***KATE’S POV***

After the humiliating encounter we had finally made our way back to the house. The others went inside to eat while I stayed outside, to annoyed to even think about eating. Sunrise was going to come in a couple of hours and I could feel my body returning back to it’s normal state. I was relaxing, my muscles weren’t bulging, my teeth and claws were normal again and my heart was normal, moping in progress. 

I didn’t know what had come over me, it was just instinct to attack, but I guess Dean had a point. He was the Alpha, I had no right to do whatever I wanted, even though I was a True Alpha as well.

Then I heard someone exit the house and instantly I knew it was Dean, his scent wrapped around my as he joined me outside. He sighed heavily, “Kate, do you understand why I humiliated you in front of everyone tonight?”

I hung my head low, not really wanting to talk to anyone at this moment but realizing I had no choice. I nodded, “Yes.”

“I understand you recognized the scent, even before me which is very impressive, but you would’ve killed an innocent vampire. He was probably changed against his will, and being the good soul he wouldn’t prey on humans, that’s why his eyes were pale brown and not bright red.”

I nodded, “I know.”

“You should come inside, eat, get some rest.”

I shrugged, “I will in a bit.”

He knew I wanted to be alone and stood, “Ok,” and then he disappeared into the house. 

Only to have someone else come from the back and join me. I groaned, “Tess I really don’t feel like getting made fun of right now.”

She shook her head, “I believe you should’ve killed it, I think every vampire deserves to be killed. They’re all some sort of evil, and they are powerful, they threaten the human existence.”

I nodded, “But Dean’s right, he was probably changed against his will.”

She shrugged, “Just my opinion.”

I ran my hand through my tangled blonde hair and realized I had spent some time out here, I looked at Tess, “Why are you out here anyway?”

She shrugged, “Just to come check on you.”

I rolled my eyes, “I’m fine, really.”

She leaned forward, her shoulder grazing mine as she whispered, “You have a funny way of showing that you’re fine.”

I shivered as her breath caught my neck, realizing she was actually turning me on. I gazed up at the disappearing moon, I would be back at school tomorrow and I should be sleeping, but I wasn’t tired. Tess’s hand found mine as she leaned towards me, I spoke, “Tess, I thought you didn’t have a crush on me anymore?”

She shrugged, smiling devilishly, “Old feelings have a habit of resurfacing.”

I smiled, “Good point.”

She tilted her head, “You still up for that fight, or what?”

I looked at her, realizing she was being playful as I stood, “You sure you want me to kick your ass?”

She shrugged, “We’ll be stronger for a couple hours, the Full Moon’s still above.”

She swung her arm swiftly for my face but I leaned back, hearing her claws whiz right past the tip of my nose. I threw my hand forward in attempt to grab her arm but she moved just as quick, avoiding and only letting my claws graze her shoulder. Her green eyes were glowing in the dark night, her long light brown curls draping around her wickedly beautiful face. 

She dipped, swinging her foot under me and knocking me to the ground as I felt the air exit my lungs. She was straddling me, her eyes staring right down into mine as her hands held mine to the cold ground. She smiled, revealing her extended canine teeth, “You’re to easy.”

“I let you win.”

She tilted her head, exposing her smooth neck, “Why’s that Kate?”

I pushed suddenly, flipping her on her back and retrieving my rightful place on top as I was now straddling her. I was smirking hard now, her hands under mine as I pressed them into the dirt of the forest floor, “Because you get sidetracked easily.”

She smiled, “Only you do that.”

Her face was illuminated by the moonlight, her eyes glowing brightly as I watched her canines return to normal length. She shifted down as I moved my body against hers, realizing I was captivated by Tess. She was just so irresistible when she was looking at me like that, she was so physical and sexy…

Then Dean exited the house and yelled, “Both of you, come inside.”

I didn’t feel the need to correspond but Tess did automatically, knowing she would always obey Alpha’s orders. I stood, following her into the house as she glanced back and winked, her green eyes glowing as I realized I might just be feeling something for Tess. 

But nothing compared to how I felt with Miss Riley.

I woke up to Tess shaking me awake, her face coming into view as my eyes opened slowly, “Wake up, we have school.”

I groaned, “I don’t care.”

She shoved me, sending me falling to the wooden floor, waking me up slightly. She laughed as I stood, standing over her, she smiled, “Your morning breath reeks.”

I smirked slightly, walking up to her and yawning right in her face, “Thanks.”

She shoved me away, holding her nose between her fingers, “God Kate!”

I laughed as I shut myself away in the bathroom, finally taking notice to how I felt completely different. I felt normal, I didn’t feel angry or agitated, I mean sure I was tired as hell but I didn’t feel like ripping anyone’s throat out. 

I brushed my teeth and fixed my hair, realizing I wasn’t even at my house to wear my own clothes. I walked out and into Tess’s room, seeing her fixing her makeup in her mirror. She sighed, “You need to borrow some clothes?”

