"Yeah, I really like that bag, my husband's giving me his credit card tomorrow and I'm absolutely buying it" one of my friends said.

I remained quiet in the corner knowing I couldn't afford any of the items here.

We are in a Gucci store my friends forced us to go to so they could humble-brag.

My phone rang in my purse and I quickly pulled it out as one of my friends was about to as me a question.

"Yes hello?"

"Momma, big bro is dying" I heard Emma's voice say in the middle of tears.

"What?!"

"S-some people came in and... And they beat him up and-and- it's- all that D-d-dove's fault, she got a boyfriend and he beat big bro up. His head is bleeding, his nose is bleeding, he's bleeding from his mouth... Everywhere's bleeding and he isn't breathing well. Momma come home quick, he's dying!!"

My phone fell to the floor and they all turned their heads to me but I couldn't care less, I ran out the door not bothering to pick up my phone.

I called a taxi and got in.

"Move!! Don't you know how to drive?! What is wrong with you?!!! This is an emergency!! Drive, you good-for-nothing!!" I yelled and the driver halted the car

"I don't accept passengers like you! Get off my car" he said and I stammered

"I'm- I'm sorry please, it's really an emergency, my son is dying-"

"I said get out old lady!!"

"Please, I'll- I'll pay you double the price, triple, anything please!"

He got out and opened up his door to drag me out.

"I would have driven you there if you hadn't called me a good-for-nothing" he said and drove away.

"You aren't!! It was a mistake!! Please! I beg you!" But he was long gone

I was stranded, in the middle of a bustling road, with no phone, no taxis around and about 15 minutes away from home.

I decided to walk on foot but with my laziness and strength, it would take 30 minutes to get there. I ran with tears streaming down my eyes.

He's my only son. I can't lose him... It's all that Dove's fault, if I don't stab her today then I'm not worthy of being called a mother.

Lexus and his sister (don't tell anyone, I've forgotten her name) left and I was alone on the bed with Sophia seated next to me.

"So when am I leaving?" I asked

"Tomorrow" she replied and turned to me, "who was that dude?"

"Oh you mean Lexus? The guy we met at the mall?"

"Yeah, who else?"

"Well, he saved me from getting beaten to death,"

"I know that"

"He's one hunk of a guy"

"Hot! With a capital H"

"How did he save me even, I've never met him before and yet he did"

"I thought you knew him. He was the one stalking us with the Rolls-Royce, he said he wanted to see you to ask confidential questions"

"Confidential questions? Like I should apply for the job?"

"It's a job request? What job?"

"A personal secretary. His sister said he's the president of an Enterprise and he needs a personal secretary and sees me as the best fit for the job"

"What's the pay?"

"I dunno but I assume it'll be high... Gray Enterprises"

"Well, look who's lucky" said Sophia then she paused "....... Wait, wait, wait! Stop! Freeze! Pause! Everything! Do you mean Gray Enterprises as in the Gray Gray Enterprises?"

"Yes, at least I think so, how many Gray Enterprises are there?"

"One! Dove, one! And you just got a job there... As the CEO's personal secretary"

"So it's like a big Enterprise"

"Uh a-duh", Sophia looked her dead in the eye "they literally specialize in everything, clothes, makeup, shoes, food, literally everything Dove. Ya have to tell me, how did you get that job?"

"I actually am as surprised as you are. Figured, his sister liked me and gave me the job. I'm not really sure what duties I have to oblige... I guess it's just luck on my side"

"This is more thank luck!! I bet they'll pay you a million per year"

"Do you understand what I'm saying Soph? I do not know the duties of a secretary, I barely passed college... I was a drop out"

"Oh it's easy, it's the exact duties of a PA"

"So what are the duties of a PA?"

"Schedule meetings and manage calendars.
Answer phone calls and emails.
Take accurate note at meetings.
Help with daily time management.
Run errands.
Book reservations and plane tickets... Bla bla bla, bla bla bla"

"What about coffee?"

"Yeah, you'll also have to get him coffee but some bosses can be very cocky and arrogant, but I don't think he's like that. You need to get me some of 'em luck"

We both laughed over it and talked.

The Next Day...

I decided to live with Paisley for the time being.

"Anyone home?" I asked, I had a spare key to her apartment and had gotten in to find everywhere quiet but I didn't fail to notice the broken glasses, vase, flipped table and every other mess, "what the hell happened here?"

I moved to Paisley's room to hear sobs echoing.

I opened up the door and was greeted with the biggest mess I've seen in the entirety of my life.

"What happened?" I moved to squat beside Paisley who held a picture and had her face stuffed in her bed.

There were chocolate wrappers and tissues everywhere.

"D-dove? W-w-what are you doing here?" She asked

"What happened to you?" I asked and her mind rebooted going back to the reason she was crying and she burst into tears.

