***KATE’S POV***

Monday’s always passed slow, and I was sitting in Physics daydreaming about Miss Riley when I realized we only had a couple of weeks till Thanksgiving Holidays. I loved this time of year because we had a lot of time off, which meant more party time for me. 

Except now I was constantly being bothered with the thought of what Michelle had told me Friday night and I couldn’t stop thinking about it. She had claimed I could find her anytime I wanted, but when I remembered who she had gone to the party with it clicked in my head. 

Collin, I needed to find Collin if I wanted to find Michelle.

I watched the clock, it was almost time to go, and I knew where I would find him, with Stiles ands Tess in the parking lot. I wouldn’t wait up fro Emma, she would understand if I told her I had something to do, besides, I didn’t want her involved with all the problems I had put onto my shoulders over the weekend. 

I packed up my things right as the bell started ringing, dismissing me out of school. I stood, hurrying out the classroom and to the parking lot, hoping I could catch Collin before they disappeared to wherever they went. 

I knew that I had a gut feeling that something was off about them, never in a million years would I have thought it was werewolves, but I still knew. 

I made my way to the parking lot, the bright light nearly blinding me as my newly improved vision adjusted quickly. My eyes quickly darted to the usual spot where Collin and his gang hung out and I found them immediately.

And they were all looking at me.

I had never felt intimidated by anyone, but they intimidated me, and I didn’t understand why. Was Stiles and Tess like Michelle? Were they all like… me?

I made my way over to them, running my hand in my wavy blonde hair and pulling it out of my face. I was trying not to let them see I was nervous but if they were like me they would be able to hear it in my heartbeat, and I couldn’t hide that. 

Collin’s hazel eyes found mine, and it was like he knew exactly what I was thinking. He turned to me and I took in his figure, he was tall and muscular, his tousled dirty blonde hair sitting in a casual style on his head. He was good looking, just like Stiles and Tess, and I felt my nervousness kick in more. 

I spoke, not beating around the bush so I could escape as soon as possible, “I need to find Michelle.”

He tilted his head, as if wondering why I was so obviously nervous, “You have no reason to be nervous around us, Kate. We’re just like you.”

It was weird hearing him say this but it struck a nerve in me, and I didn’t know what to say. I looked at Stiles and Tess who were looking up at Collin and then back at me, not knowing what to make of this awkward situation. 

I looked up at him, wondering what I could say, I just wanted answers, and he probably read it on my face because it forced him to speak up. He sighed, scratching the back of his head, “Meet us tonight behind the football stadium, around 7:00 , we’ll be… doing our chores.”

Stiles and Tess joined his laughter even though I didn’t find anything funny, guess it was some weird inside joke they had. 

I nodded, pulling out my keys, “Alright,” then I was walking away from them quickly, not understand their weirdness. Maybe it was me that was weird, considering I had no idea what the hell was going on inside of me. 

But they seemed alright, so maybe I would be too.

I slammed my door shut, seeing Emma had  texted me but I ignored it, I had way to much to think about before 7:00 tonight. 

What did they mean by chores? And why did they think it was so funny? I just didn’t understand, but maybe I would be filled in tonight. Hopefully I would be anyway… but why did it have to be so late? It would be almost dark because of the time change…

And I wasn’t keen on that idea. 

But it was the only way I knew that I could get answers, and I would be there, and I knew if anything bad happened I would turn into some weird creature. 

Which  I had yet to find out how to use. 

I didn’t want to, it scared me, the idea of me turning into this monster that was living inside me. I didn’t understand it, it scared me, yes… but something inside my gut told me everything was ok. I guess that’s why I hadn’t completely freaked out yet. 

I felt like it was normal, but turning into it scared me, mostly because I didn’t know if I would be able to turn back into a human.

I made it home, feeling a sense of starvation coming over me, which was now a new thing. I never used to be hungry, now I was constantly hungry.

There was no way I was hitting a growth spurt at 18 years old, so there was something else going on. 

I laid on the couch, watching the clock intensely as I waited for something to pop into my head to do. I wasn’t doing homework, fuck that, I couldn’t even focus on anything other than what Michelle and them would have in store for me.

