~Faye

"Have you forgiven me?"

Ignoring him, I continue on my walk through the stacks, my eyes scanning for exactly what I'm looking for. I'm not sure what it is yet, but hopefully I will know when I see it. Cal follows behind me, right on my heels. If I had a little bit less self restraint, I may have turned around and slapped him.

"I'm busy right now Cal," I mutter irritably. In all honest, he's the last person I want to see or talk to right now.

"Come on," he says, grabbing my arm. I flinch away from his grasp. "Faye."

I whirl around, holding the spot where he had grabbed. It burns slightly, which is most probably from my searing anger toward him. Perhaps it's unjustified and a little petty, but for whatever reason, my mind repulses the sight of him.

"Are you really going to touch me right now?" I question, my eyebrows furrowing. He holds his hands up defensively, showing he isn't about to try touch me again.

"You know for a fact that what happened in that dream wasn't my fault," he says.

I'm almost positive what he did in that dream was no fault but my own. No, it's the fault of who is controlling my mind. Yet still, when I look into those eyes, no matter how sincere they may seem, I shiver. It's a cold, creeping shiver that travels through my bloodstream. I will shake it off eventually. I hope.

"I just need some space right now," I tell him, lowering my voice slightly. I may be the Alpha, but it doesn't mean I'm any less afraid of the Librarian here. "There's so much on my mind."

"Like what?"

I ignore him for a moment, continuing to look at the titles printed along the spines of all these books. None of them hint at exactly what I need. It's such a frustrating feeling, since I need this desperately. Cal continues to follow me.

"You really are annoying, aren't you?" I sigh, pausing to examine a dark green covered book, pulling it out to flip its pages open.

"I'm just trying to help," he muses, glancing over my shoulder. "What are you looking for?"

"None of your business."

"Faye," he stays sternly.

I sigh through my nose. "I'm looking for a book. On potions."

So far, no matter how much I dig around this place, there is a severe lack of legitimate potions. When I think I found the one I'm looking for, it's just apart of some kind of folklore. It's gotten to the point where I'm either going to pull my hair out, or Cal's. Somehow the latter seems more appealing.

"That doesn't sound so good," he notices, "what do you need a potion for?"

"I need something that will get someone drunk," I say distractedly, sliding the useless green book back into its place, moving on down the stack.

"Ah, alcohol does exist..." he reminds me.

I roll my eyes. "That won't work. Not on an immortal."

My plan is almost pure evil. To me it is, at least. But it needs to happen. I need to kiss T, and while he is in a relationship, that's not happening. So I'm going to do the unthinkable, which I will most likely regret for the rest of my life, as necessary as I have convinced myself it is.

"So this is about T," Cal says flatly. I shoot him a glare, rounding the corner to start on a new asile of books. This seems never ending.

"I need to get him vulnerable," I tell him.

He pauses in his spot. "Should I be concerned?"

"It's really none of your business," I say firmly, adding a dismissive shrug of my shoulders. Is he not getting the hint?

"Well, since you're stubborn and won't tell me, I will simply give you a few words of advice," Cal muses. I pause too, fingers lightly touching the next book I was planning to pull out. He has his hands shoved in his jacket as I raise my eyebrows for him to continue speaking. "Get a Gaze Reader."

I almost snort at the sound of that. "My luck with Gaze Readers has been running a bit low recently."

"Well, Yazzmine found out he was an immortal. I'm sure she has some kind of potion to keep one under control," Cal brings up. I ponder that for a moment. I mean, the suggestion is plausible, considering how versed Yazzmine is with magic in relation to immortals.

"She also tried to kill him," I note.

"She was doing this world a favour," Cal says. I roll my eyes. Again.  "It's the only way you'll get it. But I'm not here to judge how important it is to you."

I watch him walk away, considering his words.

"Jerk," I mutter under my breath, leaning against the shelf.

But saying that, I know that he is right.

***

I invited Yazzmine to my home, being too wary to go to her own. She sits in front of me, on the other side of my office desk, wispy grey hair pulled back, leather bag at her feet, filled with who knows what.

"I need a potion to have an immortal completely in my control," I tell her softly. She may judge me, she may go back to the nearest village and spread the word on what I require, but I'm so desperate I don't care. I need to find my mother's killer. I contacted Kael today and he swore innocence. I'm not exactly sure if I believe him, though.

Yazzmine gives me a pointed look. "Is that right."

