Chapter Four:I'm Sorry But Magnus Died Long Ago.
My baby Ava,
You won't be proud of me. Since my first murder I've spiralled out of control. Death, destruction and pain all follow me like I'm the master of it all. Ever since you -my sunshine- left me, my world has been nothing but darkness.
I can't even remember what your laugh was like and it's killing me.
I've been through it all. Anger, sadness, insomnia, depression and even thoughts about joining you.
No one seems to get it, even in the human world where I thought they'd be more understanding.
Everyone seems to judge me without even knowing my story and I just can't deal with it. Everyone seems to be more obsessed with getting more attention online then helping each other. But most of all, no one seems to care that people are committing suicide because their hearts were too fragile for this cruel, cruel world.
In a way I'm kinda glad you're not here. You couldn't have dealt with this. Heck, even I can't deal with this. And therefore killing seemed to take my pain and temporarily transfer it to someone else.
First it started small. Five years after that painful night I was walking around the streets of London when I heard screaming. Normally, I would've ignored it but it sounded unbearably similar to you.
As soon as they screamed I was running without even processing what I was doing. Stumbling down a dark alley I almost choked.
A girl no older then fifteen was struggling to free herself. Three huge brutes where trying to push her down onto the floor but she was putting up one hell of a fight. Grunting, one of the males sunk to the floor after she had stuck home with a kick to the nether regions.
"You'll pay for that bitch!"
A harsh, resonating slap battled for room in the tension thick air. The nameless girl let out a sob, her terrified eyes darting around until they landed on me. Begging me with her eyes, she gestured towards the men. Her cheek screamed pain at me and I grasped at my head before soundlessly approaching.
Unfortunately, I had waited a tad too long and the men had started to remove her undergarments when I pounced. Grabbing two of the men by the back of their shirts, I pulled them away from the extremely scared teenager who lay broken on the dirty pavement. Realisation of what could've been if I hadn't helped had seeped in and the fight drained from her eyes.
Turning to face the monsters, I gritted my teeth. Of course. Who else could they have been? They were the scum I didn't even want underneath my shoe. Agents of B.A.T.A. People who wanted me dead.
Extinction of unnatural beings and true alphas. The bane of my existence. They believed in one goal, that only werewolves and humans were the only natural creatures to be able to communicate. Anything ranging from vampires to the odd and extremely rare centurion were vile beings to be disposed of.
And so proceeded to beat them to near death, careful not to let the girl see anything too utterly disturbing. Turning to the last man who was still trying to have his way with the teen.
Growling loudly, I grabbed him by the scruff of his neck and threw him through the air. The girl, who I really needed a name for, looked on in shock and amazement as she saw him hurtling towards the wall opposite us. Winking at her, I saw a spark of mischief fill her eyes as she bounded after him, her laughter chiming through the air as she kicked him roughly in the stomach. Crouching down next to him, she proceeded to stroke his face.
"Oh honey," a smirk crawled its way upon her pixie like features as disgust radiated off her in waves. "You have no idea what species I belong too. You don't want to go roughing up everyone you deem fit. You see, some of us may get scared and weak but you forget, you don't always hold the power."
Giggling, she took his disfigured face between her hands and leant in to kiss him. At first I stood there is shock, how could this teen kiss a man who had out his hands where they were not wanted.
Then I grinned.
Of course she would be one of them.
The man shuddered in pain and desperately tried to get her off him. He had no luck. After thirty seconds, the man took his last breath and she stood up and gagged.
"Urgh, his soul tasted good and I hate it. My names Raine by the way. Thanks for the save back there, I appreciate it. I prefer to choose my meals. It makes it ever so exciting don't you think?"
Giving her a subtle nod, I replied. "Magnus. Nice to meet you." Clicking my fingers, she watched me in amusement.
"So is this what you do for fun? Save potential rape victims? I expected more from the great Magnus. Heard you've been off the radar ever since your family were murdered five years ago. Brutal, honestly. Well if you'd excuse me, a succubus has gotta eat."
"Why don't you stay, you'd be a very valuable asset to me; I have an extremely long list of awful people for you to feed on."
"Hmmmn, well I never turn down free food so sure, why the heck not. Let me finish up here first and I'll join you."
And that's how ten years later I still have an ironically lesbian succubus for a best friend. Raine has made a lot of things easier in my awful life and she's helping me fulfil my promise to you. B.A.T.A will get taken down even if it kills me and now I have one extra member.
