MELODY HAD BEEN unpacking her bag for at least four hours because even though she didn't bring a lot, she kept getting sidetracked which was a problem of her's. One minute she would be hanging up some clothes in her closet but then her phone would ding and her feet would carry her to her phone just in case it was an emergency or important. It ended up being only comments on her latest post. Then that's when she saw Rebekah reply. Her eyes went wide and she instantly smiled wide from seeing the blonde reply. When Henry had posted his comment, she had laughed but was secretly blushing.
No more notifications popped up on her phone so she went back to putting her clothes away. She had her Bluetooth earbuds in her ears so she didn't hear when there was a knock on the door. But she did feel a stare and turned around to see a familiar Original. The dress fell out of her hands and she ran towards her.
"Rebekah!" she squealed, embracing her tightly.
Rebekah smiled widely and laughed a bit at her reaction, gladly hugging her back. She smelt the scent of cinnamon and strawberries on the female which made her smile more. "Hey, Mel." They pulled back and were still grinning. "It has certainly been a moment."
Melody nodded in agreement, still clinging onto her arms. "It certainly has. Too long of a moment if I am being entirely honest." Her accent flowed through her words and the blonde blushed quickly but thankfully she was given another hug. A sigh of relief escaped her. Because that would've been awkward to explain. How could she tell the fairytale woman that she thought her accent was the most gorgeous thing she has ever heard and how it sounded like silk? Oh, that's right, she couldn't.
They pulled back again and Rebekah's blush was gone. She dropped her hands from Melody with much difficulty though it looked as if there wasn't a hint of a struggle. "It's great to see you again."
She gave her a playful look, dropping her hands as well. "Aw come on Rebekah, say it." She tapped her shoulder with a wink. "You missed me." Then she moved back to her suitcase and continued to unpack.
Rebekah rolled her eyes playfully at her words. "Maybe I did. Maybe I didn't." Her eyes caught on the brunette's undergarments and instantly looked away, blushing again. Yet again, Melody didn't see it because she was too busy hanging up the dress she dropped on the floor. "So um, how are you? How are things in StoryBrooke?"
"Quiet if you can believe it," Melody replied with a little laugh, amused by her own words because they just sounded ridiculous. When was her hometown ever truly quiet? "Everyone is waiting for the next villain to show up so something can happen. Until then, things are pretty chill. How are things here?"
What sounded like a sigh escaped Rebekah as she sat down on the foot of the bed, looking over at her. "Quiet as well." Melody turned to grab another dress and arched an eyebrow, not looking convinced at all. "I'm being honest. Ever since we put Tristan into the ocean and put Aurora under that sleeping spell, nothing has happened. Lucien hasn't been seen since."
"It's ironic really." She hung up another dress that was a burgundy shade that was lace. "You lot place a girl named Aurora under a sleeping spell even though she has no relation to the Aurora I know? Sounds like fate is laughing in our faces." Her best friend seemed to agree, nodding her head. Melody sighed as well, her body turning back to face her. "But how are you? Any new guys catch your eye?"
Rebekah cracked a smile at the irony of her statement. "No. And if you are referring to Marcel, he and I haven't become anything serious and never will. I don't like him anymore."
Melody stopped her action, raising an eyebrow again at her. "Oh? Why the sudden change of heart?"
"I don't know," she replied. Lie. And the thing was that they both knew it. Neither of them said anything of it. "I just don't." Her words hung in the air, Rebekah looking away from her while the latter stared, trying to understand why she was being lied to. While she hated it, this was her best friend. And if she didn't feel ready to tell her, she decided not to push her into opening up.
The fairytale woman cleared her throat and ran her hand over the navy blue dress she was holding, her eyes falling to the fabric as she figured out what to say. "Right. Well, I am sure you will find someone else."
Rebekah just nodded her head, pushing her hair behind her ear. "How about you? Anyone special."
Melody lied smoothly. "No." Yes, it was a lie. But she wasn't ready to relive her last relationship and how it ended. They had been over for months and she still wasn't over it. Because she was upset that still, after all this time, she couldn't find her true love. It was torturous watching her family be happy while she simply stood in the background.
The Original caught that too. "I guess we are both in the same boat then."
"Yeah, we are, aren't we?" Melody whispered, sitting next to her when she finished with the first suitcase. A sigh passed through her lips again. "We are both single pringles."
Rebekah laughed softly, nodding again. "Yes, we are." She looked over at the brunette and smiled gently, just admiring the way her eyes held her emotions. Melody turned her head to look over at her, her lips quirking up into a smile. Now if it was anyone else, they wouldn't have caught the desperation or longing in the fairytale woman's eyes.
Unless you happen to be Rebekah Mikaelson who saw it clear as a blue sky without clouds.
