Prologue
He pushes her up against the wall, her nails scratching down his back as his lips attach to her neck. His hands sliding roughly down her arms towards her waist, pulling her towards him. The corner of his lips tugging into a smirk as she lets out a moan. The night was cold and chilly, the air once wet from rain. The sound of laughter filling the air as the sound of footsteps echo across the wet pavement. He presses his lips against hers, silencing her before she can say anything to him.
It was better this way. He didn't care about what she was majoring in, where she worked, who her friends were and where she was from. He just wanted a warm body. Somebody to help him fill in the void he has been feeling for months. His job wasn't easy. It never really was.
She pulls away from him, catching her breath as her brown eyes lock on his gaze. His greenish blue eyes flickering down to her smeared lipstick. He only gives her a moment to catch her breath before his lips are back on hers. The cold air biting harshly at his flushed cheeks. She breaks away again only for a moment.
"Maybe we could go back to your place?" She asks, as his lips brush over her neck.
"Or we could just go to yours?" He replies back, watching as her lips turn up into a small smile.
"As much as I would love that we can't." She replies, leaning back into the old brick. Playfully pushing him away from her.
He tilts his head slightly at her answer. Raising an eyebrow as he licks his bottom lip. "And why is that?"
"I told you my roommates would kill me."
He pauses for a brief moment. Trying to remember their conversation from earlier but he honestly was just blocking all she was saying out of his head. He hadn't cared about any of that.
"So this is how you spend your time now?" An all to familiar voice asks from behind him.
He turns his head in the direction of a pair of piercing green eyes and fiery red hair. He backs away slowly from the girl, his eyes never leaving her hold as she takes a few steps towards them. A tight black leather jacket and a pair of black leggings. She still dressed the same he sees.
"You should go." She bitterly states, her eyes on him but her answer meant for the young women.
The young women glances back and forth at the both of them. Not sure which of them she should listen too. He tears his eyes away from the red head and towards the other women. Nodding his head for her to get out of here. Away from them.
Their night was officially over. The mood killed from the re-apparance of an old familiar face. He lets out a frustrated groan from his lips. A breath of cold air as he watches the girl disappear from the dark alley back to the club hopefully. He shoves his cold hands into his front jean pockets turning around to face the red headed women.
"Good to know your still bitter." He points out with a glare.
She just shrugs, inching closer to him. "Somebody has to chase them off. I never got that chance."
He can't help but laugh at her words. "You're a big girl Natasha. You wanted it just as much as I did."
Silence fills the dark alley once more before he questions her motives playfully."Why are you here? You following me? Didn't know I have my very own stalker on the loose."
"We need you back on the team Carver." Natasha reveals, "I offered to come and see if we could get you back."
"Back on The Avengers?" He laughs to himself. "How thoughtful of you Tasha. I appreciate the offer but I'm going to have to pass. Thanks though."
He turns his back on Natasha walking in the opposite direction of where he originally came from. "Carver-"
He stops at the sound of his name. Breathing in the cold New York air once more before turning around.
"Please? I wouldn't ask if it wasn't important. We need you back. Fury. Your dad. The team."
"Fine. But after this I'm done." She could hear the seriousness in his tone. He meant what he said but she couldn't help but doubt him either.
She nods at his demands leading him to the SUV she had parked around the corner. They walk quietly next to one another. So much to say yet he didn't even know where to begin with her. She was off limits he knew that. Or so that's what his father had wanted. And he's tried to stay away from her but somehow she's always right back into his life.
"Why did you choose to go after me? Why not one of the other members?" He asks honestly, his fingers brushing against the cold metal of the SUV door.
"Maybe I just missed you." She replies playfully in his ear.
He smiles at her response, opening the door to let her slide in first. His eyes scan the car for the driver of the SUV, her dark raven hair up in a pony tail her cold gaze looking at the both of them.
"Agent Hill." He nodded curtly.
"Grayson," she begins to drive away towards their destination."It's good to have you back."
"It's good to be back." Carver replies, looking at Natasha. Catching her gaze before letting his eyes watch the nightlife of New York come to life.
