May 4rth 2020 Today I and Jennifer are going out to the Mississippi River if it even exists anymore I assume it is but the meteor shower that hit earth was so large even the river could have been destroyed. As we were walking We noticed we were in an old park well what was left of it at least. There-was a giant crater of were an a meteor hit in the middle of the park "woe it looks like there was An explosion happened here" Jennifer said with amazement on her face "you act like you've never been here" I said with curiosity " I haven't well not that I remember anyways" Jennifer said. We continued on walking "Hey how old are you Exactly" I asked "I'm nineteen why" she said in a calm voice "oh well you said-you were born as a Cannibal so that would mean you would have to be younger" I explained "oh well I was actually born in 2001 but my parents turned Cannibal when we ran out of food but I refused to eat it so I ran away and found another group of survivors" She explained. After a while of walking, we found the river It was large and one of the only sources of freshwater left in America. We found a place to sitdown and enjoy the view " wow it sure-is beautiful out here" she said with a smile on her face she then turned and looked at me and I had noticed something her eyes were so beautiful. I had noticed that over the years I've started to slowly fall in love with her and-her with me "Wow I agree it is beautiful out here" I said still looking into her eyes her smile grew larger "I love you timothy" she said with happiness " I love you to Jennifer" I said with joy. We both just sat there talking and laughing for two hours before We got up to start heading home. As we were walking home I noticed it was starting to get dark "We should probably hurry home it's getting dark and I really don't want to find out what monstrosities lark in the dark" I said cautiously "yah you don't want to know let's get moving a little faster" she said in a shaky voice. We started moving faster and by the time we got home it was pitch black we hurried inside and went off to bed. As we were laying in bed I started to wonder about what she had meant When she said you don't want to know. I then gently turned and put my arm over Jennifer to get comfortable and slowly drifted off asleep. The next morning I was awoken by Jennifer bringing in two plates of eggs and bacon. She sat down besides me "good morning I made some breakfast" she said smiling "thanks I'm actually quite hungry" I said while yawning. As we were eating We heard a loud bang. I Jumped up and rand to-the bunker door and out into the open. I then saw Cross and David standing looking down at some thing. I quickly walked over to them quickly. The closer I got the more the object looked like a pig. When I finally made it-to where they were standing I noticed that it was a very large bore. The bore was as large as a car and as meaty as an elephant. We called jake out-he brought his butcher knife and began to cut the stomach open. He then reached his hand inside and pulled the guts and organs out. I nearly puked as the blood came pouring out. He took-the meat to-the freezer and hung it up to let the blood leak out.

1 Month later. Today I and David started building houses out in the field so we didn't have to live in the bunker anymore we started on me and Jennifer's House. We knew it would take a while before We finished because we had to cut the trees down and turn The logs into plywood. After a long day of building, I headed back to-the bunker. I went to my room Jennifer was already in bed sleeping. So I got in bed carefully and put my arm over her. The next morning I headed off to where a jewelry store used to be to-see if I could find any rings. There-was a lot of ash as I was looking I seen a little Glare in the ash. I made My way towards it and found that it was a diamond engagement ring Exactly what I was looking for. I picked it up and put in a small ring box that My older sister had given me. I carefully put in my pocket and started heading towards the bunker. When I got there I grabbed a table and a few lawn chairs to set up outside for me and Jennifer to eat. I had made some of the boar meat that we had got when David had shot it in the head and some rice we collected from an abandoned grocery store. As We where eating I got up and got on one knee and pulled out the ring " Jennifer will you marry me" she smiled with joy "yes!!" she said starting to cry with the happiness. Then got up and hugged me. The apocalypse was bad but being with Jennifer made it feel almost normal I couldn't live without her and so I proposed.

2 Weeks later may 18th 2020

The blistering sun was high Above us the winter was starting and instead of being cold it was hot very hot. I looked over to-see David working just as hard as me he wiped the sweat off his forehead then got back to work. I also noticed Cross and Jennifer walking back from their Expedition for water Cross was carrying two buckets full of water. I gave them a curious look not knowing where they found it. I casually walked towards them and asked them where they had found it "Oh well We found a small abandoned Well that still works just south of here" Jennifer answered with the same smile I had fallen in love with. I smiled back and gently reached in for a kiss she met me halfway. We then took-the water to the bunker to boil that way We wouldn't get sick from any bacteria in the water. We then filled bottles and put them in the fridge. Then I followed Jennifer into our room she sat down on the bed I then sat next to her. I placed my hand over hers and asked if she was alright. She started to cry " yeah it's just ever since this damn apocalypse I haven't Been able to sleep I keep seeing the horrors of what is now our world" I put my arm around her to comfort her and she laid her head on my shoulder. I then laid back and I managed to get her to fall asleep in the process. I then held her as my eyelids become heavy I soon fell into a deep sleep.

I was soon awakened from what sounded like a dog barking. I slowly got up trying not to wake Jennifer. Once I was up I silently opened the iron door of our room then walked quickly outside. The bright sun blinded me as I walked into the worm grassy valley that was earth. When I was able to see again I noticed a small black dog running towards me. Instead of being alarmed I got on one knee to greet the small dog as she put Both paws onto my shoulder and started to lick my face. I laughed a little bit because it had been a while since I had found a creature that didn't want to eat me. I picked the small dog up and brought her inside where I gave Her a small bowl of water. Jennifer stepped into the room silently. She quickly noticed the small black dog " whats Her name" she asked In a tired voice. I turned to look at her " oh um I think I'm going to call her Vern" I said slowly. I had named the small dog after a Friend I knew In middle school. My sister then stepped in and smiled when she saw the dog " It's nice to-see something that doesn't want to eat me " I nodded in agreement it was the friendliest animal I've seen out in the new world.