Then my phone rang and I checked it, surprisingly seeing a text message from Emily. You know, the girl I was having sex with?

I opened it, reading, “Hey, wanna come over? I’m alone and bored.”

I smiled, she always had a way to make it seem innocent, but she was really cool to hang out with so I texted her back quickly. Grabbing my keys off of the counter and heading out the door, knowing she would make the time pass faster.

Emily was on top of me, kissing my neck as her hands roamed under my shirt, gripping my sides as she kissed along my collar bone. I smiled, she was something, and she could never take her hands off of me when we were together. 

She smelt really good to, like vanilla soap, and I flipped her under me, glancing at the clock. It was only 6:00, I still had an entire hour. 

She looked up at me, her light eyes peering up into mine, “Have somewhere to go?”

I smiled cooly, “I do, but not for awhile, why?”

She shrugged, “You seem different, that’s all.”

I smirked, leaning down to her lips, whispering, “Because I am.”

She smiled, laughing sexily to herself, “What’s so different then, Kate?”

“I can’t tell you, it’s a secret.”

She groaned, “Hmm, I don’t like secrets.”

I kissed her neck, hitting her well known hot spot, making her moan as I spoke, “I know.”

It almost seemed like we were a couple, but we were far from it. I mean sure, Emily was cool, and she was hot, but like I had said before, I didn’t want a relationship. 

Plus I had a hell of a lot more problems now.

I slipped my hands under her shirt, holding her boobs in my hands and kissing along her neck, making her forget about what we were just talking about. She thrusted her hips into me and I kissed her lips, biting her lip lightly, forcing her mind into a different place. 

I figured I could give her something before I left, just to thank her for keeping me company. So I removed her pants and gave her what she wanted, enjoying it because it always sounded good to hear her say my name. 

She finished under me, I ran my hands up her body as I brought my face back up to hers. She was still panting but she didn’t refuse a kiss when I went in for one, I could always count on Emily to take away the pain and loneliness when she was around. I mean, maybe it was because we didn’t talk about all the bad shit, we just joked and messed around with each other. 

But that’s all we were ever going to be.

I looked up at  the clock again, seeing that it was time to head off back to school, I smiled, “Thanks for inviting me over.”

She smirked up at me, “Thanks for coming.”

I winked, “You too,” she blushed as I pulled myself up off the bed and grabbed my keys heading for the door.

Then she spoke, “Kate…”

I looked at her, seeing something weird in her eyes as she looked at me and smiled weakly, but when our eyes locked she changed it to a sly smirk. She waved, “See you.”

I smiled, wondering what she had originally wanted to say but ignored the thought as I left her house. There was no reason to wonder, she was probably just going to say something sexual like, “We should do it again sometime,” or something like that. 

I drove quickly to the school, knowing I would need to park in the back behind the stadium if I wanted to stay secluded. I pulled up, my headlights shining through the empty lot, and then I spotted them, five silhouettes standing at the end of the lot, near the field. 

I exited my car, feeling my heart pump quickly inside my chest, not knowing what to expect. 

I walked cautiously over to them, and I heard laughter, but when they all  turned around my heart nearly stopped in my chest. I saw Collin, Stiles and Tess, and Michelle, but there was one more man there, he was big, his dark hair and those familiar piercing eyes…

He was the man with Collin at the bar on my birthday!

I had seen all of these people, but I had no idea who they were. The man of the group, he had this aura, it was intimidating, vicious, strong… and I was quite afraid of him actually. 

Michelle stepped forward, forcing my instinct to make me stop in my tracks, she spoke, “You don’t have to be afraid, Kate.”

I stepped forward, seeing them clearly now as my new night vision kicked in, revealing all of their faces clearly. Michelle spoke again, “You know Collin, Stiles and Tess, and me of course… this is Dean Early, he’s the Alpha.”

There was that word again, Alpha, something I wasn’t quite understanding. Alpha’s were in wolf packs, but we were humans, more or less, so did that still stand? I spoke, “I thought you were the Alpha.”

She smiled, letting me see her sharp fangs in the dim light, “I’m the Alpha Female, he’s the Alpha Male.”

