Chapter 26

Bryce POV:

I look down at the beautiful girl napping in my arms. Her hair falls in soft curls down her back, it's slightly messy from our earlier actions. She is all mine now.

I glance at the clock on my nightstand and sigh. I know I have to get back to work. I need to figure out what I'm going to do with all these rogues and Froam. Ugh, Froam. He got away.

My wolf paces back and forth in my head and let's out a vicious snarl. I hate that man, and I will kill him if it's the last thing I do. I slowly get up and out of bed, carful not to wake Kari.

I go slip on a pair of boxers, shorts and a T-shirt. When I'm done I head to my door. Before I leave I look back at the angel sleeping. I smile to myself. She's absolutely perfect, anyone who tries to hurt her is going to die.

I walk out of the room and gently shut the door. I proceed to walk down the hallway then down the stairs to my office. When I enter, Macy's desk is empty. I sit down in my chair and think.

Theses guys that helped my pack are rogues. My gut tells me I can't trust them but they helped save Kari's life. Even though I just want them gone it is really Kari's decision. She actually knows these guys.

I sigh and run a hand through my hair. The real decision is what do I do about Froam. Every time I try to attack him he disappears into thin air, leaving me behind in smoke. How can I beat someone who can't be touched. Just then I hear a knock on the door.

"Come in." I say loudly.

The door opens slowly and I see a serious looking Trent. It seems like ages since I have last seen my brother, and now he wants to talk to me?

"Hi Bryce. I was thinking back, and I know what I did was wrong. It's just, mom was the only one who actually cared for me and I wanted to do anything to save her... Turns out she was just going to die anyway." He says and looks down.

"I'm glad that you're finally realizing this but I'm not the one you should be apologizing to, it's Kari. Obviously I want to be there though when you do apologize to her." I say. Even though he wants to apologize I don't know if he actually wants to or if he is scheming again.

Trent shakes his head. "I know that, but that's not why I'm here." He says suddenly. I give him an odd look.

"Why are you here then?" I ask him. He sighs.

"I heard you were having trouble with the leader of the rogue pack. I heard that he can teleport. I think I know a way to beat him." I raise an eyebrow.

"Sit and tell me about it." I say and gesture my hand toward the seat in front of my desk.

He takes and seat and looks at me. I nod telling him he can begin, "okay well I know this brings up bad memories but do you remember how I fooled Kari?" I think for a moment, then the charm bracelet pops into my head.

"Yeah, you fooled her with that stupid charm bracelet thing." I say. He nods his head.

"The thing is, it was a normal bracelet until I had a witch put a spell on it. Turns out witches have many spells that affect werewolves strongly. I'm sure there is a spell that will prevent a werewolf from using its special ability, just like wolf bane stops us from shifting." He says. I smirk, he is right. If we can find a spell then we have a chance.

"Trent I want you to take me to the witch tomorrow." I say sternly. He scratches his head and looks at his feet.

"Yeah see the thing is, she doesn't really like visitors so I'm going to have to go alone." I look at him with a serious face.

"Trent you're not trying to fool us again are you?" I say. He shakes his head no.

"I swear. I really want to make up for what I have done. Plus it takes a whole day to drive down there so I will be gone for two days at a minimum. I don't think you want to be away from your mate that long." He says. I think about it for a moment. Honestly what is there to lose? How can he hurt us in this situation? I really do hope he is trying to help us though.

"Trent I'm going to trust you. Don't betray me. Please do it as fast as possible, okay?" I say. Trent nods and stands from his seat.

"I will see you in two days, I'm just going to go pack." He say and walks out the door.

When the door closes behind him I let out a frustrated sigh. This could work, and I really want to trust Trent, but can I? After what he did? Granted, he's not nearly as bad as Froam, but he still intended to hurt Kari.

If this works and he can't transport then I think I can beat him. Sure he leads a large pack, but he thinks no one can touch him because of his powers. That makes me believe he doesn't work out or even try to stay fit. If that's the case then hopefully I will defeat him with ease. Either way, I will defeat him.

I stand from my chair and head for the door. I'm going to make a quick run around the perimeter of my land to check for intruders and release some of my stress about Froam.

I exit through the back door and head to the woods. I approach the tree that I normally change behind and take off my clothing and close my eyes.

I let out a deep breath and allow the soothing sensation of my shift to take over. When I open my eyes everything is more vibrant and beautiful. I run and begin the trek along my boarders.

When I'm finally done I find that there are no intruders. I slow my panting wolf down when I begin to approach the house. I walk behind my tree and just put my shorts back on. What's the point of putting on the shirt when I'm going to sweat through it anyway?

