Chapter 24
- Mr. Pizza Man -

*unedited*
- Clover -

Being extra carefully not to be heard, I leaned over closer to Denziels ear. "Do you think he's going to find her in time?"

It was safe to remind myself for future references that this boy had no sense of what an inside voice was, let alone how to whisper. "Not a chance, then again in movies like this spontaneous shit happens when all hope is lost".

Everyone watching the movie groaned and cursed out their frustrations.

"Denziel. Clover. Shut. Up".

I instantly shut my mouth. Cleon along with everyone else were serious this time. However, after a moment of silence with the only sound coming from the on going movie, Denziel and I shared a look and I couldn't help ourselves.

We both bursted into a fit of laughter.

"Seriously, you guys been doing this the entire movie" Mia said throwing a handful of popcorn at us.

It only made us laugh more while Patrick reached for the remote to pause the movie for the third time tonight. However, this time around it was taking us a lot longer to collect ourselves.

We were like the two best friends in school that teachers would always have to separate because we didn't know how to behave when we were together.

It didn't help that we were more than a little buzzed. In a room full of couples, and with us two being the only single ones, we were like partners in crime.

"Sorry" I whispered as tears rolled from my eyes.

"Clover your drunk, give me the wine".

Heidi tried to take the bottle away but I quickly held it out of her reach. "I promise I'll behave!" I shouted. Before I knew it Blair closed in on the other side, successfully stealing it away.

I pouted like a child. I had just finished my glass a couple of seconds ago and now had nothing to sip on for the rest of the night. The least they could've done was poured me one last glass.

"It's okay, let them have it. I'll meet you in the kitchen in 10 minutes" Denziel tried whispering to me.

Denziel was on the same drunken boat as me but no one was trying to stop him from drinking.

"You go first and I'll follow. It'll be too suspicious if we leave together".

Cleon laughed, "You guys are idiots".

"We can all hear you" Patrick informed us.

"They're annoying and I'm so lost with this whole movie because of them. I don't even wanna see the ending of it" Heidi wined pulling Cleon closer to snuggles herself into his chest.

"Awe poor baby" Denziel mocked her tone.

"Wait. Wait. Wait".

I shrugged to stand on my own two feet, but with a little help and support from Denziel I stood talk facing everyone. "You think we're annoying?" I asked drunkly pointing between Denziel and I "but they aren't?"

Nola and Oscar didn't even realize I was talking about them.

They've literally spent the whole movie whispering to one another and exchanging subtle kisses. They probably didn't even know what movie we were watching.

"And how about Jordan? He's been texting throughout the whole thing" I screamed catching the attention of the boy that's been distracted by his phone this entire time. "Who can you be texting? Blair is right next to you".

I guess my little rant seemed to be funny because everyone started to laugh.

"I'll be right back" Jordan said as he hopped up from his seat and headed out the front door.

"Movie break" I sang. "I'm gunna pee" I said as Denziel disappeared into the kitchen.  I pranced my way in the same direction.

"The bathroom is the other way" Patrick yelled behind me.

His comment went completely unanswered as I continued following Denziel to the kitchen to retrieve the wine I craved.

I wasn't sure how long Jordan was gone, but it must've been for a while. All within the time that he was gone, everyone who needed to use the bathroom went. We finished what was left of the popcorn and the pizza we ordered about a half hour ago was in route to the apartment.

My phone buzzed and I looked at it thinking it was a phone call but it was a text message from Jonathan.

Jonathan: I'll pick you up by 6:30 tomorrow. What's you address.

I small smile worked it's way on to my lips as I texted him back with my address.

Even though I wasn't looking forwards to the date originally, I had all weekend to think about it and decided that I had nothing to lose.

He was a nice guys so far. Had a good job, and with having a kid at such an early age, life has matured him beyond his age.

This could actually be something great.

"What could be great?" Patrick asked, overhearing the conversation I thought I was having in my head.

"Oh nothing".

Jordan finally came back and my phone started to ring this time around. Retrieving the device from my back pocket, I answered the phone without looking at the caller I.D..

Everyone who was part of my social life, with an exception of my brother was scattered all around my apartment. Therefore, the only other person that would be call me is the pizza delivery man.

"Hola pizza man, are you here?"

There was silence on the other end. Maybe the pizza guy don't speak Spanish.

"Clover..." the pizza guy, cleared his throat. "It's me...umm Demarco" the pizza guy said.

Wait, Demarco was a pizza delivery man? My Demarco? The same man that seems to never want to see or talk to me.

Strange enough, the pizza delivery man had the same exact voice as my Demarco minus the scratch, nervous like tone.

What a coincidence.

Before I could open my mouth and possibly say something else that wasn't so bright, the delivery man spoke first.

"Lucky charm, are still there?"

My previously hazy world started to realign. My heart accelerated again for the first time in over two weeks and the butterflies that I only got when speaking to one person in this world return.

I could hear his breathing from over the phone, waiting for me to respond.

No one in the room was paying attention to me, not until my phone slipped from my hand and crashed onto the kitchen floor.