"If you think you can talk to me like that, after you did that to my prisoner, you're very mistaken," I say lowly, leaning forward on my desk. I don't intend to seem threatening, but firm. Last time she went along with her own devices, and almost killed T. I refuse to trust her right now.

"I see," she says, considering something she isn't about to voice. "I have something, that might help."

She digs in her bag, which surprises me. It's almost as if she knew I needed this, otherwise how would she know to bring this to me? Dismissing that foolish thought, basing it off coincidence, I take the small vial filled with a ink black liquid.

"What is this?"

"Whoever takes this will fall completely susceptible to charm," she explains to me. My eyes narrow slightly. How can I be sure this isn't a poison to kill? No, she wouldn't do that, unless she wanted to be put before a court and then executed. She's may have hurt T last time, but she wouldn't be so stupid to do it.

"This person is coming with a date. They can't fall for anyone but me," I sigh, placing the vial down on the surface of my desk.

She raises an eyebrow. "Well you'll have to be quick about then, won't you?"

"Thank you for this."

I stand, tucking the vial into my pocket. She knows I will reimburse her in some way. So I'm leaving, so I don't have to look her in the eye for much longer. I used to trust her...So much has changed since then. Even if I trust T even less. Still, I need both of them to find out who killed my mother.

"May I ask what you use my magic for?" she asks before I can get to the door.

I turn on my heel, pausing to look back at her. "You asked, but you won't receive an answer."

"I see."

"How strong is this, by the way?" I ask, holding the door open.

Her eyes glint slightly. "You'll see."

***

An entire party buzzes around me, beating loudly in my ears. The colour of different fabrics belonging to beautiful dresses swirl before me. This party I planned in these past few days, on a whim, is better than I could have ever imagined. However, my mind isn't on those who are drinking, dancing and having a great time.

It's on T.

I see him on the edge of the ground, back turned to me. He's with Katie, like I suspected, who shakes her hips for a moment to the music, before she laughs and leans against T. I've watched for awhile, and she's thrown back a few drinks. It wouldn't surprise me if she is drunk.

Glancing around, to make sure I'm alone at the table, I turn to the two glasses I've prepared already. The moment I put a few drops of the black liquid into T's glass, it dissolved, leaving no trace that it was ever there.

I pick them both up, keeping T's in my right hand. Plastering the brightest smile on my face, I turn around, and cross the floor toward them. They are talking and laughing when I come up next to them.

"Hello you two," I breathe, wedging myself into their small circle.

Katie jumps, and T turns smoothly to face me. Both look delightfully dressed, which I expected. Katies dress is skin tight and flattering on her. I bite back a streak of jealousy which has come from nowhere.

"Alpha, you look so nice!" Katie gushes, gesturing to my dress. I give her a tight lipped smile, wishing I wasn't so spiteful right now. I'm here for a single reason, and so far, she has been ruining.

"I couldn't agree more," T says smoothly.

Glancing at him, I try not to look too long at his appearance. When he dresses up so formally, it's not easy not to notice. I'm used to him being tied down, wearing ruffled clothes, having constantly tousled hair. Everything about him here is well put together today. It's almost unnerving.

"As do you both," I say. "Thought I would bring you a drink. Each."

"It's alright, we have our drinks," T says, making my jaw clench. Despite this, I keep calm. I won't leave until T takes a sip of that drink.

So I straighten my shoulders, and don't let my smile falter. "It was my excuse to come over and talk."

"Come on T," Katie drawls, taking the glass in my left hand. "She's the Alpha. If she offers a drink, you take it."

"Alright then."

T takes the glass from my hand. My mind doesn't calm until he takes his first sip. Then, I relax. He's taken it, the potion is on his system, and soon, he will be under my control. Even saying that makes me feel ill. But this is necessary. He would do it to me too if the situations were switched. So now, I have to act quickly, before he takes one look at Katie and falls for her even more.

"So how do you like the party?" I ask anxiously, taking quick glances over my shoulder. Hopefully no one suspect anything. I don't know why, but doing something like this has me so subconscious.

"Great," T says, before he also looks over my shoulder. "Alden's here."

Every thought and word T had mentioned about him and Alden's relationship suddenly comes back to me. It may not have been explained to me, but I should have known that T and Alden do not get along, for whatever reason.

"I hadn't invited him. He must have heard about it, I'm sorry," I say, rubbing the back of my neck. Please don't leave.

"What's wrong with Alpha Alden?" Katie asks, tugging on T's suit jacket.