I walk through the back door and walk toward my room. On my way I pass my office door and see that Jamie and Macy are in there talking. I back track and then enter my office. I hear their talking but don't manage to make out any words they are saying. "What's going on in here?" I say.

They stop talking and look up at me. Macy smiles then says, "Well I'm kind of hungry, I will see you guys later!" She stands and hurries past me. I look at Jamie puzzled.

"I don't know why she is acting like that." He says with a shrug. "I came here to say something that is important to me Bryce." He says seriously. Jamie's never really serious about anything, why is he acting so mature lately?

"Well what is it?" I say urging him to tell me. He sighs.

"I want the rogues out. They can't be here anymore Bryce, even though they helped us they can't stay." I raise my eyebrow at him. Okay now this is weird. Jamie is always accepting of people, he's that nice kid that gets along with everybody.

"Jamie, it's not our decision. We don't know these people but Kari does. We can't just judge them when we don't know them." I say sternly. He stands up and gives me angry eyes.

"Kari doesn't know them like Ashley does. And if you want me to stay in this pack, then they have to go. It's either them or me because I am not allowing my mate to hang around the people who abused her her whole life." He says furiously. My eyes widen in shock.

I had no idea Ashley was abused. "I'm sorry Jamie I had no clue that she was being abused..." I run my hand through my hair and sigh. "Unfortunately I still need to talk to Kari. They did save her life. I will try my best to convince her that they should live somewhere else though." I say. His eyes sadden a little but he nods. He stands from his chair.

"Thanks for trying Bryce." He says. And leaves the room. I let out a frustrated groan.

Damn I can never make people happy. I really do want to leave this decision up to Kari because they saved her, but Jamie's my best friend and I don't want him to leave.

Why does this situation have to be like this? I think I'm just going mention it to Kari and we can make the decision together. That way I can try to persuade her into allowing them to leave. I look down and see I still have a ton of paper work that I still have to do.

I sigh loudly and begin to fumble through the mess on my desk. "Hey." I hear a beautiful voice say. I smile and look up to see my gorgeous mate standing there looking beautiful as ever.

"Hey gorgeous." I say back to her. She smiles widely and walks over to me. She sits on my lap and looks at the papers on my desk.

"Is this all the stuff you have to do?" I sigh and nod my head. She laughs. "Well that sucks... But guess what!" She says excitedly.

"What?" I say curiously. She fidgets on my lap and moves so that she is now straddling me. My wolf moans and my friend becomes a little excited. I know Kari felt it because her face blushes a little and I can smell her turn on. Weird I know but her scent accentuates when she's in heat. I'm sure most unmated males in the vicinity can smell her.

"Well I uh...." I feel her move a little more and my wolf growls and urges me to take her right now on the table. Damn that would be hot. "Um yeah I forgot..." She says and looks at me with lust filled eyes. I return the gaze and slowly lean my head in to kiss her.

Our lips meet and move in perfect harmony. I can sense that Kari is getting more and more turned on by the minute. She reaches down and run her hands under my shirt so that she is touching my six pack. I growl into the kiss and she begins to trace my abs.

A light cough sounds from the doorway and I let out a frustrated growl. Kari laughs and hops off of my lap with cheeks that are blazing red. I look up to see Mimi standing at the door. She laughs then clears her throat.

"Anyway," she says and gives us a funny look. "Kari, Evie has been looking for you everywhere. I told her I would see if you were here." She looks between Kari and me. "It's a good thing that I came and not her." She says with a laugh.

Now that I think about it, Kari hasn't seen Evie since before she got taken. Honestly I haven't been paying attention to time so I don't even know how long that it has been.

"Wow.... I guess it has been a while. I was so caught up in everything, I don't know how she slipped my mind." Kari says sadly and looks down. I slip my hand in hers to comfort her.

"It's fine you have been under a lot of stress. I'm sure she will understand Kari. I would go see her now though." I say to her gently. She smiles and looks to Mimi.

"Where is she?" Kari asks her. Mimi smiles.

"She was just in the kitchen, you might still be able to catch her there." Mimi heads out the door and Kari follows.

Before she leaves the room she turns to me, "We can continue later Bryce." She winks and leaves.

I smirk as she heads out the door. My wolf and I both groan from the images running through my mind. No! Stop! I need to focus.

I need to think about Froam and this paper work. I look down at my desk and sigh. Who would have thought that an Alpha would have so much paperwork.

I run a hand through my hair and get working. This is going to take me a while.

