flowers

the next morning infinite woke up in his now broken down fort, pillow on his face as he giggled and pulled himself out.

he remembered about the great time he had yesterday with a certain crystal hedgie causing him to pick the pillows up next to him.

"good morning meph- oh.." he was gone and with this little known fact he thought nothing of it. "musta went home."

he went downstairs for breakfast where both parents resided, drinking coffee in the dinning room as they talked. at the sight of their adopted son, they were surprised believing he was at a sleepover with his 'friends'.

"oh um, it was kinda boring so i came home early last night." he lied when his mother questioned him avoiding the part where amy and her pals took him to the cementary and almost beat him up

and mephiles...
he kept that part to himself.

"okay.." sonic said, he had a gut feeling his son was lying. it might have been the sweat at the side of his head or his nervous smile but he shrugged it off and their morning was started as usual.

infinite's weekend was spent the same as they always were. he played by himself in his room almost all day on saturday and his parents took him to the mall on sunday.

while playing outside with his chalk sunday afternoon, he had an urge to go find mephiles and maybe play a bit so he did.

teleporting to the cementary, he called for his only friend. going through every corner and even wandering into the woods calling his name but he got no reply. when he was ready to call it quits, he spotted an older cream colored rabbit who wore a blue blouse with flowers in her hand.

"hey kid," she called to him. "what are you doing here?"

"um, im looking for my friend.." he replied.

"why would your friend be at the cementary?" the lady asked.

"i dunno, he said he lived here."

"he was probably messing with you." the other said. "you should go home, it's dangerous."

"i know, but i can protect myself!" he said, raising his chest to look all brave even though we all know that after what happened two nights ago, self defense wasn't infinite's greatest talent.

"strange kid." she mumbled. she made way to a gravestone with infinite following.

"hey those are pretty flowers." the jackal said. "who are they for?"

the woman sighed and once they were at the gravestone, she made way for the other to see. "why don't you look for yourself?" she asked.

infinite inched down and narrowed his eyes at the words engraved within the stone reading at the name. "cr-eam." he spelled out. after saying those words he looked up at the distressed woman. "was she your friend?" he asked.

"no," she sighed kneeling down and setting the bouquet of orange tulips in a purple vase that was already there. "she was my daughter."

the boy frowned gently patting her back "im sorry." he said.

despite all the stress of losing her kid even after all these years, the lady managed a smile at this child's kindness "it's quite alright, sometimes i can feel her still here. watching over me.."

infinite nodded understandably. "if you don't mind me asking, how did she die?"

she looked up, tears in her eyes "...she was murdered."
