Paisley drove me to the company and I got off to look at the terrifyingly large and high building.
It was so tall, my eyes had lost sight of the top when it met with the sun.
I moved forward to stand in front of two guards and a huge transparent door that showed two more standing inside the building.
I took a deep breath. I and Paisley had done a little research on the Enterprise and I was shocked, scared even.
The reputation for this company was terrifyingly high, pay was more than decent and I had heard there were some good job opportunities if you worked your way up the career ladder. What was terrifying for me was that I was working as the personal secretary for the CEO. At least it will be, if I get the job.
I watched employees run about, some ladies dressed in tight pencil skirts and men in tailored suits, a few bearded men with steaming cups of tea in their hands seated by a coffee and tea shop across the building, a few women with phones pressed against their ears, eyebrows scrunched in concentration and a few others rushing, dodging the crowd, not wanting to be late for their first day of work after a boozy weekend.
I felt like the center of the spotlight since no one bumped into me.
With another exhaled breath, I stepped in and met with a blonde haired lady seated in the only available reception across the manned desk.
There were about six receptions, each busy either directing visitors to their correct floors or answering calls through their headset.
"Excuse me, uh... Miss..." I looked at the badge glued on to her suit, "Carla. I'm here for a job interview as Mr Lexus' personal secretary" I said and she shushed me while signaling to her headset, she was on a call.
After she had ended, I repeated my last quote and she raised a brow looking at me from head to toe before chuckling.
"There's no job interview and Mr Gray certainly doesn't need a personal secretary" she said, coming off as rude, "now if you could move, others need to get to their floors."
I got off while partly glaring at her.
There was no job interview? Why was I here then? I thought his sister said there was or is this some kind of joke?
Different questions swirled around my head when a suited man walked over to me.
"Miss Dove... Brown?" He asked and I nodded, "right this way" he said and got into an elevator with me trailing behind.
There were three elevators, a public elevator, VIP elevator and Private elevator.
He got into the VIP elevator and pressed the button for the 80th floor and my heartbeat increased.
There's an 80th floor? Wouldn't I fall off?
I had a fear of heights and going that high would definitely get my head swirling but after we arrived, I was perfectly fine.
There were only three doors on this floor and he led me to the door right in front and the head.
He knocked and a voice responded, "come in."
I immediately broke into a smile and he led me in.
"Miss Brown" the man said and when the man seated on the chair next to the huge window nodded, he left. I think this' the top floor.
Lexus turned to me looking as gorgeous as ever and I fidgeted with my hands while clutching my bag.
"Have a seat" he said and I nodded and hurried to the seat opposite him while taking in the office. It was huge as all you have to know and it was mostly empty with only a huge couch taking up some space.
"Mr Gray, I didn't know you would be interviewing me yourself" I said and flashed a smile when my eyes noticed his on my neck, I brushed it off.
"I'm sorry, am I late? No one else's here" I said.
"Oh... The interview was supposed to be on Friday last week but Adalyn told you wrong"
My smile dropped, "so someone else's taken the spot?"
"Not yet, the space is still vacant" he said "actually, I don't have a PA too so you would have to fill both spaces."
"Oh…"
I'm seriously under so much pressure right now.
"So Miss Brown, how are you sure you can be my Personal Secretary and Assistant?..."
I am not sure AT ALL.
"A Personal Assistant needs 6 qualities:
Communication skills
Interpersonal skills
Time management skills
Strong organization skills
Ability to multitask
And pay attention to detail.
How can you prove to me that you have these skills?" He asked, I was expecting a question about my PhD or something.
"Well, I organized a lemonade stand when I was little and talked many people into buying and I set a time for my work, run, eating, study and school when I was in highschool and I handle three jobs at the same time and I notice when Emma is lying... Which is a really good skill" I whispered, then I looked up at him, "I'm not really-" I murmured to myself but got interrupted.
"Great! You've got the job. You begin tomorrow at 7, don't be late" he said and stood up with a smile.
"What?"
"You've got the job."
"But I didn't prove anything."
"Your words did."
I was speechless, dumbfounded you could call it, I just got the job from saying those stupid things?
"Are you sure you heard what I said?"
"Loud and clear, you're the best person for this position."
"Sir, I didn't finish college, I'm not really the right person for this job" I said. I sure wanted the job but I knew I wasn't the right person for it.
"Bullshit, you're perfect. I expect to see you tomorrow Miss Brown" he said, the last sentence with a slight glare, I nodded.
"Thank you Mr Gray" I said. Another thought flew to my mind, "what about my pay?"
"Any amount you want" he replied.
Looks like today's really messing with me or my ears, I think I've got to clean up the wax now.
"I didn't quite get that sir."
"Any amount you want", I laughed.
"Good one" I lied, that was a really bad joke and it was setting my expectations high.
"I'm serious Miss Brown, any amount you wish for."
I went on laughing, "you're quite a carefree person aren't you Mr Gray?" I asked "what about one grand?" I asked, still laughing.
"Okay, per hour?" He asked and my laughter came to a halt.
Is he shitting me?
"Are you being serious Mr Gray?"
"Yes Miss Brown."
"..." I didn't know what to say, "so if I say a million per hour, you'll pay me just that?"
"Yes"
"Good benefits" I whispered "how about a hundred for every 3 consecutive hours?" I asked, I can't miss and opportunity looking me right in the eye.
"It's settled then Miss Brown" I laughed still pretty shocked.
"When are closing hours?" I ask and he chuckled.
"7am to 6pm but realistically, you never close" he said and I smiled, "don't be late" he added.
Best closing hour.
I stretched out my arm for a handshake, "it's nice meeting you, again, Mr Gray", he smiled and shook hands with me.
"I could say the same", he said "you look beautiful by the way."
I break into a deep blush and retract my hand shyly, "thank you."
I had my eyes stuck in his deep blue ones with a smile and saw his eyes flicker, from blue to gray and gray to blue. It was beautiful.
I wonder if blue eyed people had that type of trait.
His eyes turned gray and stuck to my neck for more than a glance until it returned to blue and he looked away.
I turned to take my leave to see that guy waiting for me behind the door.
He led me to the VIP elevator and took me down.
The receptionist eyed me and I smirked at her while mouthing- "I got the job!"