Evelyn's POV:

"Is Kari in here?" I say as I walk into the kitchen. I see a few familiar heads turn to me. One of them is Macy. With her is another girl and a boy the same age.

"No I haven't, why?" Macy says as she stands up and walks over to me. A frown forms on my face and I let out a frustrated sigh.

"Because I have been looking everywhere for her! I haven't seen her in so long, I miss her." Tears begin to form in the brink of my eyes. Macy looks behind her at her friends then back at me.

"Well we can help you find her." Macy says . I look up at her with teary eyes.

"Really? You mean it?" I say sweetly. That would help me so muh, I have been searching for her since I woke up, she's no where to be seen!

"Of course we mean it." She stands then looks at her two friend, "okay I'm going up stairs to look, Mimi you check this floor and Pauly you go check the gym area." They both nod and stand. Macy turns back to me and smiles, "You just wait here Evelyn. We will have your sister back here in no time!"

I smile brightly, "Thank you so much Macy." She laughs and pats my head.

"It's no problem!" She adds then walks out of the kitchen. I sit for a moment then let out a sigh.

I'm not even looking for her right now, what if I can find her but they can't! I hop out of my seat, walk toward the doorway and out into the hallway. I mean its not like I should sit there and just wait.

I look left and see Mimi walking that way so I quickly run to the back door and open it. I peek my head out and see two old couples sitting and talking to one another. I walk out completely and shut the door behind me. I walk around the pack house but I don't see Kari anywhere. I guess I should check the woods then.

I walk toward the woods, as soon as I enter the tree line a stinging pain shoots through my head. I fall to the ground and close my eyes tightly.

Just then an image pops up in my mind. There's a man who's surrounded by other men and they are in the woods. They are talking, I decide to take a step closer. I hear mumbling but no actual words. I look behind the man and see they are all standing in front of a river. The river kinda looks like the one I saw on my adventures with Bryce. Suddenly the image is gone and so is my headache.

I rest my head on the ground and look up at the sky. I have seen that man before, but where?

"Evie? Is that you?" I hear Kari's voice yell from the house. I lift my head off the ground and wave at her.

"Yeah it's me!" I stand up and run to her. I jump and hug her. She hugs me back and laughs.

She gently places me down and gives me an apologetic look. "Evie I'm so sorry I haven't seen you in a while..." She says.

I let out a sigh but shrug, "It's okay, you're here now." She grabs my hand.

"What were you doing out here anyway." She says and leads me toward the house.

"I was looking for you, but then something weird happened." I say. She gives me a strange look.

"What do you mean something weird happened?" She asks me. I look straight ahead.

"Well I've been having weird dreams, and now one just happened while I was awake." I hear nothing so I look up at Kari and see her giving me a confused look.

"What was in the dream?" She asks me.

"Well there was this guy... And I think he's the one from my other dreams, you know the dreams with you in them. Anyway, he was surrounded by men and they were talking in front of a river, I think it was the one we have in our woods... That was it." I say with a shrug. We walk into the house.

"Hmm, that is strange..." She says. She looks confused.

"Oh and why did Bryce come ask me about my dreams? He wanted to know everything that I could remember..." I say. Kari stops walking and looks at me.

"Wait, he did what?" She asks. Oh I guess she doesn't know why he asked me then...

"Yeah he asked about my dream then told me to stay with Polly. I agreed but I didn't know why he did that." Then I squint my eyes and place my hands on my hips. "Where have you been the past few days anyway?" I say sternly.

Kari looks shocked for a moment but quickly composed herself. "It doesn't matter where I was, but I need to talk to Bryce and see why he asked you about your dreams..." She ponders on her thoughts for a moment. I just allow her to think.

I don't know why she won't tell me where she was, but I know I shouldn't ask anymore. She looks stressed. Finally she must have given up because she lets out a sigh and grabs my hand.

"I will deal with it later, anyway what would you like to do." I smile.

"Well I've only been in the game room once, so do you want to play Mario Kart?"

"Of course I do! We used to play that game all the time with mom." She says happily. We race each other to the game room. I make it there before her, but as soon as I touch the door she is right there behind me. When we look in, we see that no one is in there. "Okay you get the game and I will set up the console." She says.

I skip over to the wii games and grab one of the Mario Kart games. Wow it has been so long since I played a video game. Rosie just likes to play with dolls, so I don't get to play video games often.

I walk back over to Kari and hand her the video game. She takes it from me and motions for me to go sit on the couch. On my way over to the couch, I grab two wii remotes and the wheel accessories.

Once she sets the game up, we pick our players and get absorbed into a fantasy world where it's my team against her team.
