. Her smile, he laugh, he smell, they way she made my heart happy. Nothing more took me to fall asleep dreaming of her.
