***KATE'S POV***

I was fatigue, my knees were touching the cold morning ground as I looked at Michelle who was also in the same position as me. I could feel the power inside me, a spark, a fire, and she nodded, "Do you feel it?"

I nodded in agreement, knowing exactly what she was talking about. I stood, catching my breath and looking at Dean who was watching me intently, nodding everyone back off into the house. "I want to talk to Kate, alone."

I felt my heart beat a little faster but if he didn't think I was ready he wouldn't have given me the position. I stood tall, trying not to seem nervous, knowing my heartbeat was giving it away anyway.

He tilted his head, "Walk with me."

I followed him, feeling my senses extend miles ahead of me, I had never felt this kind of power before. I could hear things over 500 feet away from me, smell every scent and see ever particle in the air. I couldn't believe how awesome this felt, but I couldn't get carried away, I knew that this wasn't a game, this was reality.

He spoke again, catching me a little off guard, "Have you heard from your parents?"

I shook my head, "No, maybe tonight considering it's Christmas Eve."

I saw pity flash across his face but he shrugged, "You're welcome to spend it with us, we don't really spend much money or have an extravagant party... but it's better than nothing."

I nodded, "I wasn't planning on spending Christmas alone."

He laughed, and then he sighed, "I know where you were last night, and I know you wouldn't be doing it if you didn't love her, Kate."

This made me slump into a weird feeling, knowing he was right, because if I didn't truly care about Jennifer I wouldn't be going through all this trouble. But I was going through it because I loved her, a lot, and everyone knew that.

"But... it's dangerous, and you need to know she is a target. They might not continue attacking her because they are afraid of us, considering we've killed two of them already, but they're not going to give up."

I nodded, knowing he was right, and I remembered how I had thought about changing her, and considering I was an Alpha... I could if I wanted.

"Would it be possible... to bite her?"

He sighed heavily, probably wondering how I was still thinking about that at a time like this, "No, cause if you change her now she'll fight with us, and she could get killed. If she's a human she's still not as big a target as if she would be a werewolf. Understand?"

I nodded, realizing he hadn't shot down the idea, because he was most likely thinking about it himself. Then he continued his lecture, "And Emma... I don't want her running around with fangs and claws but... she needs to be protected to."

I agreed instantly, hoping that she was okay considering I haven't talked to her in awhile. She had kind of freaked out when I did tell her but I knew she would come around eventually.

"How do we know when we need to prepare them for the fight?"

He shrugged, "Even though we've met up with plenty of Betas doesn't mean it's getting close. Usually it will happen on a Full Moon, which will give us an extreme advantage because we're strong already and the moon will only help us."

"But the Full Moon is after Christmas night..."

He nodded, "I know, and we'll be safe because they're not going to attack."

I shook my head, "How do you know all of this?"

"We used to be allies, I know a lot about them and my best bet is that the next Full Moon will be when they attack."

That gave us a little over a month to prepare, get stronger, and master our Full Wolf transformation. If everyone in our Pack could do that we would be unstoppable.

Then as if me and Dean were in sync, we both stopped. I heard footsteps maybe about 300 feet away from us, getting closer and closer until I smelt an unfamiliar scent. I growled, "Who is it?"

"Isis."

My heart nearly ruptured, knowing exactly who it was and what she was coming to do. I tapped gently into my wolf just in case, feeling my eyes enhance and glow brighter than they usually do and my claws extend out of my fingers.

I saw her, flanked by two others as she entered my line of sight. Was she planning on attacking us? I growled, knowing this couldn't be anything good if she did attack.

He blonde hair was long and wavy, flowing past her chest as she approached us smoothly. She was beautiful, her clear icy blue eyes glowed, making me notice the yellow ring around her pupils. She stood a little taller than me but not by much, she was sure something else.

Hard to believe she was a killer.

She spoke, "Dean, you never seem to sell yourself short when you say you know us, but we've changed, a lot. Both of you have killed two members of my pack already and I should kill you both right now."

Dean growled, his green eyes lighting up in anger, "Why don't you then?"