I smiled, “I do.”

I rummaged through her drawers and found some jeans and a thin zip-up, even though it was cold outside we never really got cold. We were always hot from our over heated bodies, so it sucked when we had to dress like it was cold when we didn’t even feel it. 

I pulled the clothes on and joined everyone downstairs for breakfast, realizing I was extremely hungry as I shoved bacon and eggs into my mouth. I hadn’t eaten last night and it was catching up with me this morning, I was starving.

I glanced at Dean and he looked as if he had something on his mind, I wondered if he could be thinking of who he wanted on his pack. He could be thinking about anything else, like Michelle for instance, but I wasn’t to sure. 

I looked at Michelle realizing that she was showing significantly considering she had only been pregnant for a month. Dean must’ve seen my eyes looking at her like that because he spoke, “When a werewolf gets pregnant for another werewolf the baby develops extremely fast inside the womb. Three times as fast actually, so if you can do your math correctly that means she’ll deliver in two month.”

I looked at him blankly, knowing it made complete sense considering humans were pregnant for 9 months, if the baby develops three times faster, cut 9 into 3. 

A 3 month pregnancy. 

I figured her body could take it, she was strong, I mea she was a werewolf for Christ’s sake! I finished up my food and walked it over to the sink, Michelle catching me and I spoke, “So, are you going to find out what the sex is?”

She shook her head, “No, Dean’s hoping for a boy to continue the heir loom thing, but I don’t care what it is, as long as it’s healthy.”

I smiled, good parent’s always say that, “Any ideas for a name?”

She sighed, “Nope, me and Dean haven’t really had time to discuss it, but we still have plenty of time.”

“Two months.”

She laughed, “And it can’t come fast enough.”

I grabbed my booksack off the ground with the rest of them and spoke, “I’m driving if anyone wants to come.”

Stiles and Collin laughed as they followed me outside to my car, “You think we’re going to turn down a free ride over walking?”

I shrugged, “Figured you liked it.”

Everyone hopped in and we sped off to school, I didn’t know what to expect considering I haven’t really hung out with them inside school. I had plenty of friends though, but lately it had consisted of just me or me and the Pack.

Emma was starting to get curious.

I pulled up in the parking lot, seeing her car immediately where she usually parked. I pulled into my usual and stepped out, glancing over at Emma who was sitting in her car looking dead at me. Tess grazed me arm, “See you in Physics.”

I smiled, “Yea,” and I made my way over to Emma, wondering if I was in trouble. She stepped out of her car and I spoke, “Hey.”

She was going to give me the cold shoulder, I could feel it coming, “Hi.”

I groaned “Emma, what’s wrong?”

She closed her door to her car, “I don’t know, I was hoping you would tell me considering you’ve been hanging out with those people more than your best friend.”

I followed her into the school, trying to keep my voice down because attracting attention wasn’t an option. “Emma, it’s difficult. I mean… we’re cool, I’m friends with them.”

She rolled her eyes as we stopped at her locker, “You were friends with me first, Kate.”

I suddenly felt bad as she slammed the cold, metal door to her locker, continuing down the hall in a fit of rage. I didn’t know how to make this better but I wanted to, “Emma,” I grabbed her arm slightly, grabbing her full attention, “It’s hard to explain because I can’t tell you.”

“What can’t you tell me? I’m your best friend.”

I sighed, “I know, and I trust you with everything, but I can’t tell you because it’s going to put you in danger. I can’t lose another close friend Emma…”

“Why’s it so dangerous Kate? You’re actually starting to creep me out.”

I wanted to tell her so bad, it would make everything easier, but I knew I couldn’t, and she would just have to accept it. I tried changing the subject, “How’s you and your man?”

She blushed at that and I heard her heart rate speed up, something was going on under my nose too. I smiled as she spoke in joy, “Gabe’s amazing, have you met him?”

“Was he with us that night we went out?”

She nodded, “Yea, that’s him.”

I remembered seeing him, he’s huge, tall and muscular, he had to play football or something because he was probably as big as Dean and Collin. “So are you two a thing or…?”

She shrugged, “Well I’m not sure, we kinda are and we kinda aren’t.”

I raised my eyebrow, “Emma, have you two had sex?”

She sighed, “We hooked up once Kate, calm your tits.”

I laughed as first hour began, wondering when and if I was ever going to tell Emma the truth about me. I mean I had revealed my secret to my Math teacher, even though she had experienced it first hand, she still knew. I wanted to tell Emma, I really did, she was my best friend and I wanted her in my new life, but I didn’t want to put her life at danger.

I couldn’t lose Emma like I had lost Emily, if I did it would completely cripple me.

And I could not be weak anymore, I was a True Alpha, I had to stay strong no matter what happened.
