It's been two years since I saw the green grass of the world above and everything went quite two years and one month ago. It is now December 23rd, 2017 and I'm now 17 years old. today I get to go above to see the world again I'm only going to find medicine for Jake he got sick and is in the medical room of our bunker. We ran out of medicine 2 months ago. I put on my jacket and walked outside but it was hot instead of cold which was unusual for Iowa in the winter so I took off my jacket and put it back inside. When I started heading out David ran out to join me with his 9mm pistol which didn't really bother me. The first sign of life we saw was a tree it was beautiful due to the fact that we hadn't seen one since we were fifteen and four years doesn't seem like a long time until you're a claustrophobic in an underground capsule for those four years. We ended up finding the school it was old and the color had faded away as if it hasn't been used for a long time. We decided to look through it to see if there was any medicine left in the nurse's office. As we walked in we noticed the entire back half of the school was gone. "I guess the explosion from the meteor destroyed the school," said David with a smirk on his face. luckily the nurse's office was still here. As we were looking through the office I heard the sound of something falling. I grabbed the 9mm pistol and went to check it out. It came from a small room that used to be a math room. It was quite dark in the room almost impossible to see anything. I started to walk away then I heard someone sneeze I turned around quickly and pointed the 9mm pistol at the desk the sound came from. I then walked slowly towards the desk I started to shiver with fear. I looked underneath the desk and what I saw surprised me. It was a person and not only a person but a teenage girl around my age. She was beautiful with brown hair green eyes and some torn clothes on. I slowly lowered the gun and asked what her name was and she said in a sweet voice "Jennifer". "Do you need help?" I asked "Ummm I don't know" she replied.

I could tell she was frightened so I holstered the gun and put my hand down and said: "let me help you up". she grabbed my hand and I pulled her up. "I have a place you can stay," I said and she said, "I would like that". I then called David he ran in to see what was going on he seen Jennifer and instantly calmed down we both looked at each other. " I thought everyone was dead" said David in a silent voice "No but they aren't really the people you want to meet" she mumbled "why not" I asked with curiosity "Ummm there cannibals" me and David looked at each other I could tell David was scared by the way he was shaking and the worried look in his eyes. I asked David if he found the medicine we needed he shook his head quickly. I then looked at Jennifer and told her we need to hurry back before it gets dark. "Wasn't there a city here before?" David asked "Yeah this used to be Muscatine. I looked back and seen David starting to tear up. He'd been raised in Green Lake and now his entire childhood was gone.When we finally got back to the shelter I took Jennifer to Elizabeth. "who's this? I thought I told you no outsiders!" Elizabeth yelled "but she was alone and her clothes are torn," David said.When she finally agreed to let her stay I showed her where her room would be. I decided to give her my room because I have the biggest bed and room and she needs her space."Thanks, I really needed somewhere to stay" said Jennifer I smiled and said, "Well a pretty girl shouldn't have to go through that and Cross should be bringing you some clothes to change into". I then took the medicine to Jake" man this headache is killing me" said Jake as he was rubbing his temples "well I got the medicine for you" I replied he slowly stood up and took the medicine from my hand and said, "I'll be out once this medicine kicks in". I went back to check on Jennifer I thought it would probably show her around the shelter so she knows where to get stuff if she needs it. I was showing her the kitchen when Jake walked in "who's this" Jake asked "oh umm this is Jennifer me and David found her when we were looking for medicine" I said nervously "well welcome home Jennifer you can stay if you like but you'll have chores to help keep this place clean" said Jake. I then showed her the two bathrooms. The next day I decided to take Jennifer outside where I had seen a tree.

I asked her what her life before the meteor was like she just said " umm well it was better than this I guess I didn't have very many friends and the ones I had were either killed by the meteor or eaten by the cannibals" "oh umm I'm sorry" I said in a calm voice. She started to cry so I gave her a hug I then promised myself that I would never let anything happen to her. Then Aaron and Cross started headed out towards us. "Hey, I brought snacks if you guys want any," said cross with a friendly smile " no thank you cross but can we get some time alone for a minute," I asked politely "oh yeah sure," Cross said as he walked away. " So you want to talk about what happened with the cannibals and stuff" I asked politely " umm I don't know I'm still trying to process what happened" Jennifer said with a shy voice "ok well take your time you've been through a lot" I started to head towards the others " hey thanks I really needed that" Jennifer said as I was walking to the others. Suddenly I hear two gunshots I quickly run over to see what is going on as I approach David I notice a body lying on the ground with a large puddle of blood underneath him. I quickly notice that it no one or anything I've ever seen before it has two legs and two arms like a human it's completely bald with rotten teeth and is very pale. " He was running on all fours and he attacked me I I didn't know what to do" said David with a scared trembly voice " It's a cannibal he would have killed you if you didn't shoot him" said Jennifer "so it's human" I asked with a scared voice "yes but it's lost all sanity he's a hunter" said Jennifer. "How much of them are there," asked David " thousands of them," said Jennifer "how do you know," I asked politely "Ummm I'd rather not say" Jennifer replied.

"Well we should probably head inside but bury that body first they might come looking for him" I commanded, in all honesty, I only told them to bury him because he's a human too and deserves a grave. David graded a shovel and started digging the grave I commanded the others to head into the shelter. They all listened besides Cross who tried to argue you until I shot him a look then he just went quiet and went on with the others. "Hey, David you think Jennifer is acting kind of weird," I asked nervously "umm only around you why" David replied "ok thanks I guess," I said. I went back inside the shelter and sat in my room when Jennifer walked in "Hey can we talk" Jennifer asked "umm sure come in I guess" I replied she walked over and sat next to me. So what you want to talk about" I asked "umm I'm not sure" Jennifer said " what" I asked curiously "my parents are Dead but I was taken when I was 16 and looked after by cannibals...They had vegetables so that's what I survived off of " she replied as she started crying "oh I'm sorry I didn't know" I said as I started hugging her. She stopped crying and kissed me then left the room. And I sat there for a while trying to process what just happened. Then I stood up and went to see where she went. When I finally found her she was asleep on the living room couch I picked her up and took her to her room. I tucked her in and said goodnight though she clearly couldn't hear me. Then I sat in my room wondering why she kissed me all night I really like her but does she like me. I'm so confused I guess I'll ask tomorrow. The next day I got up early to surprise Jennifer with breakfast. I start off by making eggs I wasn't sure how she liked them so I made them scrambled. Then I made bacon which is a rarity due to the fact that we're almost out of meat we even ran out of sausage. Then I made some hash browns. when I was done I put it on a tray and took it to her. Luckily she was awake "good morning" "Timothy what you got there?" Jennifer said "oh just Breakfast in bed" I replied with a smile "oh thank you, Timothy," said Jennifer."TIMOTHY get out here now!" I ran out as quickly as I could I saw David with the gun I asked what was going on "We need to go find food" he said bravely "were almost out" Cross said. "Well let's go find some food then".