She laughed, the sinister sound ringing sharply through my ears, "Because, I want to kill your Pack first, then your mate... then you." Her eyes snapped to me, nearly making my heart stop in my chest. She laughed, "And then there's you... Rachelle Early, the daughter of the man who killed my mate."

"My dad was defending himself."

She walked over to me, only a foot of distance stood between us, "And where is he now?"

I growled then, roaring loudly in her face, making her realize that I wasn't a Beta anymore, and I wasn't afraid to rip her head off right then and there.

She stepped back, looking at Dean, "She's an Alpha?"

He nodded, "You can end this rivalry you know."

He growled then, seeming hurt and betrayed, "I will not end anything until no one is left in your pack, including your baby."

I felt protectiveness wash over me as I growled, knowing I wasn't going to let her touch Dustin if it was the last thing I did.

"I'm going to avenge Isaac's death by the next Full Moon."

I growled, "We'll be ready."

Her lip twitched in disgust, turning for the woods and speaking, "No you won't," and then she was gone.

I looked at Dean, "You think we can win with the 6 of us?"

I saw worry cross his face, "If she outnumbers us, the only advantage we can have will be the Full Moon and our Full Wolves, which no one has accessed yet besides me and you."

I knew he was right, if she had ten members in her pack we would have trouble. Even though we were strong didn't mean we could take down everyone on our own, we would need help, and we would be greatly outnumbered.

"Should we put Michelle with Emma, Jennifer and Dustin?"

He nodded, "We won't fight anywhere near the cabin though."

I agreed instantly, "Of course."

Then soon we were standing in an open field, the brown grass laid flat letting us see the entire area. It was flat and Dean spoke, "Here, we will end this here."

This place had a weird feel to it, like there had been plenty other battles here. I could smell blood, people died right where I was standing. Why would Dean pick such a morbid seeming place?

"Why here?"

He sighed heavily, "This is where the others died in battle, this is where your parents died fighting for a good cause."

Suddenly this place seemed even more horrible, knowing that we were going to fight in the exact place where we had lost the last battle. We were going to fight where my parents died, where Dean's brother and the rest of the pack died years ago.

It was actually ironic.

I bent down, touching the ground and feeling a weird strength enter me, like the power from the others that died here was in this very ground.

"It's sacred here."

I nodded, knowing exactly what he meant. The power that lied in this place was going to help us, although I knew it would help the Vega's as well. I stood, looking up at Dean and wondering if this was going to end well, "What if someone dies?"

He sighed, "It happens, deaths always come with war Kate, you just have to learn to carry on."

"How did you do it?"

He looked down at the ground, as if trying to picture his deceased pack members there with him. He shrugged, "It was tough, it was a really hard part in me and Michelle's life, but you were a big part of my life even when you had no idea. I knew that you would grow up safe and one day we would be together again, we would reunite and be one of the strongest packs in this area. I knew you needed to survive just as much as I did because you and I were the key to the Early survival. So I pushed on, some days were unbearable but when I finally gained and gathered enough strength to start building a pack again... things got better."

I nodded, knowing that losing a Pack member was painful, more painful than anything you've experienced. Dean told me you felt it inside your heart, the bond breaking as they took their last breath. It could weaken you... or it could make you stronger.

"And now we're almost ready, we're so strong Kate, and deaths aren't in favor for us. We'll be stronger than them even though they'll have more people. They have one Alpha, who in fact is not the True Alpha, we have two Alpha's who are True Alpha's, which puts us at a great advantage already. We know how to fight, we've trained vigorously, and we're strategic."

He had plenty of points, but we were talking life and death here, this wasn't a game. This was it, if you lost you were dead, there was no coming back for a second chance.

One wrong move and you'll die instantly.

Then Dean's phone rang and he answered, "Allen?"

His eyes brightened a little and I could tell there was some good news on the way, he nodded and answered, "We'll be there in a few."

He hung up and I spoke, "What did Allen want?"

"He has something for us, for the night of the battle. Something that could protect Michelle and Dustin and the others."
