~Faye

I don't know what to think. Who to trust.

I've locked myself in my office so no one can reach me. As the Alpha, I need to make an executive decision on what is about to happen next. Jury came to the conclusion, for whatever reason, that T was innocent. I'm not sure how it happened, if they were influenced by Fate, or if it is really true.

That he is being controlled by someone who is of higher power. If he is truly telling the truth, then Cal is behind everything.

The worst part is, the more I think about it, the more it makes sense.

Cal has been at my side this entire time. He knows T, and hasn't told me why. T has done nothing but explain things to me, and even though it's been little compared to what he keeps, it's more than Cal. And what if the Huntsman is the reason T won't speak about certain things with me?

My pen snaps between my fingers, ink spilling across the blank page.

T is free to go. In actual fact, he should be getting cleared now before they give him to signal to leave. Forever. Then what?

I glance up at the sound of someone pushing something under my door. When I lean up over my desk to look, it's a note. As I stand to retrieve it, I pray it isn't Cal, as I'm this close to having him arrested for questioning. Instead, I find the familiarity of the handwriting relating to someone else.

You seemed distracted on the night of your party.

I was hoping we could meet and talk about how alike we are.

Both Alphas. Both female. Both being oppressed by megalomaniacs like Kael, Kaden and Landon.

Perhaps we can talk later.

Contact me if you're interested.

There was no signature at the bottom of the note to signify who sent it. It's easy to tell who sent it though, considering the last letter I received like this. It's the mystery Alpha. With a clenched jaw, I crunch the note up in my fist. I will not be replying to her note at all. If it is even real...

As I toss the paper into the bin, my mind begins to wander. What if Cal or T has something to do with this? I trust neither of them right now.

If I'm going to get answers, I have only one option.

Unlock the door with a single flick, seeing both of my favourite female Guards standing post outside. I assume Cal is dealing with the T situation right now. Soon, he is going to be dealing with his own problems.

"Guards," I say gently, but firmly. "Get Cal. I want him arrested. And T, keep him locked up until I speak with him. This isn't over yet."

***

I'm I'm stern as ever as I walk closer to the cells.

T and Cal have been placed into cells right next to each other, which wasn't my idea, however, it's going to make it easier to address them both when I demand answers. My idea is to use a measure I never thought I would. I wouldn't, if my safety, and my Pack's wasn't in jeopardy.

Cal has his arms through the cell bars, while T is sitting in his usual spot, his legs lazily propped up in front of him. I stand against the wall, having a good view into each of their cells.

"This is your once chance to be honest with me," I say slowly, making sure they could both catch the words. "It's your decision on whether you want to make this easy on yourselves, or hard."

Cal looks concerned, while T only looks amused, smirking up at me as if this is an entire joke to him. Just wait until he sees what I have in store.

"Alpha, I shouldn't be here, you know that. I didn't do a thing wrong," Cal insists.

"A thing wrong?" T scoffs from his cell. "You're telling me? I'm the one who got ruled as not guilty in an actual court procedure. Legally, I should be walking free."

I growl lowly, shutting both of them up. If this is going to work in my favour, I can't have them communicating the way they want to. All I need from them is answers, which I have questions to get these answer from. At the end of it all, I'll decide whether I think they are evil or guilty.

"Firstly, I have a question for you T," I say, stepping closer to his cell. He stands swiftly, walking over to stand by his cell bars, like Cal.

"Ask away."

"Your brother is Fate," I say flatly. "That would have been nice to know before your trial."

T sighs deeply. "You never explicitly asked about my siblings, if I remember correctly. It's not my fault Fate took an interest in a lonely orphan like me. We aren't real brothers, Faye. He's messing with you. He's Fate."

"And how does a Silent come to know of Fate, huh?" I question, folding my arms over my chest.

"This is really tiresome information you shouldn't care so much about, Faye. Just let me go, would you? I know you like to abide by the law, or rather, your own good morals," T says nonchalantly.