I rolled my eyes, this was still to much for me, I spoke, “Just explain this to me… I don’t understand.”

Dean stepped forward, his figure looking very intimidating as he stood in front of me, “Kate, it’s in your blood, this should come natural to you.”

What? It’s in my… blood? What the fuck did that even mean? I looked at Michelle and she looked shocked, stepping forward immediately, “Um, Dean… I didn’t tell her…”

He looked at her, growling loudly, “What?”

I became scared, “Tell me what, Michelle? I thought you were supposed to give me answers!”

She growled back at Dean, “Don’t growl at me Dean, I can’t just throw her into something like this! She already had to get the truth from her parent’s.” 

She looked at me then, stepping forward and placing a hand on my shoulder, calming me down. “Did they tell you?”

I nodded, “Y-Yea, I’m adopted, but I don’t understand why…”

She looked at me, and then back at Dean, who gave her a signal to continue. She sighed heavily, “Kate… your real parents… they were killed.”

I felt my heart stop in my chest, my knees became weak as I stared blankly at Michelle. I spoke, “What…?”

Dean walked up to me, and for some reason I felt some connection to him… it was weird. I looked up at him as he placed his hand on my shoulder, “Your real mom and dad, they were murdered by our own kind. They were the original Alpha’s of the pack but… me and Michelle were the only one’s that survived. We became the Alpha’s, Michelle not by blood, and we created a new pack.”

Michelle, not by blood. Blood Alpha’s… my parent’s were Alpha’s, my real parents… it’s in my blood… 

I felt weak, everything that had been laid on me hit me like a ton of bricks, nearly knocking me off of my feet. I spoke, stuttering, “M-My parents… they were werewolves?”

He nodded, “Your father was the Alpha after his father died, he changed your mother into one when they were still young. She gave birth to you, shortly after they were murdered, and I brought you to the Brooks family’s doorstep, so you could be safe, away from this life.”

I looked at him warily, not completely understanding what I was hearing. I couldn’t believe it, everything I knew was a complete lie. I spoke, “What did you mean by Michelle not being ‘Alpha by blood’?”

He looked at Michelle, running his hand through his hair as he looked back at me, “Kate… I’m your uncle.”

This was a huge blow to the face, I felt the wind exit my lungs as I took in that information. This scary werewolf man in front of me was my uncle, someone who I didn’t even know? Dean Early, so I wasn’t technically Katherine Brooks, I was an Early, just like my father. 

My real father. 

Dean smiled down at me, “I’ve been waiting for this day for a long time Kate.”

I clenched my jaw in aggression, I still didn’t understand what the fuck was happening. I spoke, “Ok, so if this was “in my blood”, why did Michelle bite the shit out of me?”

He laughed slightly, and the rest of them did to, but I didn’t find it funny at all. He spoke, “An Alpha has to bite you to give you… a boost I guess you could say. Your father or mother usually does it but… any Alpha should do.”

This was all still so new to me, I still didn’t completely understand it but I was hanging on to every word Dean told me. 

But I still felt as if there was something they were leaving out.

Then Dean lifted his head into the air, and he actually sniffed, and growled loudly, speaking. “There’s one here.”

Michelle and the rest of the pack soon reacted, shifting into the creature that was already inside of me. All of their eyes were glowing, piercing through the darkness of the stadium, and then Dena took off without them. They all took off not long after but Tess waited up, looking at me through the night, her dark hair and her glowing green eyes looking at me, “Coming?”

I spoke, “I don’t know how…”

She smiled, showing the familiar sharp canine teeth, “Think about it, Kate.”

And I felt it, welling up inside my stomach, the tension and aggression, and I let out a loud growl as I felt the shifting inside me. My claws grew, my senses enhanced, I felt stronger and my vision was the best it’s ever been.

Tess smiled, “Good girl,” then she took off down the field, and I followed her. The speed was amazing, I could feel everything, smell everything…

I saw Dean up ahead, fighting something… it had a horrific smell and glowing red eyes. It looked human besides that… but it definitely wasn’t.

Then a familiar scent was in my nose and my heart stopped, it was Miss Riley’s. 

She had been here just seconds before I showed up.
