Chapter Eleven

First book ^^

I have decided that from now on, due the amount of incredible comments you guys leave me, I'm going to pick a top commenter from the last chapter!

The reason I want to do this, is because your comments mean so much to me! And I really want to cement that fact for you guys.

My top commenter last chapter is LuliTeixeira because she has really got into the book, and left a whole novel basically in the comments, so I felt obliged to thank her for that (:

I sit silently, staring out the window. Coen sits in the drivers seat, sitting calmly at fifty miles an hour. (I have no clue how miles work by the way)

I can't believe this is happening right now. Kaden has ordered me to be escorted to the Power Pack, for me to start my mission. If you can even call it that...

"How much longer?" I ask, breaking the silence that had settled between us hours ago. We neighbour the Power Pack, yet are so far from them. I can even feel my legs begin to cramp up.

"Not long," he mutters. Not long? Great elaboration.

Coen is awfully silent on our ride. It's unnerving...The reason seems obvious, so I decide I need to investigate further.

"What do you think about this mission?" I question apprehensively. The word mission tastes sour in my mouth. What kind of mission involves killing an unborn child? Maybe I should ask a Discipline Pack member, since they are usually the only ones who do this sort of thing.

Coen's jaw clenched at my words, his fingers seeming to grip the steering wheel. The sigh that comes out of his mouth doesn't seem angry, but extremely depressed. I can only imagine how he is feeling right now.

"It doesn't matter what I think," he mutters. It's as if he shuts down from that point. I have ever wanted to look inside someone's mind so much before. The brooding look in his eyes gives me a curious edge.

Immediately upon arrival at the Power Pack, we are let in. At first I assumed that they would force us to stop and check out ID at the very least. This is supposed to be the most Powerful Pack, that ensures it stays that way.

I give Coen a questioning glance. "They know this is Kaden's car."

We drive in. Immediately I'm struck with the sight of the place. The large wall the separates the Pack from the outside world did a good job of concealing the treasures hidden inside...

The road we drive onto is surrounded by exotic greenery. I only find such plants foreign because I haven't grown up here, but admittedly it is so different here to any Pack I've ever seen. But what really drives in the differences between Packs, is the security mulling around.

Even as we continue driving, we can't seem to shake them.

"Where exactly are we heading?" I ask, meeting the gaze of one of the guards as we drive past. The stone cold glaze over his eyes makes me shiver; it's obvious to see how serious they take their jobs.

"To Alpha Landon's estate at the edge of the Pack," Coen informs me. My heart skips a beat. After being cooped up back in the Purity Pack all my life, I can safely say this is my first adventure. Winding the window down, I realise that even the soft air that kisses my skin is different.

"Isn't that on the edge of a cliff?" I ask, trying to remember my Geography classes back at school.

Coen nods slowly. "The same cliff Althea threw Kace off."

Thinking for a moment, I realise that Althea is the girl Kace said he was in love with...I glance at Coen, but he doesn't seem fazed with telling me this.

"Kace loved her...Your mate," I find my unfiltered mouth say. Coen's eyebrows raises, and he speeds up a bit, making me grip my seat.

"You'll see why soon."

Driving deeper into the Pack, towns begin to appear. Everything here is so open, which obviously signifies the enhanced security.

It takes us around an hour to even get close to Landon's main territory. Strangely enough, the closer to this side of the Pack means less security. Do they think he can look after himself? This makes me shiver.

Suddenly Coen swerves, nearly making me smack my head against my glass window. He comes to a stop at the side of the road, turning the car off. I blink a few times.

"You will have to walk from here. Do you know what you're saying?" Coen questions. For a moment I almost see a glimpse of Kaden within his eyes. Slowly, I find myself nodding.

"I think I'm lost. I can't remember who I am, or even my name," I say. The words sound so uniform coming out of my mouth; something Kaden came up with only hours ago.

Coen nods approvingly.

To my surprise he gets out of the car also, making me follow suit. He scales the car, making it to my side.

"We need to make it look as if you've been through a lot of shít," he mumbles. He suddenly grabs my T shirt sleeve, and rips it clean off at the seam. Yelping, I push him away from me, caressing my bare arm.

"Are you kidding?" I hit angrily. The breeze brushes up my arm, making me shiver with annoyance. Coen grinned, looking as if he truly enjoyed doing that.

Dropping the piece of now scrap material, he grabbed my arm and began to drag me further away from the road. He stopped only a few metres from the car, where a shallow drain had been dug out. It was filled with murky water, which I eyed carefully.

Coen knelt down, dunking his hand into the water, surfacing an extensive amount of mud and sticks with him. He turned to me, his hand covered in derby from the drain. The look on his face is unmistakably devious.

"What are you doing with that," I question nervously, making sure my gaze stays on his hand so he doesn't try anything shirty.

"I need to make it look as if you've trekked for miles..."

"Don't you dare-"

He launches forward; his hand a weapon of mass destruction. I scream, feeling him run is down half my face, and neck. Pushing him away was easy enough, once he was handicapped by laugher.

"You're disgusting," I shout at him. The feeling of mud clung to my face and neck made me want to gag. Coen, on the other hand, found this absolutely amusing.

"I'm disgusting?" You should see yourself," he laughs through laughter. I clench my jaw, stopping myself from hurling profanities his way.

Coen bent over, grabbing a handful of grass. "Run this on your legs or something...You don't look lost enough."

"I'll show you lost," I grumble, back take the grass. Despite the itch it gives my skin, the grass stains on my legs look mildly better than the disaster that is my face.

Once I had finished making myself look I just stepped out of forest after living in one my whole life, Coen nodded in disapproval.

" I accept...wait." He leads forward, ruffling my hair. I glare at him. "Done."

"Now what?" I ask. Coen points down the long road. It seems to go on forever, without a destination in sight. Staring at it, I sigh in resignation.

"I have to walk, don't I?"

Coen nods, stepping back toward the car. Exasperated, I watch Coen get into the car, and turn it on. He winds the window down.

"Have a fun walk. Kaden will see you tonight." And with that, he drives off, leaving a cloud of dust in my face. Coughing, I swing my hands around, trying to rid of it.

This is going to be a long walk.

By the time the estate comes into sight, I'm close to passing out. The air around here is so different, and suffocating. I just want to get inside so I can shower this dirt and grass off my body.

Surprisingly, the gates to Alpha Landon's home isn't locked, but wide open. There aren't even guards around. Nervously, I stroll through, waiting for someone to jump out at me and drag me off to prison.

A smooth path leads me up toward the front door. The whole place is more extravagant then I deemed necessary, but I suppose the best for an Alpha is the only option.

It takes a few moments for me to gain enough confidence to knock on the door. The sound echoes, making me jump.

When it swings open, I'm surprised by who I see at the door. I expected a guard, or even the Alpha himself, instead I was faced with a girl not much older than me.

She frowned when she saw me, looking me up and down with confusion.

"Who are you?" She asks, in that unfamiliar Power Pack accent. I took a deep breath.

"You're Althea," I find myself saying. She nods slowly.

"You didn't answer my question," she says, a little sourly. I look down. The fact that she is pregnant is obvious. It makes my heart skip a beat. In there, is the baby I'm supposed to murder...

"I don't know who I am."

❤️••❤️

So...Althea.

What do you all think is going to happen next? I'm curious to see...