"Him and I have some history, and it's not so great," T informs Katie, who furrows her brow in confusion. T looks anxious, ready to run if Alden turned around. It makes me curious about what happened between them, but that is not what I am here to deal with. "I think I'll step outside for a moment."

Here's my chance. "I'll join you."

"Me too," Katie pipes in.

"I have something I want to speak to T about alone, anyways," I say quickly.

If I don't get T alone in these next few moments, he's not going to want to go anywhere with me. He will be attached to Katie's side, and all my chances will diminish. I just need a single kiss, and the deal will be under way.

"Oh," Katie says distractedly.

T regards me for a moment. "Is that right?"

"Sure," I say brightly, hoping he would assume that it isn't a big deal. I turn around and point to a long table at the other end of the room. "Ah, Katie, there's some food on that table over there if you're hungry."

"You know what, I am kind of hungry," she muses, before she kisses T on the cheek and departs. I watch her go, forcing myself not to breathe in a sigh of a relief. That was easy.

I turn toward the door, looking back at T. "Are we going?"

He follows me, weaving through the crowd right behind. I'm tense until I open the door, letting him come outside with me. Then, I relax even more. I'm the only person that he sees right now, which means he's not about to get caught up with Katie or anyone else in the party.

The night air soothes my heated cheeks and tense shoulders. This is it.

"I don't understand you, Faye," T comments, sliding the door closed after him. I turn to face him. He still looks nonchalant and centred with himself, which means the drug hasn't started working yet.

"Likewise."

"You want to talk. About what?" he questions.

He's suspicious of me, and I don't blame him at all. We have never communicated this much before, and there has been little time where I have expressed I want to talk to him directly for any other reason that doesn't include him being my prisoner.

"Us," I tell him, waiting patiently for him to react as if he's in love with me. I'm sure when it happens, it will be a strange sight. I could never imagine T loving me.

"That's very open ended," he comments, sliding his jacket sleeves up his arm.

I decide while I'm waiting, to get some information out of him. "That, and I'm curious about you and Katie. How long have you been messing with her head?"

"Since that morning you left my house with the intention to never see me again. I was frustrated so I went out and I found a insecure, willing target," he tells me.

He looks surprised at his own remark, before he opens and closes his mouth in confusion. He seems to taste something in his mouth, then his face screw up in disgust. It's working, he's starting to be honest and straight with me. A million questions I want to ask come into my mind, but I refrain.

"Bad taste in your mouth?" I ask innocently.

He frowns. "I don't know why I told you that."

"Truth hurts I guess."

He continues to open and close his mouth, before I spark of recognition appears in his eyes, which slowly narrow on him. This is what I feared would happen, but also suspected would too.

"You spiked my drink," he murmurs suspiciously, leaning against the glass door. I grab his sleeve and pull him after me, around the corner of the house, so no one would see. He stumbles after me, drunk of the potion. I bite my lip anxiously, hoping he isn't too under the influence to function

"I did," I mutter.

He props himself up against the exterior, and stares at me drunkenly.n"God, you're so perfect. You have no idea how badly I want you."

"I really should have considered how strong this was going to be," I comment.

T's eyes are tired and sultry, consumed by desire. I'm too scared to look at his pants and see how far this potion has extended to. However far, it has taken a strong hold on T, who looks like he is about to jump on me.

"As strong as my love for you?"

I roll my eyes. "I'm not sure I like this drug. You're embarrassing yourself.

"I love you so much. Please, come here and let me take you away so we can be together forever," he murmurs. I look a little closer, and see a single tear form in his eye, before it spills down his cheek.

"Are you seriously crying?" I question in surprise. Wow, I underestimated this stuff.

"Baby please," he pleads.

Deciding to put him out of his misery, I take a step forward. "Alright, let's get this over with."

"Are you going to kiss me?" he asks hopefully, wiping the tear from his face.

"Yes T, I am."

Swallowing uncomfortably, I ready myself. T doesn't look fazed by this, only excited. He's under the influence, that's why. This feels so wrong, and so disgusting, even if I have no other choice. I'll get this over with, and beat myself up over later, when he's lost his memory and moved on with his life. Hopefully.

"Finally," T breathes.

A single kiss. Easy. So taking a deep breath, I grab his cheeks, and place a single, swift kiss on his lips. It's all I need. To complete the deal, and to realise one single thing, that has completely changed my life.

Today, I found out who my mate is.