My jaw clenches as I growl again. His time, it has no affect in T.

"Answer the damn question. How did you come to know Fate?"

T seems almost bothered by the fact that I'm asking so many questions like this. He seems to have felt my temper coming in, which explains his honesty to this point, but now, he's risking sharing too much with me. The wall is slowly being built, but today, I'm going to destroy anything working on it.

I turn to my guards. "Bring the chains. Tie him up."

For a moment, T's brow creased, before he looked back at me, searching my face with those dark, expressionless eyes. "What are you doing?"

"I gave you the option, T," I say smoothly, watching four Guards unlock the door, carrying in thick silver chains.

It doesn't take much effort to have T chained to the wall, the metal cuffs keeping the silver from burning him. He doesn't look as disgusted as I thought, as the guards leave the cell. Nor does he looks defeated. Instead, he looks curious, anticipating my next move with amused interest.

"Your move, Alpha," he says softly.

I kick open his cell door. I'm not worried. Not when I have Guards with silver bullets. That is, if he could even escape the chains keeping him pinned against the wall. Unlikely.

"I'm going to ask you again, how did you come across Fate?"

"It was more or less the other way around," T replies, seeming almost bored.

"How so?" I press.

He shrugs. It's the usual maneuver I see from him. It's his way of careless deflecting any kind of conversation. Today, I've had enough of it.

Grabbing the silver chains in my glove covered hands, I press it ruthlessly against the palm of his hand that has been pinned to the wall. Almost instantly his face contorts in pain, as he attempts to jerk his body away, but fails.

"Alpha, what's going on in there?" I hear Cal ask anxiously. I ignore him. He's next.

Pulling away the silver, I look at the mark it left on his hand. It's a bright, angry red burn that will leave a scar for weeks after this. Silver is deadly to almost anything walking. It's my tactic. It's the only way I'm going to get him to talk.

"Is this your thing, Faye?" T questions, his chest heaving to recover from the pain. "This what you're into?"

I ignore that. "Moving on. What's your real name?"

"T."

"No, your real name."

His eyes are wild. "My real name is T, that's it, that's all. I go by T and nothing else, I promise you."

I swallow. Something about that seems believable. I decide to move on.

"What's your plan? Why did you come here?" I question.

"I came here to kill you," he says.

Shaking my head, I grab the collar of his shirt, ripping straight down to reveal his stomach and chest. I hardly take any time to look, instead opting to press the silver against his chest. He groans in pain, but says nothing in protest.

I give it a few moments before pulling away. I can't look at the mark, not even for a second. It's definitely there though.

Through gasps, he mutters, "you really know how to excite me, Alpha."

"This will be around your neck if you keep talking like that," I snap. "Now answer the damn question."

"I came to kill you, I changed my mind," he gives up. "It's not as impressive as you think. I've been messing with you, of course, but who wouldn't? You gave me the perfect opportunity, now let me walk away and go back to share with my assassin buddies what I achieved."

Something about that seemed sarcastic, like a joke, but I couldn't bring myself to hurt him for that. Instead, I move on.

Why am I even doing this? All of a sudden, it all dawns on me what I just did.

Dropping the chains, I skid back away from them, until my back hits the wall. I strip off my glove, tossing them on the ground, ignoring the heated gaze T is giving me right now.

With my head in my hands, I let regret fill my entire body. I deserve it. What kind of Alpha am I? One that hurts people? That's not me. That's not why Millicent gave me the gifts I have right now. I meant to be the good one, the fair one. As the tears come, I don't even try stop them.

"Faye," I hear T say gently. "It's not your fault."

I ignore him.

"I'm sorry," he continues. "For everything. Please, don't cry, you don't deserve any of it."

Shaking my head, palms still pressed against my face, I say, "I have one more question."

T sits patiently, waiting.

"Is Cal truly bad a guy?" I ask, wiping the tears from my face before I have the guts to look back at T. His jaw clenches as he swallows, looking regretful.

"Quite possibly the worst," he breathes.
