~Faye

Every part of me is shaking with each step I take.

I really need to have T moved to a cell closer to the door, so I don't have to make this walk each time. It gives me the perfect amount of time to consider everything he's going to say to me, then get frightened by it. No, I'm the Alpha, and I'm going to force my questions on him, and expect all the honest answers.

He's standing this time, arms through the cell bars. He has a predator's gaze, as he stands there, gazing at me through the fringe of dark messy hair that covers his forehead. He has an amusing smile painted across his lips. Frustrating. That's how to describe it.

"Want to explain?" I ask, backing up to lean against the wall opposite him. It's enough distance to that I hope he will take me seriously.

"I thought you might have seen enough while you were spying," T says, the side of his lips quirking up slightly.

Gritting my teeth, I fold my arms, like a set of armour protecting against the attitude of certain Silent's. I don't know why I refer to him as one of them anymore, since he's clearly broken every rule a Silent would go to. There's more to him, but right now, that's not what I want to talk about. I need all the information about Cal that I can get.

"Those are my cameras that I'm allowed to look through," I say, attempting to sound composed, although my shaky voice. "And you're my prisoner."

He seems amused by this. "You make it seem pleasant, Faye."

My eyes narrow.

"What? Don't like a bit of foreplay?" he teases, the arrogant look on his face causing my fists to clench at my side.

"Listen T, I know you know him."

He chuckles, pulling away from the bar. Watching him pace carefully, hands shoved in his dark trousers is one of the most frustrating things. I know he's winding me up until I say something he can use against me, so I keep my mouth shut, waiting patiently for him to answer.

"Like I said before, he's a Huntsman, everyone-"

"No," I growl, "I saw you have History, that he knows you too. You better speak up-"

It's his turns to cut me off. "Callan and I go way back. He has some dirty secrets, but don't we all? I'm not telling you who to trust, even if I know what he's keeping from you. And I think you could see from the camera recording that I have no reason to tell you anything about him."

My mind wanders back to the promise made between them. Cal wouldn't touch me, and T would keep his secret. Heat flushes through my cheeks as my mind scrambles to think of why he would want that. I refuse to address it though. Not right now.

"You don't understand, he's my Personal Guard, I'm meant to trust him," I breathe.

T moves back to the cell bars, leaning against them. He beckons me closer with his finger in a come hither motion, the wicked look in his eyes simmering with unspoken promise. "Come closer, Faye."

I only glare in response.

"Come on Alpha, come here," he continues. If his gaze wasn't so smouldering and full of potential danger I don't want to get near, I would maybe listen to his prompting. Instead, I only fold my arms even tighter across my chest and hope he catches onto what I'm saying. He doesn't.

"As if."

"What's the worst I can do?" He tempts. "I just want to make sure you hear what I have to say."

I take a step forward. "If you touch me, I'm snapping your wrists off."

His smile flashes wider at my words. I step right up close, the bars keeping us apart. I can smell him, his fresh pine and citrus scent, see every slight bend of his curls, and see the darkness swirling around the amusement in there. Maybe now I'm tempted to touch him, but I keep my rigid arms by my side, ready to snap if he decides to reach out.

"Even closer," he breathes, the warmth of him caressing my body, even past the cold metal bars.

Clenching my jaw, I lean just close enough, as I turn my head to hear what he has to say. His mouth comes as close to my ear as possible.

"Let me out of my cell, and I'll show you exactly who you can trust."

I push away, right until my back hits the wall again. He only smiles lazily, not surprised that this was my reaction. Is he out of his mind? After the stunt he pulled last time, I've learnt my lesson, and I'm not about to let him out ever again. Not until it's for his trial, and their are guards everywhere, with me miles away.

"I take that as a no?"

"You don't need out of there. That's where you belong, so you can stay used to it, because for the next few weeks, that's where you'll be staying," I say sharply, watching as he uses his arms to push back and forth on the bars.

He's lack of sleeves is oddly fascinating. My eyes are glued to the muscles that shift under his skin, which is starting to lack that healthy glow from the sun. He's been under here for awhile.

"Listen, I'm willing to give you access to one secret of his, but not without something in return," he says coyly, resting his forehead on his hand that wraps around the bar.

Oh course, I expected no less. "What do you want?"

He bites his lower lip, finally getting the chance to pose his threat. I can imagine it has something to do with getting out of his cell, or maybe getting more than two meals a day. That, or it will be something to keep me up at night wondering who he really is, or what he is.

"You have a ball coming up, where you invite all your pretty little Alpha friends and you never have someone to go with," he says gently, although that smile is anything but.

I forgot about the ball. I've been so busy dealing with T, Cal and my mother that I haven't thought about that yet. And it's next week...

"You're a prisoner," I say flatly. "I'm not going with you."

T backs up, before he walks along the length of the cell, running his fingers across each bar in turn. It's a rhythmic gesture that might lull me into sleep if I watch it for too long.

"Would you like me to ask you in the most extravagant way possible? If you let me out..."

"No," I snap.

"Come on, this is a secret you really want to know, because it involves you, and your precious little Cal. I don't know why you're so obsessed with him, though," T days, completely changing the subject in the middle of the sentence. It works on me though.

I sigh. "I'm not obsessed with him. Especially not after all this."

His eyes gleam. "Perfect."

"Of this is such a great secret, why don't you give a little hint, and then I'll decide on whether or not I want to let you out of your cell," I say, finding a medium that I can accept. It tears at every fiber of mine, although if he plays up, it will give me an excuse to go all Alpha on him or something.

"Mmm, tempting. How about a kiss and I'll-"

"You wish," I growl, and he grins boyishly.

"Alright alright, fair enough," he says. "Now listen, what if there was someone who once was just like you?"

That's one of the most cryptic, useless pieces of information I have ever received in my life.

"How so?"

He taps his nose. Mother used to do that too, when she wanted to keep something to herself. To this day, especially when T does it, it's irritating.

"The ball isn't happening," I mutter. "Forget it."

Turning around, I walk back off down the hallway, but not without hearing him say his last parting words. "We shall see."

Cal isn't there when I get back to my bedroom, which is a relief. I have no idea how I'm going to talk to him as if I don't know that he is keeping a secret. How am I supposed to get this one out of him? This stubborn enough, and he isn't my Personal Guard keeping a secret.

Although it's obvious he's keeping something from me.

Falling backward into my bed, I decide the only way to conclude anything is to take a nap and wake up on hopefully the answer. However, the moment my back hits he covers, a rustling noise makes me jump right back up again.

Something is under my covers. Instantly, I delve my hands under, pulling out photograph covered in a thin clear film. It's clearly been preserved.

The picture is of two young girls, with stark white hair atop their heads. Neither of them look familiar, yet at the same time, I know exactly what this.

One of those girls is me. And the other is one I've never seen before.

My heart stops.

What if there was someone who was once was just like you?

My knees collapse, as I fall onto the bed. T was right.

I just don't know why.
