Chapter Twenty-Six: Snape's Worries
A/n: Thank you to the many people reading this fanfic! ❤️
Madam Hooch immediately attended to Harry when the bludger hit Harry which caused him to faint on the ground. As much as the Slytherin Team wanted to rejoice in their win against the Ravenclaw Team, they could not help but be worried about their seeker since he was hit so violently on his arm. They don't even know as no one saw who even used the bludger to hit Harry.
"Is he going to be okay, ma'am?" Captain Alwyna asked her. "I can bring him to the hospital wing since I'm the captain of the team."
"Yes, I believe you should bring your seeker to Madam Pomfrey today," Madam Hooch told him after she caught the bludger and locked it back in the box. "You're the captain of your team, am I right? The responsibility falls on you."
"You don't need to do that for me, Alwyna," interrupted Snape as he carried Harry in his arms. "I'd be bringing him there. Tell me who did this Harry and I want him punished!"
"It's not totally against the game to use the bludger but it's not supposed to be used to harm an opponent," Madam Hooch said to him. "You need to be careful on holding him as he might have broken his arm."
"Have you seen who struck the bludger in the direction of Harry?" Snape asked her while Harry was asleep in his arms. "Whoever it was, I want that player to be punished!"
"No, I didn't see who it was but it's possible that someone in the audience could have," Hooch answered him. "We will quickly do an investigation about this and I will make sure to know who did this and give him the right punishment! Quidditch needs to be played fair and dirty tactics aren't allowed."
"Make sure he gets punished well for hurting my son!" Snape uttered loudly. "I allowed Harry to play the game but I want it played fairly! I would want whoever did this to be suspended!"
Thorin had immediate chills down his spine and he wished that Snape won't know that it was him who placed the bludger in Harry's direction. Even so, he promised to himself that if he got caught in the interrogation, he'd honestly confess the truth. He didn't want to beat Harry since he was now well known to be Snape's son in Hogwarts but he was forced by John Mccray.
A lot of students knew him as a very serious man but they didn't know that he'd be more frightening when it came to Harry since he's too overprotective of him. The only person who doesn't seem to experience how scary he was is Harry, after all. Harry's someone that many people can't just cross because of his guardian.
Soon, he and the other Quidditch players watched the potion master carry the young boy out of the pitch to get him some medical attention in the castle.
Meanwhile, Ron, Hermione, Dudley, and Neville were also surprised by Snape's reaction after they all saw how Harry got hurt on the pitch.
"He'll be fine, right?" Dudley mumbled. "I can't believe that he'll be hurt today."
"Don't worry, Dudley," assured Hermione. "Your cousin's strong enough. He'll be able to play the game again, soon."
...
Severus Snape never wanted Harry to even play the sport as it reminded him of Harry's biological father, James, but as his guardian, he didn't want him to feel oppressed just because of the past. He had experienced so much agony in his childhood and he didn't want the young child in his custody to ever feel that way, too. He wanted Harry to know that he's loved and cared for by a lot of people around him. It was also why he had accepted to be his guardian since he can't imagine what kind of life he could have had if Professor Dumbledore gave him to the Dursleys. He remembered that Vernon Dursley even abandoned his child when he realized that Dudley was gifted with magic. The thought of him ever holding Harry made him so infuriated already.
Madam Pomfrey smiled after she was done concocting Harry's healing potion that night. She could hear the boy moaning in pain. "The potion's ready. Is he awake now?"
Severus stepped closer to him when he saw that Harry had opened his eyes while he was still lying on the bed. "I'm glad that you're awake now. I was totally afraid of what could have happened to you."
"I'm fine, dad!" Harry sat on the bed. "Where am I?"
"You're in the hospital wing," Snape told him. "How are you? Do you feel any pain right now?"
"We won, dad? We won, right?" Quidditch was the very first thing he asked him. Harry didn't even notice that his arm was in a cast. "We won the game, right?"
Snape breathed deeply and sighed in relief after seeing that Harry was fine but it was still obvious that his arm looked broken due to the impact of the bludger. "Yes, Harry. The Slytherin team won the competition today."
"We're not yet champions, though," Harry sighed. "Gryffindor won against Hufflepuff this morning and a few weeks from now, we would be fighting them in the finals but here I am..."
"It's alright, Harry," Madam Pomfrey helped him drink his bitter potion. "Leona can go back to her old role and someone else can be another chaser in the game."
"Does that mean that it's not possible that I can play in the finals?" Harry asked them. "Dad, I want to play in the finals! I can't just watch them on the bench and see my teammates play!"
"Recovering from a broken bone is a difficult process," Snape reminded him. "Play in the finals and you won't ever be able to play Quidditch ever again. Do you want that to happen to you? Even athletes like you needed to rest when you get hurt!"
Harry began crying at that time and for the very first time in his life again, he acted like a small child. He was bawling and had released his tantrums in the hospital wing which made Snape sigh in annoyance. It finally made Snape remember that the chosen one in front of him was still a little child. Sometimes, taking care of a kid was truly more difficult than fighting a death eater.
"What do I do with you, Harry?" Snape exhaled heavily. "It's impossible for the bone to heal immediately no matter how much potion or spell we give you."
"Just let him cry his heart out, Severus. He's just a child," Madam Pomfrey mumbled to Snape. "I'll take care of him here, okay? Don't worry too much about him."
Snape breathed in deeply. "Thank you, Madam Pomfrey. I'm leaving him to your care."