"It's Bryan..." She cries and cried for a long time before explaining what happened "we had a fight and he admitted to cheating on me, he said I was stupid and just a game and all that. We ended just like that!! All those happy times we had!! I was a fool to fall for him!" She screamed

"And you didn't beat him up?" I asked, baffled

Paisley and Bryan had been a thing since forever and she had thought she found THE ONE. I had been expecting a wedding invitation for a long time. She brought him over all the time, he and I were not really on close terms since we definitely didn't click but I beared with it for her. She was honestly obsessed with him and hearing about this broke my heart for her, she was my best friend.

"You are a lot of things Paisley but not a game!" I said, I was playing the role of encouragement today

"Oh yeah? What about stupid? I was definitely stupid!"

I was silent, I couldn't say I didn't tell her I didn't like the guy, "you might have been stupid but... He's the stupid one for loosing a gem like you and yes, you are a fool sometimes, not knowing left from right but... But... He doesn't know that!"

"Oh shut up! You don't know how to comfort someone", she smiled for a while and I smiled too before she burst into tears.

"I should have known! I should have known, there was no sparks anymore, that look in his eyes wasn't there anymore. I should have known!!"

After comforting her with my stupid words that might have cost her more tears, she finally shut up and I told her my story.

"Oh my God!! And you didn't call to tell me?"

"I wasn't with my phone"

"So he's that hot? And he punched Mason, for you?" I nodded, "looks like you're getting a romance story finally in your life, I can picture it already," she waved her hand in the air "office romance. It's gonna be named, CEO and Personal Secretary", I laughed and she looked at me and cried.

"It's okay already!" I said frustrated

"You don't know how it feels like"

The Next Week's Monday

I was still at the pack-house. I walked out of my room and met Adalyn outside.

She patted my shoulder, "go get her bro and don't make a fool out of yourself. Also, I would suggest you fire Ivan for now so he won't meddle in. Well, I have to leave now", she side-hugged me

I ruffled her head and smiled, "I'll miss you"

"I will too but Mark's already having a rough time dealing with Nicole" she said, "oh she's here right now"

"Uncle Lexus" I heard a childish voice say from behind Adalyn.

"Nicole, how are you?"

"Everything's fine with me uncle, how about you?" She asked and walked over to me, I was surprised to see her without her eyes stuffed in her iPad.

"As usual"

"Mother" she nodded to her and Adalyn pulled her over into a hug.

"I've missed you"

Nicole was ten-years-old and yet she acted like a twenty-five-year-old, had the mind of a thirty-two-year-old and looked like an eight-year-old.

She hugged her mother in return.

"Father had been a handful to deal with, he thinks of you everyday and constantly bothers me with it"

Adalyn laughed.

She turned to me and nodded before turning back, "don't hold my mother for too long, my father might be my death if you do" she says walking away. We laughed

"You look great Lexus, there's no need to be on edge" Adalyn said and I cocked an eyebrow, "just be yourself, don't be weird and I know this might be difficult but... Resist the urge to mark her for some time", I nodded

She smiled when I heard a voice down the corridor, "so you found your mate dear son, and you didn't tell me" I heard her say, my mom, she came towards us and squished Adalyn in her arms before looking up at me.

"Finally, what pack is she from? Which Alpha is her father? when is she coming?" She asked with an excited smile

"Not right now mom, she's... Human" I replied

"What? You can get a human mate?"

"Apparently yes" replied Adalyn and my mom just stood there looking up at me.

"Are you sure she can be the Luna?" She asked and I growled.

"Of course she can!" I replied half growling and half screaming.

"But... How are going to get her to accept you? And willingly come to become the Luna?"

"I'm working on it"

She was panicking, "what if she re-" I interrupted her

"I do not accept any ideas encouraging that"

She hummed, "I trust you son" she said while patting my arm.

"Let's go down for breakfast now, the pack's all down" she said.

"I'll eat at a restaurant later mom, I have to go"

"At least stay for breakfast," she urged

"He's excited to see his mate today, just let him leave. I'm staying tho" said Adalyn

"How?" My mom asked

"She's his personal secretary"

"Okay, I have to leave, I'll see you later tonight" I said and headed down but didn't approach the dining room.

I was in my car with Ivan when I turned to him.

"I think it's time you go on a vacation" I said and his head immediately whipped to me.

"Whaaaaaaaaaaaaaaat? You serious?"

"Yes"

Then he laughed, "you don't know jokes man, but I can still laugh"

I ignored his childishness, "which? Hawaii? Barbados?"

"Are you for real right now?"

"I am serious"

He squealed, "when?"

"You can leave right now, for a year"

"..." He processed things, "are you firing me?"

"No"

"Then why would I get a vacation for year?"

"Because I have someone else filling in for your responsibilities and I don't want to fire you just yet"

"You got another PA?(⁠｡⁠ŏ⁠﹏⁠ŏ⁠)"

"You could say that"

"You're replacing me and admitting to it?"

"Yes"

"What do I mean to you?" I ignored him "....... But do I still get the vacation?" His mood switched instantly

"Yes"

He stopped the car and got off, "I'm heading to Hawaii, don't call me!!" He said and picked up his phone.
