Harry Potter was walking to and fro silently in the common room while thinking about his guardian's reaction one week since Charlie Weasley arrived and came to Hogwarts School of Magic to visit his brothers and talk to Professor Albus Dumbledore. He was still very much surprised and shocked when Severus Snape screamed at the gray dragon after saying that he shouldn't trust anyone, even those closest to him. He didn't know what the dragon wanted to tell him but he's sure that his guardian felt triggered and angry.

"Are you alright?" Draco asked him. "I heard what happened days ago."

"Should I go to my guardian and ask him why he reacted way too much in front of a talking dragon?" Harry asked him. "It's Saturday, anyway. There's no classes."

Draco nodded. "It's between you and Professor Snape. Why not ask why he acted that way, right?"

Harry sat on the couch again and as much as he really want to ask Snape about it, he's also afraid to hear his reasons as it might place some kind of scar in their relationship and he didn't want that to happen. "By the way he acted, I feel like my guardian has secrets and he didn't want me to know them yet."

"Make him tell you about those secrets, Harry," Draco replied but then, at the time he sat next to him and he's in front of the fireplace, he asked him, "Are you ready to hear those secrets even if it might hurt you?"

"What do you mean, Draco? I don't even know if I really want to go and ask questions to him," Harry told him. "He was the one who raised me, and he accepted my cousin despite being a Muggle-born! Do you think that asking him would be the best choice?"

"No, but it's better to hear it from him rather than someone else. My father was arrested and sent to Azkaban when I was very little. He's a Death Eater. My mother never told me that he was a Death Eater until I heard it from one of my relatives who visited us when I was five years old. It hurt me a lot when I discovered the truth. Truth feels better rather than live in a lie."

"My guardian can't be a Death Eater!" Harry said while tears fall down his eyes. "He's not, right?"

"Whatever his secret is, Harry, wasn't he still your father who kept you safe?" Draco smiled. "My mom is still my mom and she may have kept the truth about my dad before but I had already accepted the painful truth. They're not at fault. My mom told me to make sure that I don't join the bad folk!"

Harry nodded. "Thank you, Draco. I guess I really should ask dad about his secrets."

...

Harry went to Severus Snape's office after he and Draco were done answering their assignments, especially their assignment to brew calming potions. He also brewed one for himself as he knew that he needed it after talking to his guardian. The office was a gloomy and dimly-lit room found in the school dungeons. The shadowy walls of Snape's office were lined with shelves of large glass jars filled with slimy, revolting things, such as bits of animals and plants, floating in potions of varying colours

Harry just went alone that afternoon after his Quidditch Practice to talk to him and for the first time, he felt scared. "Dad? Can I talk to you?"

"Why are you here in my office, Harry?" Severus asked him. "Are you here to ask me if you have done well on brewing that calming potion?"

"Dad...? I-I-I want to ask you..." Heavy and painful tears began to cascade below Harry's cheeks as he tried to make words distinguishable. "Dad! Do you have any secrets hiding from me? Tell me! Please, tell me. I beg you. You acted so strangely in front of the dragon that said that I can't trust just anyone near me! Can I trust you, dad?"

Severus Snape rose from his seat in surprise. Harry had never asked him if he had hidden secrets and to see him asking about the truths he hid and didn't want to tell him while he was eleven years old hurt him a lot. "Why would you ask if I had hidden secrets from you, son? Is it because of what Charlie's dragon said? You shouldn't think too much of what that mere dragon told you!"

"What if it was because of that? Dad! I can't keep doubting you ever since that day! It was your reaction that made me think you're probably hiding something from me!" Harry cried. "Shouldn't you tell me why you acted strange a week ago? Dad, why did you pull me out after I cried in front of the gray dragon?"

Severus didn't want to talk more and spill all of his secrets even if Harry had began asking questions about the truth. He wanted to keep Harry safe and sound no matter what for her sake but that one event seemed to have made him doubt his actions. Most of all, he didn't care if his fellow Death Eaters called him a traitor since he's taking care of Lily's son but now that's he's asking, he didn't know if he should reveal that he was the reason why his parents passed away. "Are you really sure that you want to know my secret? I don't want to tell you since you're not ready yet."

Harry stepped back and held his robes tight. "Dad, I am afraid but if you don't answer, I will just keep thinking about what the dragon said to me."

"It's true that I had kept a secret from you, and since it's impossible to hide it, I believe that I have to say it now." Severus slowly pulled his sleeves up and showed him his Death Mark. It was a snake with a skull on top. "Son, I am once a Death Eater. Ever since I had you, I chose to stay as a wizard in the Order of the Phoenix."

Harry was taken aback and he almost wanted to collapse on the floor but his guardian held him up. "You were a follower of that man? How can you be a man that was the cause of my scar???"

"Harry, that's not important to me! You are important to me! I can give you a lot of excuses but it's been a long time that I had left that organization as I want to take care of you!"

Snape slowly saw Harry shake in fear in front of him and he saw him walking backwards away from him. He tried his best to calm down as Harry's current reaction reminded him when Lily decided to cut ties with him. He began to see her getting closer to James, the father of Harry Potter. He didn't want the baby who had fallen into his arms after James and Lily passed away to also leave him alone. "Trust me, Harry. I love you as I love your mother. There's no way that I will betray you."

Harry was still crying but he managed to reply. "Did you really leave You-Know-Who, and you would truly go against the man who killed my biological parents? I still remember what happened vividly when I was baby."

Severus Snape hugged him tight. "Use me as your shield and armor, Harry! It is my duty as your guardian to protect you!"

Harry was still crying on his arms when his office doors opened. Hagrid was outside and at the time he had entered, he just told Snape fast, "Fluffy's placed underground already. He'll be able to protect the red stone from—"

Snape gave him a stern look while he made Harry to sit on the brown couch that was right near his office table. "Let's talk later, Hagrid. Harry's here."

"S'rry, Snape," he told him. "Didn't immediately see 'Arry."