She's the one who suggested writing you a letter but I've always been to scared. Emotions have never been my thing as you know but as she said this morning, you're the one I trust the most and I shouldn't bottle up my emotions. The thing is, the Magnus you knew and loved is dead and has been for a long while. Buried within thousands of lies and a tonne of bodies that keep piling up. All of which have my name carved into their chest.
Honestly, I don't know whether or not I miss the old me. Yes, I'd do pretty much anything to go back to the blissful state of watching films with you and eating more than I could possibly ever need but I don't belong there anymore. I belong in the present where I'm numb to most and seen more than you could ever dream to imagine.
And I regret nothing. Not a single damned body. Some call me the harbringer of death because that's all they know of me. Some quiver at the mention of me and I relish in it. I think I'm loosing myself, Raine too. Barley do we laugh together anymore. Instead we're obsessed. I have no clue whether this is for you anymore.
All I know is that I have this inexplicable urge to kill, I don't know when it crept up on me but I know that it's pressing a heavy weight on my shoulders that no one should carry.
Don't pity me though baby, it's my fault. I've done this to myself. I guess the prophecies true, there's no avoiding one of those - they're never wrong.
Goodbye my darling Ava,
Death xoxo
*~*~*~*~*
"It's time for this to happen. There is no other choice!" Elder McCanon cried as he addressed us. "That boy has fulfilled his prophecy and we need to stop him and this is the only way!"
He was asking a lot to our community of elders. Whose power and time had made them selfish and arrogant. They did not want to die, instead they wanted a nice plush retirement house with a swimming pool and plenty of opportunities for a holiday away from the mayhem and somewhere safe.
But alas, wishes are meant for births not deaths.
"It's time we leave for our new generation to rule. We've outlived our lifetime and it's time we die a noble death! The boy we hoped to rule us is long gone. This killing spree has continued for far to long."
The cacophony of voices screeched through my ears, almost reminding me of seagulls fighting on a beach.
"How do we know this will work?" A wizened man piped up, straining to be seen over the mass of people.
Laughing to myself at the basic question, elder McCanon paused thoughtfully for a second before snapping out a response.
"Elder Kreglaid, an excellent question indeed. It came to me in a vision during a meditation earlier this evening sent by one of the gods or goddesses themselves. Of course I wondered why I hadn't thought of it earlier.
Heayumaslieah only shifts every millennia from a great deal of power provided by the goddess which as an appreciation to our planet she feeds it back into a special soul. We ourselves have great power and it was written in the prophecy that another true alpha will save us all, and we are the sacrifice that soul has been waiting for.
The goddess cannot get involved as she cannot show favourites yet she found a loophole. We have immense power and with it all put together we can end these dark days. The bodies that pile up on every doorstep quicker then we can hold the proper burial rituals for.
This needs to end and we can help do that. Just think of the rewards we will get in the afterlife, maybe even a reincarnation! Another chance if life without our aged bodies. Think of the possibilities.
So are you all in?"
A series of grunts and nods of approval filled the wisdom and I hid my happiness behind my annoying cloak. Finally. We would finally have people worthy of being elders ruling. Hopefully it wouldn't be long as the new true alpha would be here to take the throne.
It was well deserved though as the people of the communities were getting badly mistreated by the elders who had grown tired of their positions.
"Melvin, set up the sacrificial hall."
Taking that as my queue to leave I lolled out the door. I was glad to be out of that small room which felt overcrowded with tearful goodbyes.
Picking up my pace I strides into the hall and set up the poison. When an elder dies, the power flows through the earth and into Heayumaslieah (the planet of power) through the invisible chords that tie all the planets to one another.
Usually, the planet graces us with a year of luck but the overload of power would hopefully end up with a new true alpha being created.
"Melvin we are ready. Please step behind the protective screen so the power doesn't flow through you and take your life as well. Please guide the new generation well Head Elder Hughes."
Smiling to Elder McCanon I stepped behind the protective screen, my heart in my throat. I had no idea what to expect only that the poison took effect immediately after consumption. Staring at McCanon chant a few lines from the supernatural book I rubbed my eyes. This would be the last time I would ever see him alive and well.
"Goodbye father." I whispered as I watched their eyes roll back into their skulls as the dropped to the floor. "I love you."
Awestruck, I watched as a golden substance flowed from their bodies and sunk through the floor. The plan was working. A new true alpha would be born to save us. Hands shaking, I unlocked the door and stepped over their bodies to hear the lightening crackle with residue power.
The deed was done. The earth would see through another millennia.

See a mistake, point it out!
It's extremely early in the morning but I'm writing this because I don't feel tired at all. RIP me. I wonder whose going to be introduced in the next chapter.
Well, I guess you'll have to wait and see
;)
