"Aurora, stop pestering the polar bears!"
Aurora stopped, ceasing her action of teasing the large beasts, heeding her friend's warning before she merely scoffed, rolling her eyes in slight annoyance at her friends attempt to stop her fun.
"aww, come on Marnie! You're no fun! Besides, who cares about these bears anyways" " I do' interjected Marnie, who was hastily placing down buckets of fish in front of the polar bear enclosure.
All of whom, were waiting eagerly for their lunchtime despite the previous teasing, eagerly awaited for their meal.
"Come on, Marnie." Complained Aurora with visible annoyance as she watched her friend prepare a pole to be able to feed the animals. "Why do you care so much about them? They're dumb and smelly. What's so good about them!" She argued, causing Marnie to become more agitated by the second. Giving Aurora a rather annoyed expression, she finished preparing the polar bears meal then went back for the rebuttal." What happened to you, Rory? you used to look so forward to this job all your life. What changed?" Marnie frowned, not liking her friends attitude towards the polar bears.
They grew up together and had the same dream of someday working alongside animals ever since they were small but, up until, recently. Aurora had been nothing but.... Arrogant and bitter towards the critters, mostly towards the polar bears in general.
"Ugh!
Marnie, I would rather feed a much cooler animal like a crocodile or something. Not these dumb balls of fluff!"
Aurora continued to argue, not noticing that the bears had appeared offended by the comment she had made but, she was completely unaware at this stage. A shocked expression soon laced its way onto her friend's face hearing the other girl's words; "but, Captain Barnacles is a polar bear. He is also the captain of a whole crew. Are you calling him dumb? Cuz he certainly isn't," Marnie replied feeling a little hurt by Aurora's comment about polar bears, feeling terrible for the poor creatures to endure this treatment trying to give the animals a sense of justice from her friends ongoing hatred towards them. She just didn't understand why.
Aurora groaned in mild annoyance. "Girl, stop bringing up that stupid show! It's old and I haven't seen it since I was a kid. " She belittled her companion, feeling mad that her friend tried to use a show in a real life situation. Marnie felt offended and gave a small hurt expression from Aurora's comment. "That show inspired us to work alongside animals, so we can help them, feed them and you know that! That show is THE reason why we're here! Don't you remember or have you forgotten?" Aurora stared at her, viably getting more annoyed by the second.
"Look, Marnie!
I don't care about these dumb polar bears! They can go extinct for all I care! "
Marnie was horrified. "Aurora! is that what the Octonauts would want you to do?"
"Like I said, I don't honestly care! And that show means nothing to me anymore, I'm a grownup! I shouldn't dwell on those silly little things! Let's just get this job over and done with!!" Marnie huffed feeling upset with Aurora but, admittedly, she knew they had a job to do and so with that thought in mind, she returns to her job taking one glance at her friend with an almost malicious expression on her face. Anger bubbling inside her chest and feeling hurt from Aurora's words. "You know, Rory. I hope karma gets you good. Karma gives punishment to those who deserve it, " she spoke, not giving a single glance over at Rory whom stood with a small glare appearing on her face. She was too angry to even comprehend what her friend was saying to her;
"Psh,
whatever, Marnie. "

Aurora sat in her room that afternoon when she came home from work. She was mad, like really mad . Mad at Marnie for all the things she had said at the sanctuary. At first, it started off as just a little bit of anger but as she thought about it, it grew and grew. Anger slowly turning into hatred as she sat there gripping the sheets of her blanket into a balled fist thinking over what had happened earlier that day.
'I hope karma gets you good. Karma gives punishment to those who deserve it,'
'What the hell did she mean by that?' She thought, confused and annoyed by the comment her friend had made earlier that day. she had spent a good few hours contemplating over what her friend had said. The anger soon returning.
Who was Marnie to tell her how to do her job, she was just having a bit of fun, this was her dream too! She felt annoyed. It always had felt like Marnie was trying to prove that she was better at her job then she was and that she knew better. A low growl escaped Aurora's throat whilst her grip on her sheets grew tighter.
"Well, she's wrong!
I am better at that job than even she is. She's just thinks she better than I am! She think she's so perfect! As if!" She growled, not noticing that she was literally tearing into her sheets at this point. As her resentment bubbled inside of her, something else did too. It felt like guilt, like punishment, like way too much. She tried to scream into her pillow but only an ungodly growl came out. She tried punching the pillow but, something made it explode into a swarm of feathers causing her to stop and realise what she had done. Had she gone too far? She blinked, observing the now exploded pillow before her. Suddenly, a small gust of wind caught her off guard but, yet, the window was closed causing a bit of confusion to slowly develop in the young girls mind.
"Maybe I'm just tired?......"
She then theorised after about ten minutes of awkward silence, turning her attention to check the time on her clock which read 9:30 pm. She then concluded that she just needed sleep. "It's late, maybe I should get some sleep" she told herself giving a small yawn, wanting to get some rest after a long day at work. something stopped her from falling asleep.
What started like a small pain in her chest soon became a burning sensation crossing her entire body, causing a cry of pain to escape sending the poor girl to the sending the poor girl to her knees. Coughing and wheezing, her head began to hurt, like really hurt. Her ears rang. Her chest felt like it was tearing itself apart, her fingers and toes became tingly. Her legs and arms become numb and suddenly, her world begins to spin. She wheezed, painfully holding onto the fabric of her shirt and she had finally collapsed into a defeated ball on the floor. Tears running down her cheeks.
Too tired to get up eventually, everything turned to black.
