9. Cold
My mouth dropped.
What the hell has happened to the Angie from high school???
I was about to storm my way towards her but she saw my intentions and disappeared deep in the crowd of people.
"Hey where you going?" Jezebel grabbed my arm, "We have to hurry before the sun comes up."
"Where to?"
"I may know of a place that can help you get your position back."
I looked back at the crowd and sighed. I guess I could be useful for once and do something productive about the pack I just lost. I gave one more look back hoping to see Angie again but I lost all sights of her. Jezebel tugged on my arm so I obeyed and together we walked out. Outside was chilly and dark as we walked down the empty sidewalk of the streets. Mostly everyone was asleep except for us. I took off my leather jacket and handed it to Jezebel. She gladly accepted it. Things haven't been going so well for me. I could feel my heart hurting but I remained strong. There was no way I was going to show my weaknesses. Not now nor ever.
"Simon..."
I flinched at the call of my name and looked to my side at Jezebel but it wasn't her who spoke.
"Simon my love...answer me..."
"Oh hell no..." I growled.
"What's wrong?" Jezebel asked.
"My wife. She is driving me crazy!" I stopped walking and gave my back to Jezebel.
"What?!" I spat.
"Finally! Simon where are you? Why aren't you answering me? What are you doing? Do you miss me?"
"One question at a time," I could feel my head start to heat up.
"Why haven't you answered me?! I've been trying to mind link you for ages!" She rose her high pitch voice.
I mentally slapped my forehead and gave out a heavy sigh. The reason I left was because of her and no matter what, she still finds her way with everything. I glanced back to see a very confused Jezebel starting at me. Not only was I wasting time with Brittany, I was wasting Jezebel's time as well.
"Dude for real I told you to leave me alone. What in break did you not get?" My teeth gritted together.
"Don't you Dude me Simon," Her voice by the second was getting annoying as hell, "I'm your wife and I am worried sick about you."
I swear sometimes she sounded more like my mother than my mate. Heck, my mother doesn't do that to me.
"Um everything okay Simon?" Jezebel spoked.
"WHO IS THAT WITH YOU?! WAS THAT A WOMAN I JUST HEARD?! SIMON ANSWER ME! ARE YOU CHEATING ON ME AGAIN WITH ANOTHER WOMAN?!"
Glad she realizes the sins I do. The one thing that I like about my mate.
"I told you I needed a break," I told her.
"But why?"
"Because you are driving me insane!" I yelled.
"Okay bruh now you are starting to freak me out," Jezebel got in front of me and shook me from the shoulders.
Great. Just great. Now Jezebel thinks I am some kind of mental person yelling to himself.
"Simon how could you?!" Brittany heard Jezebel's voice again.
My phone started to buzz and quickly I pulled it out from my back pocket to see Brittany's ID name.
"I told you to leave me alone!" I answered the call.
"Then explain to me why you left me! I am slowly dying without you close to me..." She started to sob hysterically without control.
I was starting to feel her pain as well. Our bond needed us close but here I was, miles away from her. I just don't want to be with her no more. There were times I thought it could be possible to leave your mate without feeling pain. I was wrong, I needed her.
I just don't love her no more.
"I don't love you no more," My thought came out from my lips.
The phone hung up on me.
"Simon?" Jezebel asked with concern laced in her voice.
"Why are women so sensible!" I threw my phone on the concrete floor.
I killed my mate's feeling and now my fucking phone.
Before the phone died completely, a text message flashes the screen.
Britt: I'm telling my father.

Heavy snowfall came pelleting down on us as Jezebel and I blocked ourself with a statue of some kind of a bearded man. In the horizon, a long line of orange met where the land and the sky met. Day or night, all that mattered to me was to find some filthy pack that can resist me.
If I can find any that is.
"You've been quiet. Care to speak out your thoughts for me," Jezebel rose an eyebrow.
"I thought you could read minds," I rolled my eyes.
"True but once in a while I like to act normal. Know what I mean?"
"I'm worried," I admitted.
The moment of the snow storm was finally getting to its calming point. The hair on my arms stood on ends. This was the time I actually wanted to be a wolf rather than a man. Here in the city I had no choice but to remain myself.
Sadly.
"Well you got to step up your game and beat that worry in the tushy."
"What?"
"Don't let your worries bother you," she sighed.
"How can I? My mate just got her father involved in our relationship," I blocked the rising sun with my hand.
Sunlight seeped in between the fingers, signaling the new day has arrived. I don't even know how I've made it this far without actually dying.
"What's so scary about in-laws?" Jezebel snickered.
"Brittany's father is from the strongest pack there is. He had negotiated business with my father a few times before my father died. If it weren't for my mate's father...well I wouldn't be married and have six boys."
"Oh boy," Jezebel started to walk off into an alleyway with me walking in her footsteps in the snow. "And what makes him so scary that you are worried?" she asked.
"If he finds out what I've been doing to his precious daughter...lets say he will literally hunt me down."
"Hmmm," Jezebel stopped in her tracks making me bump into her. She turned back and faced me. "We have to fix your man ego a notch. Lookie here, we finally arrived."
In front of us a black van was parked in the dead end alleyway. I'm not even going to ask why this suspicious looking car is hidden in here. The window from the car rolled down to reveal a face hidden in a pair of sunglasses and a black cloak.
"What do we got here..." It roughly spoke.
"It's me Jezebel," She huffed, "I need a favor."
"Favor?" The strange man pulled his sunglasses down and stared at us with his dark purple eyes. "Don't you owe me too much already?"
"Well this time is different," she took a step forward. "He needs help and if we don't help him he is for sure going to die out here or worse, he could reveal all of us creatures hiding in the shadows. Knowing him," She glanced at me, "Is stupid enough to do it."
The man got out from the car and crunched the snow with his feet as he slowly stepped out. He took his sunglasses off and faced me with a smirk.
"Ah my Jezebel I knew you could get over of Richard one day." He came up to me and shook my hand and gave my back a slap.
"Hey who said I did?" She spat.
"Then who is this man?" He furrowed his brows together.
"His name is Simon and he is a alpha without a pack." She told him.
"A mutt?!" The man's nose slightly twitched.
"Um I prefer the term werewolf," I butted in into the conversation, "Or lycanthrope will be nice."
Jezebel pushed me aside and stood face to face with the man.
"Father...please help him out."
Father?
"Very well then," He sighed in exasperation. "As long as this will distract you from Richard, I will do as you ask."
They exchanged nods as I just stood there hugging my arms.
"Oh boy," Jezebel's father shook his head at me. "Now comes the tough part."
He tossed me over my shoulders his cloak and opened the van for us to get in. He had the same cold expression and rude attitude like Jezebel and neither of them gave a shit of me being alpha.
"Well if you want people to actually give a damn about you then you got to start acting like a real man. Just because you are married and been working with your sperm doesn't mean your a complete man," Jezebel's father's words stung me.
"Doesn't mean you get to insult me either," I spat back.
The man let out a hearty laugh and quickly frowned.
"When you get to be my age, then we will talk about respect and whatnots." He turned the engine of the car and drove out from the alley.
At least the drive in here was much smoother.
Light had already filled up the sky as the car drove in with the rest of the cars in the city. The car stopped for a few seconds in a red light. I just had to look to my side to see Angie at a bus stop, sitting on the bench.
Her light brown eyes followed me as the lights turned green and the car drove off. I looked back but she was just a mere dot in the distance.
